 Lockdown झालं आणि गंगारामच्या पोटापाण्याचा प्रश्न ऐरणीवर आला. मार्केट मध्ये मध्यवर्ती भागात त्याचं खेळणीचं दुकान, भरपूर चालत असे. दिवसाला हजार एक चा गल्ला जमे. संपूर्ण घर त्यावरच सुरू. मुलांचं शिक्षण, सणवार सगळं या दुकानावरच.एकवेळ मंदी येऊ शकते, ग्राहक कमी होऊ शकतात याची जाणीव असते पण हा आजार येईल अन दुकानं बंद करावी लागतील हे कुणाच्या ध्यानीमनीही नव्हतं. अत्यावश्यक सेवा असणारी दुकानं दिमाखात सकाळी लवकर दुकानं उघडून बसत होती, पण गंगाराम मात्र हातावर हात ठेवून फक्त बघत बसला. 

त्याच्या बायकोला वर्षाला त्याची घालमेल समजत होती, दुकान जेव्हा चालू होईल तेव्हा होईल, पण तोवर आपण काहीतरी व्यवसाय करून हातभार लावूया असं तिच्या मनात आलं.

“अहो, मी काय म्हणते..उन्हाळा लागलाय. पापड, कुरडया मी बनवतेच तर यावेळी जास्त बनवून ठेवते..”

“कशाला? इथे आधीच पैशाची मारामार..” गंगाराम आता कायम चिडक्या सुरात बोलत असायचा, काय करणार, परिस्थितीने भोळवट गंगारामला तसं बनायला भाग पाडलेलं.

“अहो आपल्यासाठी नाही, आपण ते दुसऱ्याला विकू, चार पैसे येतील त्यातून..”
