 नवरा आणि प्रियकर, दोघेही एकमेकांकडे पाहू लागले,

कारण आता जे होणार होतं त्यावरून त्यांच्या प्रेमाची परीक्षा ठरणार होती,

वीज कडाडली की ती खूप घाबरायची,

अगदी लहानपणापासून, 

त्या आवाजाचा फोबिया होता तिला,

वीज कडाडली की त्या आकाश दुमदुमून टाकणाऱ्या आवाजाला ती घाबरत जवळच्या माणसाला जाऊन बिलगायची,

लहानपणी आई जवळ घेई,

कधी तिचा प्रियकर,

आणि आता नवरा…

या दोघांनाही हे माहीत होतं,

दोघेही तिच्या बाजूला उभे,

आणि खरोखर त्याक्षणी दणाणून सोडणारा आवाज आला,

वीज कडाडली, 

त्या आवाजाने सगळा परिसर दणाणून निघाला,

तिची धडधड वाढली,

तिने पटकन आपल्या नवऱ्याचा हात घट्ट पकडला,

नवऱ्याने तिला शांत केलं,

प्रियकर बघतच होता,

लिफ्ट मोकळी झाली, तिघेही बाहेर पडले..

नवऱ्याला समाधान मिळालेलं,

ही भूतकाळात रमली नाही,

शेवटी माझाच हात पकडला..

प्रियकर बाहेर पडला आणि एका आडोशाजवळ जाऊन मोकळेपणाने रडू लागला,

कारण एका हाताने तिने नवऱ्याचा हात घट्ट पकडला असला तरी,

दुसऱ्या हाताची मूठ घट्ट आवळली होती,

रोखलं होतं त्या हाताला मोठ्या मुश्किलीने,

त्या आवळलेल्या मुठीची पकड, नवऱ्याच्या पकडलेल्या हातापेक्षा घट्ट होती,

हा क्षण तिघांनीही जिंकला होता…

नवऱ्याचा हक्क जिंकला होता,

प्रियकराचं प्रेम जिंकलं होतं,

आणि तिचं कर्तव्य जिंकलं होतं…
