 सुनबाईसुद्धा स्वैपाकात तरबेज होती, 

शिक्षण फारसं नव्हतं त्यामुळे नोकरीचा प्रश्न नव्हता,

आता ही आपल्याला मदत करेल,

आपलं नाव, आपला व्यवसाय पुढे नेईल अशी त्यांची अपेक्षा होती,

सुरवातीला ती करायची मदत,

पण हळूहळू काय झालं देव जाणे,

तिचं कामावरून लक्ष उडू लागलं,

स्वैपाकात, किचनमध्ये ती फारसा रस घेत नसे,

लागलं तेवढं फक्त बनवायची,

सासूबाईंना राग यायचा, काळजी पण वाटायची,

पण हळुहळु होईल सगळं नीट, असं म्हणत त्या वाट पहायच्या,

या काळात एक गोड नात त्यांच्या पदरी पडली, 

त्या दिवशी सुनीताबाई पापडं घ्यायला आल्या तेव्हा स्वैपाकघरातून त्यांना भाजी करपल्याचा वास येऊ लागला,

सासूबाईंच्या लक्षात आलं तेव्हा त्यांनी पटकन जाऊन गॅस बंद केला,

सुनबाई मोठा गॅस करून गच्चीवर कपडे सुकवायला निघून गेलेली,

एके दिवशी त्यांनी आपल्या नातीला सोबत घेतलं,

तिला भातुकलीमधली खेळणी आणून दिली,

बायकोलाही बोलावलं, आणि म्हणाले,

“आज नातीसोबत भातुकली खेळ”

सासुबाई गोड हसल्या,

“लहानपणीचा भातुकलीचा खेळ संसारात कधी बदलला कळलाच नाही”

छोटीशी नात बोबड्या भाषेत बोलू लागली,

“आता मी भाकरी बनवणार, तू पाणी घे”

असं म्हणत तिने एक छोटंसं पातेलं घेतलं,

सासुबाई म्हणाल्या,

“अगं ही परात घे भाकरी करायला, पातेल्यात कशी करणार”

पण नात अडून बसली, ऐकेना..सासूबाईंनी शेवटी कौतुकाने “बरं बाई, कर..” म्हटलं,

सासरे हसत होते,

“तुम्हाला काय झालं हसायला?”

“बाईची जात कशी असते पाहिलं ना?”

“हो ना, शिकवलं नाही तरी भाकरी थापायला, लोकांना खाऊ घालायला आवडतं मुलीच्या जातीला..”
