नवरा बिचारा शांत होता म्हणून निभावलं तिचं,

“आपलं कसं छान आहे आणि दुसऱ्याचं कसं वाईट” हे सतत दाखवण्यामागे तिला काय सुख मिळे देव जाणे !

नवऱ्याकडून अकरा रुपये घेतले आणि तिने कामवालीला दिले, नवऱ्याने विचारलं,

“फक्त अकरा?”

“अहो मागे महिनाभर ती गावी नव्हती गेली का, तिच्या मुलीच्या बाळंतपणासाठी..”

“अगं मग देऊन टाकायचेस ना, इतकं काय..मुद्दाम थोडीच दांडी मारलेली तिने”

“कशाला? बाकीच्या बायकांनी तिची रजा न पकडता देऊन टाकला पूर्ण पगार, मी नाही हं अशी करायची”

तिच्याशी पुढे डोकं लावण्यात अर्थ नव्हता, नवऱ्याने विषय तिथेच थांबवला..

“बरं ऐका ना, मला अकरा हजार रुपये हवेत”

“कशाला?”

“रुचिकाचं लग्न आहे ना पुढच्या महिन्यात, खरेदी करायची आहे..”

“मग इतके पैसे?”

ती चिडली आणि म्हणाली,

“मग इतका पगार कमावताय तो कुणासाठी? हौसमौज करावी की नाही माणसाने?”

हा वाद चिघळला तर विकोपाला जाईल या भीतीने नवऱ्याने तिला अकरा हजार देऊन टाकले,
