शाळेत दहावीच्या मुलांच्या उत्तरपत्रिका तिच्याकडून गहाळ झाल्या होत्या, सगळे आरोप तिच्यावरच आले होते..वर्गात पेपर चेक करत असताना लक्षात आलं की अमुक एका शाळेच्या उत्तरपत्रिका गहाळ झाल्या आहेत, तो गठ्ठा तिच्याकडेच होता. मग चौकशी, मुख्याध्यापकांकडून चौकशी, पुढे काय काय वाढून ठेवलेलं आहे याची तिला कल्पना दिली गेली. शाळेतील स्टाफ तसा समजदार होता, त्यांनी तिला धीर दिला पण तिचं मन काही थाऱ्यावर नव्हतं.
घरी नवऱ्याला सांगू की नको या चिंतेत ती होती. तिचं वागणं घरी एकदम बदललं. तिचं सगळया कामातून लक्ष उडालं होतं.
रात्री मोहित खोलीत आला आणि तिने त्याच्याकडे एक नजर टाकली, त्याचं लक्ष मोबाईल स्क्रीन कडे होतं… त्याने भावना कडे पाहिलही नाही, मोबाईल मध्ये व्हिडीओ बघत तो झोपी गेला.
दुसऱ्या दिवशी त ठरवते की हे संकट आपणच आपलं पेलायचं, उगाच कुणालाही त्रास द्यायचा नाही. तिने ही गोष्ट मनातच दाबून ठेवली. पण मधेच वाटायचं की मोहित ला सगळं सांगून टाकावं.
दुसऱ्या दिवशी मोहित पार्टी ला गेला तो रात्री उशिरा घरी आला…आल्या आल्या बेडवर झोपला..
“मोहित…तुला एक सांगायचं आहे..”
“मोहित…मोहित??”
मोहित न ऐकताच झोपी गेला. भावनाच्या मनातली खदखद अजून वाढली. दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी स्वयंपाक करताना तिचं चित्त ठिकाणावर नव्हतं… भाजीत मीठ टाकायचं राहीलं, कपडे वाळत टाकायचे राहिले…ते पाहून सासुबाईचे टोमणे सुरू झाले..

समोरचा ऐकून घेणारच नसेल, ऐकलं तरी समजून घेणार नसेल, आणि समजलं तरी मख्ख बसणार असेल तर ही घुसमट दाखवावी तरी कुणाला???
भावना वर दबाव वाढत गेला…पोलीस, शिक्षा, दंड असे शब्द ऐकून भावना पुरती कोलमडली…आज जीवन संपवणार असं ठरवून ती घरी येत असतानाच तिला फोन येतो..
“मॅडम पेपर सापडलेत, शिपायाने चुकून ते दुसऱ्या सेट मध्ये ठेवले होते…”
भावना च्या मनातलं मळभ एकदम दूर झालं… पण हा फोन यायला थोडा जरी उशीर झाला असता तर???
