 दुसऱ्या दिवशी पहाटेच तिला जाग आली,

विचारांचं चक्र पुन्हा सुरू झालं..

तिच्या 3 लहानग्या अंकुरची काळजी तिला वाटू लागली..

मिहीरला सोबत हवी म्हणून त्याने लग्न केलं, पण त्याला माझ्या अंकुर ची अडचण वाटायला लागली तर?

अंकुर साठी बापाचं प्रेम तरी का अपेक्षित करू त्याच्याकडून?

विचारचक्र सुरू होतं.. तिला उचंबळून आलं..शांतपणे निजलेल्या अंकुरच्या डोक्यावर हात तिने फिरवला..

हा झोपलाय तोवर अंघोळ आटोपून घेऊ म्हणून ती अंघोळीला गेली..

ती बाथरूम मध्ये होती, आणि इकडे अंकुरला अचानक जाग आली..

त्याने झोपेत काहीतरी भीतीदायक स्वप्न पाहिलं असावं, तो भीतीने रडू लागला…

पण शेजारी आई नाही बघून अजूनच घाबरला…

आतून मंजुषाला आवाज आला, तिच्या काळजात धस्स झालं..तिने पटापट अंगावर पाणी ओतलं, पण बाहेर निघायच्या आत रडण्याचा आवाज बंद झालेला..

आवाजाचा कानोसा घेत तिचं आवरणं मंदावलं…

ती बाहेर आली,

तिने पाहिलं..

अंकुर मिहिरच्या कडेवर शांतपणे झोपी गेलेला..

कदाचित बाप हाच असतो हे त्याला जाणवलं असावं..

मंजुषा काही बोलायच्या आत मिहिरने शशशश…इशारा केला..

ती काही बोलली नाही..

मिहिरने अलगद त्याला बेडवर टाकलं, पांघरूण दिलं..

मंजुषा बघतच राहिली..

अंकुरला त्याने बेडवर अलगद ठेवलं..

पण अंकुरने मात्र त्याचा बोट घट्ट पकडून ठेवला होता..

मिहीरला ते बघून रडू आलं..

माझी इवल्याश्या जीवाला गरज आहे हे जाणवताच त्याच्या आयुष्याला एक नवीन अर्थ मिळाला..

त्याचे डोळे पाण्याने डबडबले.. आणि मंजुषाचेही..

त्या दिवसापासून तिघेही एकमेकांचे आधार बनले..

तो बाप बनला…अंकुर त्याच्या अंगा खांद्यावर वाढू लागला..

एकदा किचनमध्ये काम करताना मंजुषाला मारण्याचा आवाज ऐकू आला, ती पळतच बाहेर आली..

मिहीरने अंकुरला एक धपाटा दिलेला..

“शेवटी सावत्र तो सावत्रच…” तिच्या मनात परत धस्स झालं..

पण नंतर तिला पूर्ण गोष्ट समजली, अंकुरने त्याच्या मित्राकडून त्याला न विचारता पेन्सिल चोरून आणलेली…

तिला प्रश्न पडायचा, सख्ख्या बापाने तरी इतकं प्रेम दिलं असतं का?

पण मनात एक सल, मिहीरचा आजार, मध्ये मध्ये त्याला त्रास व्हायचा,

मिहीर सुन्न पडला, एक क्षणात आपलं पितृत्व कुणीतरी हिरावून घेतल्यासारखं वाटलं…अंकुरला सत्य समजलं..आता पुढे? तो काय म्हणेल?

अंकुरने त्यांच्या पाया पडल्या,

“माफ करा पण माझे वडील हे आहेत इथे…त्यांच्यामुळेच आज मी कलेक्टर झालो…तुम्ही कोण आहात मी ओळखत नाही तुम्हाला, आणि जन्मदात्या वडिलांना मी पाहिलं नाही..ते कोण असतील, त्यांना नमस्कार माझा…पण माझे वडील हे आहेत..”

नातवाला खरं सांगून त्याच्याकडून फायदा करवून घेण्याचा त्या सासू सासऱ्यांचा डाव फसला..

अंकुर पुढे आला, मिहिरला पेढा खाऊ घातला..मिहीर आश्चर्यचकित झालेला..

मंजुषाने अंकुर ला सगळं खरं सांगितलं होतं आधीच..

पण अंकुरने बापाचे पांग फेडले..

मिहीर म्हणाला,

“तू माझ्या आयुष्यात आलास म्हणून इथवर जगत आलो…नाहीतर माझं जिणं अवघड होतं..”

“बाबा, तुम्ही होतात म्हणून आज हा दिवस पाहिला..नाहीतर रस्त्यावर भीक मागत फिरलो असतो..”

मंजुषा ते दृश्य भरल्या डोळ्यांनी बघत होती..

आयुष्यात तडजोड म्हणून लग्न केलं पण देवाचीच रचना होती ती, 

मिहिरच्या रूपात तिला देवदूत भेटला होता…
