सॉफ्टवेअर इंजिनियर असलेल्या श्वेता चं लग्न ठरलं आणि आईच्या पोटात गोळाच उठला…मुलगी दूर चालली म्हणून? नाही…तर श्वेता च्या स्वभावामुळे…

श्वेता शाळेपासून कायम अव्वल..अभ्यास सोडून इतर कुठेही लक्ष नसे…अगदी पुस्तकी किडा… नोकरीतही तसंच… कायम कामात लक्ष…जीव ओतून काम करायचं..अगदी ओव्हरटाईम सुद्धा…त्यामुळेच तिला पटापट बढती मिळत गेली…

पण ही कामात इतकी गुंतलेली असे की इतर कुठल्याही गोष्टीत लक्ष नाही…तिला ना घरकाम माहीत होतं ना संसार कसा करायचा या गोष्टी…

आईने तिला इतर गोष्टी शिकवायचा खूप प्रयत्न केला, पण हिला सवड असेल तर ना..

होणारा नवरा सुद्धा सॉफ्टवेअर इंजिनियर आहे आणि त्यामुळे तुला कामात मदत होईल…अशी समजूत घालून श्वेताला केलं गेलं होतं..

पण आईची काळजी वाढत चाललेली..ही मुलगी ऑफिस कामाशिवाय दुसरं काहीही करत नाही. सांगायला गेलं की दुर्लक्ष करते..कसा होणार हिचा संसार?

आईच्या चेहऱ्यावरची सल होणाऱ्या सासूबाईंनी ओळखली…

“विहीनबाई… काळजीत दिसताय…काही अडचण तर नाही ना?”

श्वेताची आई विचार करते, आणि अखेर सांगून टाकते..

“माफ करा पण जे खरं आहे ते तुम्हाला सांगते…उद्या जाऊन अडचण यायला नको, तिची तक्रार यायला नको म्हणून…आमची श्वेता अगदी पुस्तकी किडा… तिला बाहेरचं जग माहीतच नाही. घरातलं एक काम येत नाही..स्वयंपाक येत नाही..तिला सतत ऑफिसचं काम करण्याचा काही मानसिक आजार तर नाही ना अशी आम्हाला शंका आहे…तुम्हाला होकार तर दिलाय, पण उद्या काही अडचण आली तर? माफ करा, पण तुम्हीही एकदा विचार करा…तिला संसार करायचा आहे…पण तिचा स्वभाव हा असा…ती कमी पडली तर तुमची फसवणूक केली असा आरोप…”

“इतकंच ना?” सासूबाई मधेच तोडत म्हणाल्या…

“हे बघा मी सुद्धा इंजिनियरिंग कॉलेज ला प्राध्यापक होते…या इंजिनियर मुलांचा स्वभाव चांगला परिचित असतो मला…काळजी करू नका..संसार करायला मी शिकवेल तिला..”

“पण तुम्हाला..”

“घाबरू नका..आता श्वेताची जबाबदारी माझी..काही चुकलंच तर मी जबाबदार…”

श्वेताच्या आईला हायसं वाटलं..

लग्नाच्या दिवशी मुहूर्ताची वेळ झाली…श्वेता नवरीच्या वेशात खूप सुंदर दिसत होती..

“मुलीला बोलवा…”भटजींनी आदेश सोडला…

“श्वेता खोलीत नाहीये…”

सर्वांना घाम फुटला..शोधाशोध सुरू झाली…

पण सासूबाईंनी बरोबर ओळखलं…त्या टेरेस मध्ये गेल्या… श्वेता तिच्या लॅपटॉप वरून क्लाइन्ट्स सोबत व्हिडीओ कॉल वर होती…सासुबाई तिचं बोलणं होईस्तोवर थांबल्या… व्हिडीओ कॉल वरचा माणूसही 15 मिनिटांवर लग्न येऊन ठेपलेल्या नवरीशी मिटिंग करताना अवाक होऊन बघत होता…

श्वेताचं लग्न आटोपलं…सासूबाईंना बघून ती जरा घाबरली..

“डेडलाईन मिस झाली का??” श्वेता ने विचारलं..

“तुला मुहूर्त म्हणायचंय का?”

“अं?? I MEAN…तेच…”

“नाही अजून..एक्सटेंड केलीये डेडलाईन… चल आता..”

लग्न आटोपलं..बिदाई च्या वेळी आई रडत होती, तेव्हा श्वेता तिची समजूत घालत होती…

“अगं location shift झालं म्हणून कुणी रडतं का?”

आईने कपाळावर हात मारून घेतला…सासूबाईंना हसू आवरेना..नवऱ्याला तिच्या या स्वभावावर प्रेमच जडलं होतं…

श्वेता सासरी तर आली, पण खरी कसोटी सासूबाईंची होती. श्वेता ची जबाबदारी त्यांनी घेतली होती आणि आता तिला घडवायचं होतं नव्याने, संसारासाठी…

श्वेता सासूबाईंकडे आली, जरा दचकतच म्हणाली,

“आई, तुम्हाला तर माझा प्रॉब्लेम माहितीये, मी प्रत्येक गोष्ट टेक्निकली बघते…मी माझ्या कामातून बाहेर येऊच शकत नाहीये…खूप प्रयत्न केला मी…माझं काही चुकलं तर समजून घ्या…”

“तू बोललीस हेच खूप झालं..आता फक्त मी सांगते तेवढं कर..”

श्वेता मन लावून ऐकू लागली..

“हे बघ, आता हे घर म्हणजे तुझं नवीन वर्क लोकेशन समज..नव्या लोकेशन वर आल्यावर आपण आधी काय करतो?”

“तिथल्या वर्क कल्चर सोबत जुळवून घेतो..”

“बरोबर…मग आता तेच करायचं आहे..तुझी इंटर्नशिप सुरू होतेय..”

“इंटर्नशीप” हा टेक्निकल शब्द ऐकताच श्वेता ला अगदी हायसं वाटलं…कारण संसार, नातीगोती, सासुरवास अश्या अवजड शब्दांची भीती तिच्या मनात बसली होती…

“हे बघ, इंटर्नशिप मध्ये आपण सिनियर्स चं काम बघतो, त्यांच्याकडून शिकून घेतो, त्यांना अडचणी विचारतो..आता तेच करायचं…”

“ठीक आहे..मी तुम्ही जे कराल ते सगळं शिकून घेईल..”

“बरं चल..पहिली गोष्ट स्वयंपाक.. आपल्या घरी फक्त बायकांनाच स्वयंपाक करावा लागतो असं नाही..तुझा नवरा आणि सासरे मदत करतात रोज…प्रत्येकाला पूर्ण स्वयंपाक येतो…तुलाही शिकावा लागेल..”

“Okk… मग यासाठी काही manual वगैरे..”

सासुबाई हसल्या..आणि रेसिपीज चं पुस्तक तिच्या हातात ठेवलं…

“हे वाच..आणि नीट अभ्यास कर..”

श्वेता ने मन लावून ते वाचायला सुरुवात केली…

2 दिवसांनी तिने सासूबाईंसमोर रिपोर्ट ठेवला…

“आई…मी पूर्ण स्टडी केला आहे…हा प्रोजेक्ट रिपोर्ट…स्वयंपाकात ज्या गोष्टी कायम लागतात त्यांची लिस्ट…आणि कुठल्या पदार्थातून किती calories मिळतात हेही नमूद केलंय… तुम्हाला रक्त कमी आहे, बीट चा हलवा तुम्हाला योग्य असेल…बाबांचे सांधे दुखतात, त्यांना शेवगा आणि यांना कॅल्शियम साठी फळं..”

“अगं माझे बाय…” सासूबाईंनी तिची दृष्टच काढली…टेक्निकली का असेना..पोरगी संसार अचूकतेने शिकत होती…तिच्या साफ मनाचं सासूबाईंना कौतुक वाटलं…त्यांनी तो प्रोजेक्ट रिपोर्ट घेतला आणि घरात सर्वांना दाखवला…घरातल्यांना त्यावर हसावं की रडावं कळत नव्हतं.. पण सासूबाईंनी डोळे वटारले तसे ते दोघेही वाह वाह करू लागले…

लग्नाच्या गडबडीत घर बरंच खराब झालेलं…वस्तू अस्ताव्यस्त पडल्या होत्या..पडदे खराब झालेले…अश्या वेळी घर आवरायला श्वेता ला शिकवायचं होतं…
