सुरभी अनिच्छेनेच तयार होते,
“अगं हे काय, गावाकडे जातोय आपण.. अशी जीन्स आणि टॉप घालू नकोस..तिथल्या लोकांना नाही आवडत..”
सुरभीची पुन्हा चिडचिड,
“मी यायलाच हवं का?”
“घरी थांबूनच काय करशील? चल आमच्यासोबत..”
दोघीही तयार होऊन बस स्टॉप वर गेल्या, हातात 2 जड बॅग्स होत्या. सुदैवाने लवकर बस मिळाली आणि दोघीही आत जाऊन बसल्या. खानदेश पट्ट्यातील वखारवाडी म्हणजे सुरभीचं आजोळ. बस सुरू झाली, सुरभिने कानात हेडफोन टाकले आणि छान निसर्गगीत लावलं..घाटातला रस्ता येताच घाटातून बाहेरचा सुंदर निसर्ग दिसू लागला. सुरू असलेलं निसर्गगीत त्याला अगदी साजेसं होतं..
“कैसी है ये ऋत की जीसने फुल बनके दिल खिले..
खिल रहे है रंग सारे खिल रही है खूषभूये..
देखो, ये जो नदी है,
मिलने चली है सागर ही को..”
खूप दिवसांनी तिला निसर्गात असं सुंदर आणि निवांत वाटू लागलं, ऑफिस मधलं राजकारण, ईर्षा, मत्सर याहून ती काही काळ का असेना खूप दूर चालली होती.
गाव जवळ येताच सुरवातीला माणसांची दरवळ दिसू लागली, गावाच्या वेशीत प्रवेश करताच काही दुकानं लागली, वडापाव, जिलेबीचा सुगंध येऊ लागला, पंधरा शुभ्र सदरा आणि वर पांढरी टोपी, खाली बारीक काठ असलेलं पांढरं धोतर अश्या वेशातील वृद्ध मंडळी, रंगेबेरंगी शर्ट आणि फिकट पॅन्ट परिधान केलेली तरुण मंडळी, नाजूक डिजाईन असलेले ड्रेस आणि अंगभर ओढणी घेतलेल्या मुली, डोक्यावर पदर घेतलेल्या आणि लगबगीने चालत असणाऱ्या स्त्रिया दिसू लागल्या. गावकडचं राहणीमान वेगळंच होतं. या लोकांचे चेहरे उन्हात कष्ट करून काळवंडलेले पण तरीही तेजस्वी दिसत होते, गाव असलं तरी बऱ्याच शहरी गोष्टी त्यांनी आत्मसात केल्या होत्या. तरुण मंडळींच्या हातात स्मार्टफोन होता, बरीच वृद्ध मंडळी मोबाईल वर बोलत होती, अनेकांकडे चांगल्यातल्या दुचाकी होत्या.
सुरभी आणि तिची आई वेशीवर उतरताच हे सगळं त्यांना दिसलं, आई म्हणाली,
“छोट्या चिराग साठी खाऊ घेऊन ये तिकडून..”
सुरभी एका दुकानात जाते, शहरी लोकं आली की ही गावातली मंडळी मोठ्या कुतूहलाने बघत, त्या नजरेला काहीसं ओशाळत सुरभी एका दुकानात गेली आणि तिने काही खाऊ घेतला. खिशातून 500 ची नोट काढली,
“ताई सुट्टे नाहीत का..”
“सुट्टे तर नाहीयेत, थांबा मी आईला विचारून येते. ”
सुरभी आईकडे जाणार तोच त्या स्त्रीने UPI स्कॅन कोड पुढे केला,
“नाहीतर इथून भरा..”
सुरभीला नवल वाटलं, खेडेगावतही आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञान वापरलं जातंय बघून तिला बरं वाटलं. तिने झटपट पैसे भरले आणि खाऊ घेऊन आईकडे आली.
“आता इथून थोडं पुढे चालत जाऊ, गावापासून आत 3 किमी वर मळ्यात आपलं घर आहे”
“हो आई माहितीये, पहिल्यांदा येतेय का मी?”
“पण तू लहानपणी आलेली, आत्ता आठवत असेल की नाही काय माहीत..”
सुरभीला लहानपणीचे दिवस आठवले, सर्व भावंड सुट्टीत गावाला जमत, शेणाने सारवलेलं अंगण, घराबाहेर मोठं अंगण, अंगणात मोठमोठी लिंबाची झाडं, त्याला बांधलेली गुरं.. लहानपणी दिवसभर उनाडक्या करत दिवस कसा निघून जायचा समजायचं नाही. रात्री आजी आणि मामीने चुलीवरची गरम गरम भाकर आणि एखादी रस्सा भाजी, आई छान काला मोडून भाजी कालवून खायला द्यायची, काय चव असायची त्या भाजीला..
थोडं पुढे जाताच एका ठिकाणी त्यांना गर्दी दिसली, तिथे दोन माणसांचं ट्रॅक्टर लावण्यावरून भांडण चाललं होतं. एक साधारण पन्नाशीच्या वयातला माणूस अन दुसरा तिशीतला..
“आरं काढ हिथुन तुझी खटारा..माझी जागा हाय इथं..”
“नाव लिहून ठेवलंय व्हय रं? बापाच्या वयाचा हायेस म्हणून सोडतो..नाहीतर..”
“नायतर काय रे भुसनळ्या???” एका कराऱ्या आवाजात साधारण नव्वदीतील म्हातारी काठी टेकत बाहेर आली आणि त्या मुलावर धावून गेली..
“आजे.. काठी बाजूला कर..”
“न्हाय करणार..माझ्या लेकराला बोलतोस व्हय? आरं त्याची माय अजून जित्ती हाय..”
“म्हातारे, तुला ठाऊक हाय माझा बाप कोण हाये ते?”
“आरं देवा…म्हंजी तुला बि ठाव न्हाय??”
भांडण ऐकायला एव्हाना बरीच गर्दी जमलेली, त्यातच सुरभी आणि आईही एक..वरील संवाद ऐकताच गर्दीला हसू आवरलं नाही, भांडणाची मजा सर्वजण विनोदी नाटकाप्रमाणे घेत होते..
“आगं ईचारून र्हायलो..वळखतीस का माझ्या बापाला?”
“नाय रे राजा..मी वळखलं असतं तर सांगितलं असतं तुला..बबन्या, पोर लय बिच्चारं हाय, अजून त्याला त्याचा बाप माहीत नाय..जा रे बाबांनो धुंडाळून काढा याच्या बा ला..”
“म्हातारे…तुला बघतो मी नंतर..”
“आधी तुझ्या बापाला शोध अन त्याला बघ…चल निघ…!”
सरू आजीच्या तोंडी लागणं सोपं नव्हतं, आजीकडे शब्दाला शब्द तयार असायचा..कुणी काही बोललं आणि आजीकडे त्याचं उत्तर नाही असं कधी झालंच नाही. या वयातही आजी कडक होती.
सुरभी खरं तर ते सगळं ऐकून खूप हसत होती, आजीने दिलेली उत्तरं तिला मजेशीर वाटली..आईने तिला गप केलं आणि ते गावच्या दिशेने चालायला लागले. रस्त्याने चालत असताना आजूबाजूला हिरवीगार शेतं, मधेच एखादी झोपडी लागे, झोपडीतून एखादं बाहेर येई आणि या दोघींना दूरवर जाईपर्यंत न्याहाळत राही..
“आई हे असं का बघतात आपल्याकडे?”
“अगं त्यांना कुतूहल असतं शहरी माणसांचं..”
“आई मला त्या आजीचं कौतुक वाटतं बघ, म्हणजे आमच्या ऑफिसमध्ये ना आम्हाला अशी हजरजबाबी आणि बोलकी माणसं शोधायला लावलेली..”
“कशासाठी?”
“Standup comedy.. म्हणजे एकपात्री विनोद..सध्या फार ट्रेंड आहे याचा..अशी माणसं शोधणं खरं तर अवघड काम..आम्ही शोधली बरीच, पण गर्दीसमोर त्यांना काही सुचायचं नाही..विनोदाचा टायमिंग जमायचा नाही..मग काय, बंद पडला आमचा शो..”
“सोपं नाही असं सर्वांसमोर एकट्याने विनोद करणं..”
“पण त्या आजींच्या विनोदात नैसर्गिकपणा होता..त्यांचं बोलणं सहज होतं, हावभाव नैसर्गिक होते..गावी याला व्यक्तिविशेषता म्हणत असतील पण आपल्याकडे याला टॅलेंट म्हणतात…”
बोलता बोलता गावातलं घर कधी जवळ आलं समजलंच नाही..घराबाहेर बरीच वर्दळ होती, लग्नघर असल्याने अनेक पाहुणे जमले होते.
“ही त्या अक्काची बहीण..ही तिची थोरली पोर..”
गर्दीतली कुजबुज सुरभीला ऐकू येत होती, शेजारी डोक्यावर पदर असलेल्या बायका एकटक सुरभीकडे बघत होत्या. इतक्यात सुरभीची आजी, मामी आणि आजोबा बाहेर आले आणि सुरभीला जवळ घेत त्यांनी तिचे पटापट मुके घेतले. सुरभी खूप दिवसांनी आजोळी आलेली, बराच बदल झाला होता घरात आणि गावात.
“तुम्ही बसा, मी पाणी अन चहा करून आणते..”
मामी आत निघून गेली..
“आई शेजारच्या घरात लग्न आहे मग इथे इतकी गर्दी का?”
“अगं गावाकडे लग्न म्हणजे पूर्ण गावाचाच सोहळा असतो, आलेले पाहुणे प्रत्येक घरात आळीपाळीने राहतात, म्हणजे एकावर लोड येत नाही..”
शेजारच्या घरात मांडव कार्यक्रम सुरू होता. त्यात एकेक जण सुपडं घेऊन नाचत होतं, डोक्यावर पदर घेतलेल्या बायका एका हाताने सूपडं सांभाळत नाचत होत्या अन दुसऱ्या हाताने डोक्यावरचा पदर सावरत होत्या. एकाच वेळी आनंद घेणं आणि आपली रित सांभाळणं ही दोन्ही कामं सुरू होती.
तेवढ्यात काही तरुण मुलांचा घोळका जमला.
“हुररर…अहा अहा..” आवाज काढत सर्वजण समोरासमोर उभे राहिले, वाजा वाल्याला इशारा करण्यात आला आणि एक तालबद्ध संगीत वाजवण्यात आलं..
या तालावर ताल धरत ती मुलं एकाच लयीत नाचू लागले, त्यांचं ते नाचणं सुरभी एकटक बघतच राहिली..पायांची समान हालचाल, एकाच वेळी घेतलेली गिरकी आणि योग्य तालावर फिरवलेले हात..तो नाच नव्हताच, असं वाटत होतं जणू मनातला आनंद या मुलांच्या पूर्ण शरीरातून ओसंडून बाहेर पडतोय, हावभाव असे की जगाची पर्वा आम्हाला नाही हा अविर्भाव..
“याला तीन ताली प्रकार म्हणतात बरं का..”
आई सुरभीला सांगू लागली..
“तीन ताली? म्हणजे इकडेही डान्स चे प्रकार आहेत?”
“अगं गाव म्हणजे कलेचा खजिना..असे एकेक कलाकार तुला सापडतील ना इथे… बघशीलच तू..”
बोलता बोलता सुरभिचे पाय केव्हा थिरकू लागले तिलाच समजलं नाही..तिने स्वतःकडे पाहिलं आणि पटकन सावरलं..
“इतकी जादू आहे या वातावरणात?”
सुरभीच्या डोळ्यासमोर तिच्या ऑफिस मधली ग्रुप डान्स ची ऑडिशन येऊ लागली..कृत्रिम चेहरे घेऊन शून्य हावभावात तो ग्रुप नाचत होता..सगळं कसं कृत्रिम होतं, कोरिओग्राफरने शिकवलेल्या स्टेप्स आठवून सगळं चाललं होतं..मधेच एखाद्याची स्टेप चुकायची, एकाची चूक पूर्ण ग्रुप चा नाच बिघडवायची..पण समोरचं दृश्य मात्र..अगदी विरुद्ध…
