प्रमोदला तिची लाज वाटत होती…

बऱ्याच ठिकाणी तिला न्यायला तो टाळत असे..

तिच्या आता लक्षात आलं..

तिने आरशात बघितलं..

तिचं शरीर तिचं तरी कुठे होतं…

सगळी कष्ट मुलं आणि नवऱ्यासाठी..

ज्या शरीराला राबवून त्यांची पोट ती भरत असे, त्यांचं उठण्यापासून सगळं आवरत असे त्याचीच त्यांना लाज वाटू लागलेली…

तिकडे प्रमोद पार्टीत व्यस्त होता..

“केतकीची तब्येत ठीक नव्हती, नाहीतर आली असती तीही..”

तो सर्वांना सांगत होता..

माणसं वरच्या हॉल मध्ये व्यस्त होते आणि बायकांसाठी खालच्या हॉल मध्ये वेगवेगळे कार्यक्रम ठेवले होते..

इकडे केतकीचं लक्ष अचानक टेबलकडे गेलं..

प्रमोद फाईल इथेच विसरला होता..

तिला काळजी वाटू लागली..

कसलाही विचार न करता पटकन कसंतरी आवरलं आणि ती पार्टीत गेली..

चेहऱ्यावर रुमाल बांधून घेतला..

कुणालाही कळू न देता नवऱ्याच्या हातात फाईल द्यायची अन निघून यायचं हेच तिने ठरवलं होतं..

ती आत गेली,

कसलातरी गोंधळ सुरू होता..

सगळीकडे धूर दिसत होता..

वरच्या हॉल मधून आगीचे लोट निघत होते..

सर्वजण ओरडत होते, आक्रोश करत होते..

माणसं ज्या हॉल मध्ये होती तिथे शॉर्ट सर्किट झालेलं..

खालून बायका ओरडत होत्या, रडत होत्या..

कुणीतरी वाचवा आमच्या माणसांना..

केतकीला समजलं आणि एकच धडकी भरली..

काय करावं सुचेना..

पटकन तिथल्या सर्व खिडक्यांचे पडदे ओढून अंगावर लपेटले..

जिन्यातून ज्या बायका ओरडत होत्या त्यांच्यामधून वाट काढत ती झरकन जिना चढून वर गेली..
