टीव्ही वर मंगळयानाचे यशस्वी प्रक्षेपण झाल्याची बातमी प्रसारित होत होती, सर्वजण अभिमानाने बघत होते…उत्स्फूर्तपणे सर्वांनी टाळ्याही वाजवल्या, हा आवाज ऐकून मागच्या स्टोर रूम मध्ये बसलेली प्रिया धावत बाहेर आली…तिला पाहून सासूबाईंची चिडचिड झाली..प्रिया म्हणत होती,

“मलाही पाहायचंय..”

घाबरून ती म्हणाली आणि सोफ्यावर बसायला लागली तोच आवाज आला..

“वर नाही..खाली बसायचं..”

बिचारी प्रिया खाली बसून पाहू लागली, सासूबाई आणि ती एकदम उठल्या आणि तिचा धक्का सासूबाईंना लागला…सासूबाईंचा आता संताप झाला…त्यांनी रागरागात गोमूत्र काढलं आणि स्वतःवर शिंपडून घेतलं..
प्रिया केव्हाच तिच्या स्टोर रूम मध्ये जाऊन बसली.

हा सगळा प्रकार बघून श्रेयस, तिचा नवरा तिच्याकडे गेला…

“काय चालुये तुझं??”

“हे मी विचारायला पाहिजे…अरे कसला विटाळ धरताय तुम्ही??”

“हे बघ, आई इतकं देव देव करतेय आणि तुला इतकंसं पाळायला काय होतं??”

“श्रेयस??? हे तू बोलतोय? अरे अमेरिकेत MS केलंस तू…कॅनडा ला 2 वर्ष होतास…आणि तू सुद्धा हे मानतोस??”

वरचा सगळा प्रकार ऐकून चकित झाला ना? पण हेही तितकंच खरं आहे की 10 पैकी 6 घरात हीच परिस्थिती आहे. स्त्री चा मासिक धर्म म्हणजे खूप काहीतरी वाईट, दूषित…खरंच कीव येते अश्या विचारांच्या लोकांची.

माझ्या सासरी असा काही अनुभव आला नसल्याने या गोष्टीला इतकं तोलून धरलं जातं हे माहीत नव्हतं, कारण माझ्या घरी अगदी त्या चार दिवसात नैवेद्याचा स्वयंपाकही मी बनवलेला मला आठवतोय…सासूबाईंनी विचारलं..”तू हे सगळं पाळतेस का?”

मी नाही म्हटलं..

“मग मीही नाही पाळत..”

असं ठरवून आम्ही त्या गोष्टीला तिथेच पूर्णविराम दिला होता…

काय असतो मासिक धर्म? स्त्री ला त्या चार दिवसात होणारा रक्तस्राव म्हणजे मासिक धर्म. या काळात स्त्री ला आराम मिळावा, तिचं मानसिक संतुलन ठीक राहावं यासाठी तिला पूर्ण आराम मिळावा..अशी सोय होती..

“कशालाही हात लावायचा नाही” याचा अर्थ “काहीही कामं करायची नाही..” असा असताना त्याचा विटाळ खरं तर आजच्या लोकांनी केलाय…

मासिक धर्मात कशालाही हात लावायचा नाही इथवर ठीक आहे, पण तिचा स्पर्श होताच गोमूत्र शिंपडण, तिने हात लावलेल्या वस्तू शुद्ध करणं…अहो एवढंच नाही, त्या चार दिवसात तिला बसवून न ठेवता घरातले पडदे, चादरी, बेडशीट हाताने धुवायला लावायचे, अंगण, ओटा साफ करायला लावायचं…हे कुठल्या शास्त्रात लिहिलंय? मासिकधर्मात आराम मिळायचा सोडून अशी जड कामं देऊन ही लोकं केवळ स्वतःचा स्वार्थ साधू पाहताय…

हा विटाळ पाळायला भाग पाडणारे स्वतःला धार्मिक समजतात…आम्ही परंपरा पुढे नेतो असा गर्व बाळगतात…अश्यांनि धर्माची चार पुस्तकं वाचून काढली असती तर जरा तरी या भुईचा भार कमी झाला असता..

आपल्या परंपरेनी स्त्रियांना आराम मिळण्यासाठी विटाळ धरायला सांगितला… पण या महाभागांनी स्वतःच्या सोयीनुसार त्याचा विपर्यास केला..आणि पुढच्या पूढे “आम्ही धार्मिक” म्हणून बिरुद मिरवत राहिले…हे म्हणजे
“गाढवापुढे वाचली गीता…” असं होऊन बसलय…
जगाचे सृजन करणारा पाया म्हणजे मासिक धर्म, निसर्गाच्या सृजनतेला आधार म्हणजे मासिक धर्म…त्याला अशुद्ध म्हणणाऱ्यांचे विचार आधी शुद्ध व्हायला हवे…

बरं यांचं ठीक आहे, यांना शरीरविज्ञान माहीत नाही…पण शिकून सवरून मोठे झालेले तरुण सुद्धा या गोष्टीला खतपाणी घालयला लागली तर समजावं की यांनी फक्त घोकंपट्टी करून शिक्षण मिळवलं आहे, यांच्या विचारशक्ती ची दोरी कुना “दुसऱ्याच्याच” हातात आहे.
