 त्यांना प्रश्न पडला,

हे कसं शक्य आहे?

माणसाचा स्वभाव इतका कसा बदलू शकतो?

एके दिवशी त्यांनी सुनेला बोलावून घेतलं,

आणि विचारलं,

“तुला तुझ्या सासूचा स्वभाव चांगला माहीत आहे, तू अशी काय जादूची कांडी फिरवली की त्या बदलूनच गेल्या?”

सून हसली,

म्हणाली,

“यांनी मला आईच्या स्वभावबद्दल आधीच सांगितलं होतं, मग माझ्या आईने मला 3 वाक्यांचा मंत्र दिला…तो जपला अन सगळं छान झालं..”

“3 वाक्यांचा मंत्र? असा कोणता मंत्र आहे? मला तरी सांग..”

“फार काही अवघड नाही बाबा, कसं असतं ना की घरात नवीन एखादी स्त्री येते तेव्हा जुन्या स्त्री च्या मनात नैसर्गिकपणे एक असुरक्षितता तयार होते”

“कसली असुरक्षितता?”

“आजवर त्या स्त्री ने घर, घरातली माणसं अन घरातल्या एकेक वस्तू सांभाळलेल्या असतात, या सर्वांवर तिचा बिनदिक्कत हक्क असतो…मग नवीन स्त्री जेव्हा येते तेव्हा आपलं स्थान हिरावलं जातं की काय असं तिला वाटू लागतं, एवढी वर्षे संसारासाठी केलेल्या मेहनतीवर दुसरंच कुणीतरी आयतं येऊन बसतंय असं वाटू लागतं..”

“बापरे, असं पण असतं?”

“शेवटी स्त्री मन असतं बाबा, प्रत्येक गोष्टीत जीव अडकलेला असतो..”

“पण मग तो मंत्र?”

“सांगते..मंत्रात 3 वाक्य असतात..”

“कोणती?”

“पहिलं वाक्य…जेव्हा मी बनवलेल्या स्वयंपाकाला सगळे जण आवडीने खातात अन कौतुक करतात, तेव्हा पहिलं वाक्य म्हणायचं…पण आईंसारखं जमलं नाही, त्यांची सर कुणालाच नाही..”

“बापरे, एका वाक्यात सासू हरभऱ्याच्या झाडावर..दुसरं वाक्य?”

“जेव्हा मी घर आवरते, साफसफाई करते, घर टापटीप दिसायला लागतं अन सगळे बघून खुश होतात, तेव्हा म्हणायचं..इतकी वर्षे आईंनी घर सुंदर ठेवलं, आता मीही करते प्रयत्न जरासा..”

“हा हा हा…आणि तिसरं?”

“आम्हा नवरा बायकोचं भांडण झालं की आईंसमोर नवऱ्याला म्हणायचं..आईंनी बघा कसा भांड्याला भांडं जोडून संसार केला..त्यांचे गुण का नाही घेतलेत? असं म्हटलं की नवऱ्याला दोन्ही बाजूंनी ओरडा मिळतो..”

“अरेवा…म्हणजे माझे गुण आलेत त्याचात असं होय..”

“नाही बाबा, पण मंत्र आहे ना..”

“मला हा मंत्र माहीत असता तर इतकी वर्षे कान पिकले नसते..बरं असो, मला एक कप चहा टाक बघू सुनबाई..”

तिकडून सासूचा आवाज आला,

“एक कप चहासाठी तिला कशाला दमवताय? दिवसभर काम करून दमून जाते बिचारी अन त्यात तुमचं अजून वेगळं..मी देते थांबा..”

सुनबाई अन बाबा एकमेकांकडे बघू लागले आणि एकाच सूरात दोघांना हसू फुटलं…
