#दैवलेख (भाग 4)
ठरलं, सईला आजीसमोर वैदेही म्हणून समोर आणायचं आणि हीच वैदेही आहे असं सांगून लग्न उरकायचं. देवांगला काहीसं टेन्शन आलेलं, हा सगळा प्रकार ऐकून सईला काय वाटेल याचा विचार तो करत होता. तिला फोन लावण्यासाठी गेले तासभर तो विचार करत होता. शेवटी हिम्मत करून त्याने सईला फोन लावायला फोन हातात घेतला तोच सईचा फोन.
“हॅलो देवांग, एन्जॉय करत असशील सुट्ट्या, होना?”
“सई… अगं एक प्रॉब्लेम झालाय”
“अरे इथेही एक प्रॉब्लेम झालाय, मला एक सांग..एखाद्या music शो चं, म्हणजेच पारंपरिक music साठी कव्हर पेज तयार करायचं असेल तर काय बनवावं?”
“हे काम तुला दिलंय?”
सई त्याला बोलण्यात गुंतवते..
“नाही..अरे आपले बॉस आयडियाज विचारत होते, म्हटलं देवांग इथे असता तर लगेच सांगितलं असतं.. तू काय आयडिया दिली असतीस बरं?”
“पारंपरिक music शो..म्हणजे सगळी जुनी वाद्य, त्यात संगीताचे सूर..आणि दर्दी श्रोते..ते music त्यांच्या काळजात आरपार जातंय असं दाखवलं असतं ग्राफिक्स मधून..”
“ओह wow…” सईचं काम झालेलं असतं..
“बरं देवांग मी तुला नंतर करते कॉल, आता खूप कामात आहे..चल बाय बाय बाय..”
सईचं काम झालं होतं. आता ही आयडिया राजेशला सांगायची आणि त्याच्याकडून पैसे घ्यायचे असा तिचा प्लॅन यशस्वी झाला होता. देवांगला जरा विचित्र वाटलं, काहीतरी प्रॉब्लेम झालाय असं सांगत असतांना सुद्धा सईने ऐकलं नाही, बाय करून फोन कट केला लगेच. इतकं काय महत्वाचं होतं? जाऊद्या, एका अर्थाने बरंच झालं, तिला आता संध्याकाळी सांगतो मी सगळं.
देवांगने दुपारी जरावेळ आराम केला. पण विचारांनी त्याच्या मनात थैमान घातलं होतं. त्याला झोपही आली नाही. सायंकाळी त्याच्या खोलीतून तो बाहेर आला. प्रवासात ऊन लागलं होतं आणि पित्तही जाणवत होतं, त्यामुळे डोकं दुखत होतं त्याचं.
“आई, जरा चहा टाकतेस का?”
आईने काही वेळाने त्याला चहा आणून दिला आणि ती देवांगजवळ बसली. आई आता आपल्याला काहीतरी विचारणार, सांगणार हे त्याला माहित होतं.
“आई, माझं डोकं खूप दुखतंय, आता पुन्हा तो विषय नको”
“बरं जरावेळ आराम कर, अजून काही लागलं तर सांग” आईनेही त्याची मनस्थिती समजून घेत त्याला जरा वेळ दिला.
संध्याकाळी देवांगने पुन्हा सईला फोन लावला.
“हॅलो, सई.. ऐक, एक प्रॉब्लेम झालाय”
“हा बोल..”
देवांगने तिला घरी घडलेला सगळा वृत्तांत सांगितला. आता तिची काय प्रतिक्रिया येते यामुळे त्याची धडधड वाढू लागते.
“एवढंच ना..”
इतका थंड प्रतिसाद तिने दिला..
“मी येईल वैदेही बनून..पण नेक्स्ट वीक हा. या विक मध्ये खूप काम आहे ऑफिसमध्ये” (खरं तर राजेशने दिलेल्या पैशातून तिला शॉपिंगला जायचं होतं त्यामुळे तिने नकार दिला)
“तू कधीपासून इतक्या गंभीरपणे ऑफिसचं काम करायला लागलीस?”
“कधीपासून म्हणजे? आधीपासूनच करते मी”
देवांग हसला, त्याच्या मनावरचं एक ओझं कमी तर झालं..पण पुन्हा पुढचा प्रश्न, आठवडाभर आजीला कसं तोंड द्यायचं? बघू पुढचं पुढे असं म्हणत तो काहीसा शांत झाला. पुन्हा एकदा जाऊन आजीला भेटायची ईच्छा तर होती पण मुद्दाम त्याने टाळलं.
रात्रीच्या वेळी जेवण झालं की त्याचं आवडतं काम तो हाती घेई, त्याच्या खोलीत असलेल्या कॅनव्हास वर चित्र रेखाटण्याचं. हे काम त्याने आजवर चुकवलेलं नव्हतं. दिवसभरात जे काही झालं त्याचं प्रतिबिंब त्याच्या चित्रातून दिसे. तो चित्रात इतका गुंतून जाई की त्याला जणू एक नशाच चढे, आणि चित्र पूर्ण झाल्यावरच ती उतरे. तो भानावर यायचा तेव्हा दूर राहून आपण काढलेलं चित्र बघायचा.
आज दिवसभरात बरीच मानसिक उलथापालथ झाली होती, त्यामुळे आज त्याच्या हातून काय रेखाटलं जाणार याची त्याला कल्पना नव्हती, त्याने ब्रश उचलला…लाल, करडा, काळा, निळा, पांढरा.. असे रंग एकत्र करत गेला, छटा तयार करत गेला..आई बाबा दूध घेण्यासाठी आवाज देत होते पण एकदा का तो चित्रात बुडाला की त्याला कसलंही भान राहत नसे. आई बाबांनाही एव्हाना समजलं की देवांग काय करत असेल ते.
बराच वेळ देवांगचा रंगांशी खेळ सुरू होता. कॅनव्हास वरील अखेरचा शुभ्र कोपरा रंगीत झाला आणि चित्र पूर्ण झालं. देवांग भानावर आला. चित्रापासून लांब गेला..आपण काय काढलंय यावर त्याचा विश्वास बसेना..!!!
ट्रेन, ट्रेनमधील कंपार्टमेंट, खिडकी, खिडकीतून बाहेर सगळं जग गुलाबी दिसत होतं.. दोन माणसं समोरासमोर, त्यांच्यातून एक संगीत निघत होतं.. त्या तालावर खिडकीबाहेरचा परिसर नृत्य करत होता, त्या दोन व्यक्तींच्या मध्ये एक अनामिक बंध निर्माण झालेला देवांगने पुसटश्या रेषेने वळणं घेत दाखवला होता. हे चित्र म्हणजे त्याच्या अचेतन मनाचं प्रतिबिंब असायचं, हे त्यालाही ठाऊक होतं. म्हणजे घरात इतकं सगळं झालं पण त्याच्या मनात रेल्वेतील तो प्रवास आणि ती मुलगी..हेच सतत रुंजी घालत होतं. इतक्या सगळ्या तणावात सुद्धा तिचा सहवास मनात कोरला गेलेला आणि चित्रातही तोच उमटला गेला. त्याला वाटलेलं की आजचा तणाव चित्रातून दिसून येईल, पण चित्रात उमटलं ते शांत, आल्हाददायक, आनंद देणारं चित्रण !
हे चित्र उमटलं आणि पुन्हा त्याला त्या प्रवासाची आठवण झाली. तप्त उन्हात थंडगार शिडकावा अंगावर यावा तश्या त्या सुखद आठवणी होत्या. त्याचं मन चलबिचल होत होतं, एकीकडे त्या आठवणी पुसून टाकाव्या वाटत नव्हत्या आणि दुसरीकडे सईचा विचारही मनात येत होता. चित्राकडे बघत तो झोपी गेला.

रात्रीच्या वेळी आजीच्या खोलीतून आवाज आल्याने त्याला जाग आली, तो तडक आजीच्या खोलीकडे गेला. खोलीपर्यंत जाईपर्यंत शांतता पसरली होती. आजीने चाहूल घेत पटकन फोन ठेऊन दिलेला. ती कुणाशीतरी फोनवर बोलत होती असा भास त्याला झाला होता. तो आपल्या खोलीकडे परत जात होता, त्याला गच्चीचे दार उघडे दिसले.
“बाबा आज कसे विसरले दार बंद करायला?” असं म्हणत तो तिकडे गेला. दार बंद करणार तोच त्याला त्याचे बाबा तिथे दिसले.
“बाबा? झोपला नाहीत?”
“नाही, झोप लागत नाहीये..”
“आजीचा विचार करताय ना बाबा?”
“हं..तुझं बालपण डोळ्यासमोर आलं माझ्या..”
“अचानक?”
“अचानक नाही, तुझ्या आजीचा हट्ट बघून तुझं बालपण आठवलं. तुला आठवत नसेल, तू खूप लहान होतास. त्यावेळी आपली आर्थिक परिस्थिती फारशी बरी नव्हती. एकदा आमच्या श्रीमंत साहेबांनी आपल्याला जेवणाचं आमंत्रण दिलं होतं. आपण सर्वजण त्यांच्याकडे गेलेलो. त्यांचा मुलगा तुझ्याएव्हढाच होता.त्याच्याकडे महागड्या खेळण्या होत्या. तू त्या पहिल्या आणि तुलाही हव्या म्हणून जिद्द करू लागला. खेळण्या महाग होत्या, माझी ऐपत नव्हती एवढी. पण आजीच्या मनात कालवाकालव झाली. तिने साठवलेली जमपुंजी तिने माझ्याकडे दिली आणि म्हणाली, माझ्या नातवाला कधी काही कमी पडायला नको, आपली गरिबी त्याचं बालपण हिरावून घेणारी नको”
आजीने बळजबरी मला पैसे दिले आणि ती सगळी खेळणी आणायला लावली. तुझ्या चेहऱ्यावर काय आनंद होता तेव्हा. त्या आनंदापुढे आजीला आपली जमापुंजी दुय्यम वाटली होती.
हे सगळं सांगता सांगता बाबांचे डोळे भरून आले. त्यांच्या आईने मोठ्या कष्टाने मुलांना मोठं केलं होतं, त्याची जाणीव बाबांना होती. आणि आज आपल्या आईचा हट्ट आपला मुलगा पूर्ण करू शकत नाही ही सल त्यांना बोचत होती. मोठ्या दुविधेत ते सापडले होते, एकीकडे आईचा हट्ट आणि दुसरीकडे मुलाचं आयुष्य..!!!
