“मग आता मी काय करते ते बघ..तुझ्या आईला दुखवायचा किंवा अपमानित करण्याचा माझा काही हेतू नाही…पण त्यांच्यातली अंधश्रद्धा दूर करायची म्हणजे मला थोडं चाकोरीबाहेर जाऊन वागावं लागेल….”

घरी जातांना केतन ला किरकोळ लागतं… आई पाहते आणि म्हणते…

“नजर लागली माझ्या लेकराला..ये मी नजर काढते तुझी…”

असं म्हणत आई अजब प्रकार करून शिवी देत देत हातातून झाडूच्या शेपट्या, कागद, कपड्याच्या चिंध्या ओवाळून बाहेर फेकते..

केतन श्रद्धा ला मेसेज करतो…

“मला खूप लागलंय..” असं सांगतो… या निमित्ताने तरी श्रद्धा आपली काळजी घेऊन प्रेमाचे गोड शब्द बोलेल असं त्याला वाटलं….नाहीतर “कुणाला कसं गुंडाळलं.. कुणाची कशी जिरवली…” याशिवाय तिच्याकडे दुसरे विषयच नसत…काहीही असो, पण केतनला तिच्या याच स्वभावामुळे ती आवडायची…

मंदिराबाहेरचा बाबा दारात हजर…

“या बाबा..”

“मुलावर संकट आलंय… पण काल त्या मुलीचे पाय तुमच्या दाराला लागले आणि संकट टळलं…”

“आणि हो…हा घ्या देवाचा धागा…रोज मंत्र म्हणुन मी तो गुंडाळून ठेवते…तुम्हीही सुरवात करा…चांगलं असतं..”

“गुंडाळायच्या बाबतीत तर हिचा कुणी हात धरूच शकत नाही…” केतन पुटपुटतो…

केतन श्रद्धा ला सोडायला जातो…

“श्रद्धा ते सगळं ठिके गं… पण लग्नानंतर नोकरी केलेली आईला आवडणार नाही…आलेल्या सुनेनेच घरातलं सगळं करावं अशी तिची अपेक्षा….ती फक्त गंडे दोरे यातच अडकून राहील सून आल्यावर…कसं होईल तुझं..”

“काळजी नको…असा काही डाव टाकेल की सासुबाई स्वतः मला नोकरीवर पिटाळतील आणि गंडयादोऱ्यात अडकून न राहता घरातल्या कामात अडकून राहतील..”
