आई आणि तिचं बाळ

रात्रीचे 2 वाजलेले, खोलीतून बाळाच्या रडायचा आवाज येत होता, ओली बाळंतीण सगळं बळ एकटवून बाळाला दूध पाजून शांत करू पाहत होती, पण रडणं थांबेना.

“का रडतंय पिल्लू? या आईला काही कळतं की नाही, बाळंतीण बाईने पातळ मऊ अन्न खावं, खाल्लं असेल काहीतरी अचरबचर.. बिचाऱ्या बाळाला त्रास..!!” घरातील व्यक्ती झोप मोडल्याने आईवर राग काढत होती.

बाळाच्या रडण्याने आधीच रडकुंडीला आलेली आई, खचून जात होती. आवंढा गिळत शांतपणे सगळं ऐकून घेत होती.

“अरेरे, किती लागलं माझ्या पिल्लुला? नुकताच चालायला लागलाय..किती रडतोय, काय गं तुला लक्ष देता येत नाही का नीट?”

डबा बनवणाऱ्या आईची धडधड वाढते..

“आणि डबा केव्हा देणार? मला उशीर होतोय..”

एकाच वेळी डबा बनवणारी आणि बाळाकडे लक्ष देणारी जादूगार त्यांना हवी होती..आवंढा गिळत आई शांतपणे ऐकून घेत होती..

“इतकं कसं अशक्त आहे तुझं बाळ? तुलाच अक्कल नाही, चांगलं खाऊ पिऊ घालत नसशील..”

बाळाला भरवण्यासाठी स्वतःची तहानभूक विसरून अंगात ताकद नसताना त्याच्या मागे पळणारी त्याची आई, आवंढा गिळत आई शांतपणे ऐकून घेत होती.

“शाळेत जायला किती नाटकं आहेत याची? इतका हट्टीपणा चांगला नाही…हिच्याच लाडाने बिघडलाय तो..”

आई चिडून बाळाला काठोर भाषेत रागवायला लागली..

“तुला अक्कल आहे का, कशाला रागावतेस त्याला? लहान आहे तो, त्याला काय कळतं??”
…ती आवंढा गिळत शांतपणे ऐकून घेत होती.

“इतके कमी गुण? तुझं लक्ष असतं की नाही त्याच्या शाळेकडे? तुझी बाकीची कामं आणि भटकणं बंद कर आणि त्याच्या अभ्यासाकडे लक्ष दे जरा..”

मुलाची तुकडीसुद्धा माहीत नसलेला तो तिला ऐकवत होता..

“आणि हो, उद्या माझ्या मावसभावकडे घरभरणी आहे..सकाळपासून जा तू मदतीला..”

ती आवंढा गिळत शांतपणे ऐकून घेत होती.

“हा मुलगा मोबाईल वर काय करत असतो गं नेहमी? जरा लक्ष देत ज त्याच्याकडे.. आजकाल त्याची लक्षणं काही ठीक दिसत नाही..”

“हो पण आहे कुठे तो?”

“मित्रांसोबत गेलाय बाहेर, मी नाहीच म्हणत होतो पण मुलं ऐकतात तरी का..”

ती आवंढा गिळत शांतपणे ऐकून घेत होती..

“बाबा, माझं अमुक अमुक कंपनीत निवड झाली मॅनेजर म्हणून, तमुक एक पगार आहे..”

“वा रे बाळा, अभिनंदन… निवड होणारच होती.. लहानपणापासून शिकवलं आहे मी तुला..अगदी माझ्यावर गेलाय…”

“नाही नाही, आजीवर गेलाय, आजीही शाळेत हुशार होती”

“आजोबांवर गेलाय, आजोबा सुदधा मॅनेजर होते”

“मावशीवर गेलाय, मावशी कायम पहिला नंबर काढायची..”

यावेळी मात्र कुणी तिच्यावर बोट दाखवलं नाही..तिने पुन्हा आवंढा गिळला, पण आनंदाश्रूने..आणि शांतपणे सगळं ऐकून घेत होती..

ही सत्य परिस्थिती आहे..मुलांच्या वाईट वागण्याला, त्यांच्या शारीरिक त्रासाला, त्याचा हट्टीपणाला कायम आईला जबाबदार धरले जाते. त्यावेळी कुणीही स्वतःची जबाबदारी म्हणून चूक स्वीकारत नाही. पण हेच जर मुलाने काही यश मिळवलं तेव्हा मात्र श्रेय लाटायला सगळे पुढे..

कुठलीही आई वाईट नसते, आपल्या बाळाचं वाईट व्हावं असं कोणत्याही आईला वाटत नाही. बाळाच्या जडणघडणीत ती स्वतःचे शंभर टक्के देत असते..पण मुलांवर जास्त प्रभाव असतो तो आजूबाजूच्या समाजाचा, माणसांचा…

एक आई म्हणून तिने शंभर टक्के द्यावे अशी अपेक्षा एकीकडे आणि घर, कुटुंब, नातेसंबंध, घरातील कार्यक्रम हेही तितक्याच ताकदीने करावे अशी भयंकर अपेक्षा आपला समाज करत असतो. ती स्वयंपाक करत असेल तर निदान तेवढा वेळ तरी बाळाला किती लोक सांभाळतात? बाळाच्या रडण्याने रात्रभर जागरण करून सकाळी आपल्या आधी उठून आपल्या दिमतीला उभी असणाऱ्या तिची वेदना कुणाकुणाला कळते?

“तिचं कामच आहे ते, ती आई आहे…” असं सर्रास म्हटलं जातं, पण हेच “आईपण” लादून स्वतः जबाबदारी झटकायची आणि वर बघ्याची भूमिका घेऊन तिच्यावर दोषारोप करायचे..आई म्हणून मुलाला वाढवताना दहा हत्तीचं बळ ती अंगात आणते, पण आजूबाजूची लोकं क्षणात तिचं खच्चीकरण करतात ते इतकं की आईपण हे तिला शाप वाटू लागतं..

कधी थांबणार हे सगळं?
