करुणा ला हा दैवी संकेत भासतो. राघवेंद्र ची नोकरी जाणं आणि त्यांनी इथे परत येणं हा केवळ योगायोग नाही. खूप अश्या गोष्टी होत्या ज्या कित्येक वर्षे घरातल्या प्रत्येकात एक सल म्हणून बोचत होत्या.

करुणा ने तो कागद नीट पाहिला, पण तिला त्यातलं काही समजेना. ती सासरेबुवांकडे गेली..

“बाबा…सासूबाईंच्या खोलीत हे सापडलं…काय आहे हे?”

सासरेबुवा कागद हातात घेतात, आणि बघून चुरगळुन फेकून देतात..

“बाबा काय झालं? काय आहे ते?”

“ही आपली जमीन…शहराच्या मोक्याच्या ठिकाणी आपली खूप मोठी जमीन आहे…तुझ्या सासूबाईंनी जायच्या आधी मला जमिनीची समान वाटणी करून द्यायला सांगितलं होतं…पण तेवढ्यात विशाल ला त्या जमिनीबद्दल समजलं….त्याने त्या जमिनीचा वापर करून नवीन व्यवसाय उभा करायचा प्लॅन केला आणि सासूबाईंना तो दाखवला होता…तुझी सासू माझ्या मागेच लागली की विशाल ला हे करू द्या म्हणून..”

“मग चांगलं होतं की…”

“विशाल ने किती पैसे घालवले माहितीये ना तुला? उद्या जमिनीचा लिलाव करून तीही घालवेल….काय भरोसा त्याचा…त्यापेक्षा मी चौघात जमीन वाटून देतो..”

“नाही बाबा…वाटणी हा शब्द घरात वापरुच नका…जे काही आहे ते आपलं आहे…सर्वांचं आहे..”

“ती जमीन पडून राहण्यापेक्षा बरंय वाटून दिलेली…विशाल च्या वाट्याला आलेल्या जमिनीवर तो करेल काय करायचं ते…”

दुसऱ्या दिवशी सासरे सर्वांना बोलवतात…

“आज मी तुम्हाला जे काही सांगतोय ते नीट ऐका… आपली खूप मोठी जमीन आहे आणि ती अशीच पडून आहे…वकिलाला बोलावून मी त्याची समान वाटणी करणार आहे…कुणाला काही आक्षेप?”

“होय…मला आहे…” वृषाली पुढे येऊन म्हणते…

“समान वाटणी पटते बाबा तुम्हाला?”

“मग तुझं काय म्हणणं आहे? तुम्हाला जास्त मिळावी?”

इतक्यात मनाली आणि तारा पूढे येतात…

“बाबा…आम्हालाही ही वाटणी मान्य नाही…प्रत्येकाला समान? अजिबात नाही..”

विशाल, महेश आणि प्रताप काळजीत पडतात…आता आपल्या बायका जमिनीसाठी वाद तर घालणार नाही ना?

“हे बघा, तुम्ही चौघे मला सारखे आहात…कुणाला कमी जास्त कशी देऊ मी?”

“राघवेंद्र भाऊजींना जास्त द्या…त्यांना गरज आहे…”

“नाही…विशाल भाऊजींना तिथे व्यवसाय करता येईल..”

“कशाला…महेश भाऊजी तिथे इमारत उभी करतील..त्यानं द्या जास्त…”

“प्रताप भाऊजींना द्या, त्यांना तिथे हॉटेल टाकता येईल…त्यांचं स्वप्नच होतं तसं…”

वाद झाला…पण प्रेमळ वाद…दुसऱ्याला जास्त मिळावं म्हणून वाद…दुसऱ्याचा विचार करून झालेला वाद…

जमिनी दुसऱ्या भावाला जास्त मिळावी म्हणून या तिघी सुना बळजबरी करत होत्या….महेश, विशाल आणि प्रताप ला हे पाहून कमालीचा अभिमान वाटला…

सासरेबुवांना तर हे ऐकून डोळ्यात पाणी आलं….करुणा ने डोळे मिटून सासूबाईंची प्रतिमा डोळ्यासमोर आणली…

सासरेबुवांना हा अत्युच्च आनंद पेलवेना… त्यांना तिथेच बांध फुटू नये म्हणून ते तडक आपल्या खोलीत गेले…आणि सासूबाईंच्या फोटो समोर उभं राहून हमसून हमसून रडू लागले….

“आज तू हवी होतीस…पाहिलंस? मुलं कशी भांडताय ते? काय म्हणालीस? त्यांना समजवा? यावेळी काय समजावू मी तूच सांग…आपल्या भावाला जास्त मिळावं म्हणून चढाओढ चाललेली त्यांची…. तू लहानपणी आपल्या मुलांना गोष्ट सांगायचीस बघ, की रामाने राज्याच्या त्याग केला…लक्ष्मण त्याच्या पाठोपाठ गेला…मग भरताने रामाच्या पादुका सिंहासनावर ठेऊन राज्य केलं…मुलांनी लक्षात ठेवली असेल का गं ती गोष्ट? मुलांचं माहीत नाही, पण या पोरींनी आज लाजवलं बघ मला….एकवेळ आपली मुलं सरळ सरळ वाटण्या घेऊन मोकळी झाली असती…पण या चौघी सुनांनी घराचा रथ पेलून धरलाय….आज तू हवी होतीस….आज तू हवी होतीस हे पाहायला..”

बाबा फोटो जवळ कितीतरी वेळ बसून असतात….

“बाबा….”

“करूणे…पोरी जादू केलीस गं तू…जे कधीच पाहायला मिळालं नसतं ते आज तुझ्यामुळे पाहायला मिळतंय..”

“नाही बाबा…मी फक्त एक धागा गुंतवलाय प्रत्येकात, ज्याने सर्वजण एका माळेत गुंफले गेलेत….”

रामराज्य बनायला सुरवात झाली होती….सासुबाईंचं स्वप्न आता लवकरच पूर्ण होणार होतं…

एक दिवशी तारा ची मैत्रीण तारा ला भेटायला आली…तिचं या गावात काम असल्याने जाता जाता तारा ला भेटून जाऊ असं तिला वाटलेलं…

तारा ची मैत्रीण, मोठ्या शहरात आपल्या नवऱ्यासोबत राहणारी…. थोडीशी आगाऊ आणि जिभेला हाड नसलेली..

“अनन्या? तू? कशी आहेस? अचानक कशी?”

“किती प्रश्न विचारशील…आत येऊ?”

“हो गं ये…बस….थांब हं मी बाबांना जेवण वाढून आले…तू बस तोवर…”

तारा बाबांना वाढून देते…इतक्यात छोटू चा आवाज येतो…छोटी आई, मला पापड भाजून देना…

“बरं बाळा…ये इकडे चल…”

“तारा…आज तू भाजी बनव…पोळ्या आम्ही करू..”.

तारा चं सगळं काम झालं आणि ती अनन्या सोबत बसली..

“मग…काय म्हणतेस… कसं चाललंय सगळं?”

“ते जाऊदे…हे काय? इतकी सगळी माणसं घरात?”

“हो…एकत्र राहतो आम्ही…”

“कशी राहतेस काय माहीत…अगं तू आधी कशी होतीस, आता कशी झालीये?”

“आता जास्त आनंदी आहे गं मी..”
