एपिसोड 2 – “मातृत्व”
“सरका…बाजूला व्हा….नो सेल्फीज…प्लिज..”
डॉक्टर शलाका च्या हॉस्पिटलबाहेर एकच गर्दी जमलेली…मॉडेल गिरीजा आणि ऍक्टर इम्रान हॉस्पिटलमध्ये आले होते…तिथे असलेल्यांनी त्यांना ओळखलं आणि एकदम गर्दी केली..सेल्फी साठी सर्वजण ताटकळू लागले…प्रसंग ओळखता दोघांना तातडीने डॉक्टर च्या केबिन मध्ये नेण्यात आले…
डॉक्टर शलाका…देशातील नावाजलेल्या स्त्रीरोगतज्ज्ञ.. देशातूनच नव्हे तर जगभरातून श्रीमंत लोकं त्यांच्याकडे appointment घेत असत…त्यांच्याकडून आजवर एकही ऑपरेशन fail झालेलं नव्हतं..
“बसा तुम्ही, मॅडम OPD मध्ये आहेत..डिलिव्हरी चालुये..थोडा वेळ लागेल..”वॉर्डबॉय म्हणाला…
“Ok… we will wait..”
दोघेही केबिन मध्ये बसून असतात…केबिन मध्ये एका शोकेस मध्ये भरपूर पुरस्कार, सन्मानपत्र, ट्रॉफीज ठेवलेल्या असतात…काही भिंतींवर गोंडस मुलांचे फोटोज असतात, त्या फोटोत इम्रान हरवून जातो…गिरीजा त्या फोटोजवरून नजर बाजूला करायचा प्रयत्न करते पण त्या निरागस बाळाकडे पाहायचा तिचा मोह आवरत नाही…
आत डिलिव्हरी चालू असते..डॉक्टर शलाका अर्भकाला अलगद हातात घेते…आणि काही डोळ्यात पाणी आणून काही क्षण बघत राहते…प्रत्येक डिलिव्हरी नंतर डॉक्टरला परी ची आठवण यायची आणि त्या तुटून जायच्या…सिस्टर अनु बाळाला हातात घेऊन पुढच्या गोष्टींसाठी घेऊन जाते आणि म्हणते…
“मॅडम, किती दिवस त्रास करून घेणार त्याचा…किती दिवस विचार करणार त्याच त्याच गोष्टीचा??”
“कसं विसरू मी.. परी ब्लड कॅन्सर च्या शेवटच्या स्टेज ला होती…तिचा फोन एकीकडे चालू होता आणि दुसरीकडे माझी सर्जरी…मी बाळाला हातात घेतलं आणि तिने फोनवर बोलता बोलता प्राण सोडला… मला अजूनही तिचे शब्द आठवतात.. आई, आई श्वास नाही घेता येत आहे..आई..आई..एकीकडे नवीन जन्म झालेला, आणि दुसरीकडे….माझी मुलगी….” डॉक्टर शलाका असं म्हणतच रडायला लागतात…
बाहेरून बाळाचा रडायचा आवाज येतो…गिरीजाच्या अंगावर काटा उभा राहतो…ती इम्रान ला म्हणते..
“जस्ट imagine… आपल्याच बॉडी मधून एक जिवंत बाळ बाहेर येतं आणि पहिल्यांदाच आवाज काढतो…I can’t bear this..no way…किती भयानक आहे हे सगळं..”
इम्रान विचारात गढून गेलेला असतो…
“इम्रान…काय झालं..?”
“काही नाही..”
“माझ्या निर्णयाशी तू सहमत आहेस ना??”
इम्रान काही उत्तर द्यायच्या आधीच सिस्टर मीना आत येते…
“ओ माय गॉड… तुम्ही?? एक सेल्फी प्लिज..”
मागून सिस्टर अनु येते…आणि हळूच म्हणते.
“सिस्टर मीना…काय चाललंय हे, पेशंट म्हणून आलेत ते..”
“अगं कोण आहे पाहिलंय का…इम्रान आणि गिरीजा…”
अनु नाव ऐकते आणि चटकन बाहेर येते…त्यांच्यासमोर ती आपलं तोंड दाखवत नाही…डॉक्टर शलाका केबिन बाहेर येऊन अनु ला बघतात,
“सिस्टर अनु?? सगळं ठीक आहे ना??”
सिस्टर अनु काहीही बोलत नाही आणि तिथून निघून जाते..डॉक्टर शलाका आत येतात..इम्रान आणि गिरीजा उठून उभे राहतात…
“बसा बसा…so… कधी घ्यायचं ठरवलाय चान्स..”
“डॉक्टर.. आम्हाला मूल नकोय..”

“शास्त्रीजी म्हणू देतील तेव्हा ना, त्यांना फक्त वंश पुढे नेण्यासाठी संगीतातील पारंगत स्त्री हवी होती..बाकी काही नाही..”
“मग काही गुडन्यूज??”
“कसलं काय…लग्नाला बऱ्यापैकी वर्षे उलटली, अजून पाळणा हलला नाही म्हणे..”

दोघेही गृहस्थ हसायला लागतात..शास्त्रीजी जवळच असल्याने त्यांना बऱ्यापैकी ते ऐकू आलं होतं… त्यांचा एकंदरीत सुरच बदलला…कार्यक्रम झाल्यानंतर ते रामनाथ ला बोलावून घेतात…
“रामनाथ…बातमी कधी देणारेस??”
“बाबा…तुम्हाला माहितीये की, लता आई होऊ शकत नाही कधीच..”
“मग काय उपयोग तिचा??”
