ती घरीच असायची,

त्याच्या मते,

घरातली कामं आणि मुलांचं आवरणं,

यापलीकडे काहीही काम नाही तिला…

तो घरी यायचा,

अगदी कधीही,

मुलं जवळ आली की दोन क्षण त्यांचे पापे घ्यायचा आणि बायकोकडे त्यांना सोपवून खोलीत जायचा,

“चल मला वाढ,  आणि मी झोपतो लगेच, फार दमलो आहे..”

त्याचं रोजचं वाक्य,

त्याला आठवलं,

तो घरी आला की बायको हळूच म्हणायची,

“माझं डोकं दुखतंय हो जरा..”

“डॉक्टरकडे जाऊन ये ना मग..”

“जाऊन आले, औषधं घेतली तेवढं बरं वाटतं.. नंतर त्रास होतो परत..”

एवढा संवाद कानी पडेपर्यंत तो झोपलेला असायचा..

पुन्हा कधीतरी…

“माझं आज डोकं भणभणतंय..काल ते औषध घेतलेलं ना तर..”

“आज तर मला जेवायला उसंत मिळाली नाही, एक पोळी जास्त वाढ आणि डब्यातल्या पण काढून घे..बसून बसून पाठ जाम झाली आहे, असं वाटायचं तिथेच आडवं होऊन पडून घ्यावं..”

तिचं ऐकण्यापूर्वीच तो त्याची अडचण पुढे करायचा,

मग त्याला आठवायचं,

“तू काय म्हणत होतीस? डोकं थांबलं नाही का?”

त्याचं ऐकून ती शांत व्हायची,

याच्या स्वतःच्या इतक्या अडचणी आहेत, आपल्यामुळे अजून कशाला त्रास,

“काही नाही, बाम लावला की होईल ठीक..”

तो त्याच्या थकव्याचे पाढे ऐकवत झोपी जायच्या,

हिचा त्रास बाजूलाच…
