तेजु समोर आता खूप मोठं आव्हान होतं, ज्या गोष्टीचा तिला नेहमी तिटकारा वाटत होता आज त्यालाच ती जाऊन भिडली होती.. पण राजकारण म्हणजे इतकं सोपं नव्हतंच तिच्यासाठी..दररोज एक नवीन आव्हान, दररोज एक नवीन प्रश्न….
नाईकांच्या पक्षातच अनेक मतभेद होते, जो उमेदवार नाईकांनंतर मुख्यमंत्री पदासाठी उमेदवार म्हणून उभा राहणार होता त्याला हे सर्व घडल्याने प्रचंड मनस्ताप झालेला…तेजु यात उतरणार नाही याची त्यांना खात्री होती आणि पुढचं सगळं नियोजन त्यांचं झालं होतं… पण तेजु ने हा निर्णय काय घेतला, त्याच्या सर्व मनसुब्यांवर पाणी पडलं…
“तेजु…मला माहितीये तू सभेत जे बोलली तो तुझा आतला आवाज होता…. पण राजकारण इतकं सोपं नाही मुली, इथे खूप खस्ता खाव्या लागतात, खूप शत्रू निर्माण होतात, प्रसंगी जीवाला धोकाही निर्माण होतो..”
“आई…मला हे सगळं जरी माहीत नसलं तरी बाबांसाठी मला हे सगळं करायचं आहे…जोवर महाराष्ट्राला एका नव्या उंचीवर ठेवत नाही तोवर बाबांच्या आत्म्याला शांती मिळणार नाही…बाबांचा जीव या जनतेत अडकला आहे…आणि त्यांची धुरा पेलणं हे माझं कर्तव्य आहे..”

आई बाबांच्या फोटोकडे एकदा पाहते.. आणि तेजु ला होकार देते..
तेजु बाबांच्या खोलीत अन ऑफिस मध्ये तासनतास घालवते…घरातल्या नोकरांना बजावून सांगितलं होतं की तेजु साठी सगळं जागेवर नेऊन द्यायचं…तेजु ने बाबांच्या सर्व फाईल्स बघितल्या, त्यांची डायरी बघितली. आजवरच्या राजकारणात काय घडामोडी झाल्या, त्याचा खोलात जाऊन अभ्यास केला…
अशातच तिच्या हातात एक फाईल लागली..त्याचा अभ्यास केल्यावर तिच्या लक्षात आलं की रस्ताबांधणी निधी मध्ये बराच घोटाळा करण्यात आलेला…लाखो रुपये खिशात घालण्यात आले होते… तिला धक्काच बसला…
बाबा असं करणं शक्यच नाही..मग ही फाईल इथे??
तिने आईला ते दाखवलं..आईचाही विश्वास बसेना..
“नाईक साहेब असं करणं शक्यच नाही…हे काम त्यांचं नाही..”

इतक्यात बाहेर पोलीस येतात आणि झडती घेण्याचं कारण सांगतात…

तेजु ला समजतं की त्यांना मुद्दाम अडकवण्यात आलं आहे..ती पटकन तिच्या हातातली फाईल मागे घेते आणि मागून तिच्या टॉप मधून पाठी जवळ लपवते…दोन्ही हात गच्च आवळून हाताची घडी घालते…. पोलीस सर्व शोधाशोध करतात…पण त्यांच्या हाती काहीही लागत नाही…आई तेजु कडे बघते…तेजु आईला शांत राहायचा इशारा करते…
पोलीस जातात…
“तेजु…ती फाईल का लपावलीस?? नाईक साहेब कधीही असं खोटं वागले नव्हते..”
“म्हणूनच त्यांना अनेक शत्रू निर्माण झाले होते…ही फाईल कुणीतरी मुद्दाम आपल्या ऑफिस मध्ये ठेवली होती..साधारण मागच्या आठवड्यात…कारण त्या आधी मी ही फाईल कधीच इथे पाहिली नव्हती…”
