“रोज 7 ला येतेस, नेमकी आज काशीकाय उशिरा आलीस?”

नेहाने उत्तर देण्याचं टाळलं, ती आवरून तडक स्वयंपाकघरात गेली, रवी नुकताच क्लासवरून आला, तो येताच नेहाने आनंदाने त्याचं स्वागत केलं, विचारपूस केली,

“रवी भाऊजी, तुम्हाला जेवायला वाढू का लगेच?”

“वहिनी मी उशिराच जेवण करेन”

“मग आत्ता थोडसं काहीतरी खाऊन घे, हे बघ तुझ्यासाठी गरम गरम कचोरी आणलीय मी..”

“अरेवा, कधीचं म्हणत होतो कचोरी खाईन म्हणून, बरं झालं तू आणलीस”

सुयश बघत होता , नेहाला उशीर का झाला ते त्याला समजलं, काहीसा खजील झाला…

दुसऱ्या दिवशी सुयश नुकताच बेडवरून उठला, त्याला नेहा तयारी करताना दिसली, तो लगेच म्हणाला,

“रवी दुपारी क्लासला जाईल तेव्हा त्याला डबा लागेल, त्याला तिखट जास्त आवडतं.. आणि रोज 2 वेळा ग्लासभर दूध लागतं त्याला..आणि क्लासला जायला त्याला स्कुटी लागेल..तुझा भाऊ असता तर केलंच असतं सगळं, रवी सुद्धा तुझाच भाऊ आहे असं समजून कधी चालशील?”

बोलत बोलत तो किचनमध्ये गेला,त्याने पाहिलं की झणझणीत भाजी, पोळ्या, भात तयारच होतं. जास्तीचं दूधही आणलं गेलेलं..तिकडून नेहाचा फोनवर बोलताना आवाज ऐकू आला,

“मी कॉर्नरवर थांबेन, तू ये अर्ध्या तासात”

सुयशने काही सांगायच्या आत नेहाने सगळं तयार ठेवलेलं..

हे बघून सुयश आपलं कौतुक करेल असं तिला वाटलेलं, पण हे कर्तव्यच आहे तिचं अशी समजूत सुयश करून घेत एकही शब्द बोलत नव्हता.

रवीचे पुरेपूर लाड नेहा करत होती, सुयश फक्त बोलीबच्चन द्यायचा, प्रत्यक्ष काम मात्र नेहा करत असे.

एके दिवशी दोघांनाही ऑफिसमधून यायला उशीर झाला, आल्यावर नेहा म्हणाली,

“आजच्या दिवस बाहेरून काहीतरी मागवूया, जाम थकलेय मी..”

सुयश हे ऐकताच चिडला,

“इन मिन 30 दिवसांसाठी माझा भाऊ आलाय तर तू त्याला बाहेरचं खाऊ घालणार? तुझ्याकडून एक दिवस स्वयंपाक होणार नाही? नाटकं आहेत सगळी, माझ्या भावाचं तुला जीवावर आलंय ते सांग ना..”

हे ऐकून नेहालाही राग आला,

“काय बोलताय कळतंय ला तुम्हाला? उगाच तोंडात येईल ती बडबड करू नका”

आवाज ऐकून रवी बाहेर आला,

“रवी..तुला बाहेरचं खायची गरज नसेल, तुझी वहिनी नाटकं करत असली तरी तुझा भाऊ अजून आहे म्हटलं..”

हे ऐकून रवी चिडला,

“दादा तू वहिनीला असं कसं बोलू शकतोस? मी आल्यापासून वहिनी सकाळी पाच पासून उठून कामाला लागतेय, मला काय आवडतं काय नाही हे आईला विचारून घेतलेलं तिने, मला कसलीही कमी पडू दिली नाही, वर तू तिलाच बोलतोय? आणि जेवणाचं म्हणशील तर वहिनी दमली आहे, तिला मी बाहेर नेतो जेवायला, तुला यायचं तर ये नाहीतर बस घरीच..”

हे ऐकून नेहाच्या डोळ्यात पाणी आलं, सुयशही खजील झाला..रवीने वाहिनीच्या प्रेमाची जाण ठेवली होती..सुयशला समजून चुकलं की आपली बायकोबद्दलची मतं आपण उगाच चुकीची मांडत होतो..

काही दिवसांनी रवी घरी गेला, जातांना नेहाने भरपूर वस्तू त्याच्याकडे गावी पाठवल्या,

काही महिने सरले, नेहाचा भाऊ 2 दिवस राहायला येणार असं समजलं..
