प्रियकराने घाबरत विचारलं,

“प्रियांका बरं नाहीये का?”

ती मौन होती,

नवरा म्हणाला,

“अगं तो काहीतरी विचारतोय”

“हो..”

एवढंच तिने उत्तर दिलं,

नवरा म्हणाला,

“अशी अनोळखी सारखी का वागतेय? एकेकाळी तुझा मित्र होता ना तो..बाकीच्या गोष्टी सोडून दे, एक मित्र म्हणून बोल त्याच्याशी..”

ती अवघडली,

प्रियकर म्हणाला,

“भाग्यवान आहेस..”

तिने त्याच्या डोळ्यात पाहिलं, जुन्या भावना जाग्या झाल्या,

पूर्वी जे प्रेम त्याच्या डोळ्यात दिसत होतं ते आजही तसंच होतं,

“मग, लग्न बिग्न केलं की नाहीस मित्रा?”

नवऱ्याने वातावरण हलकं करण्यासाठी म्हटलं,

“लग्न? आयुष्यभर असाच राहणार मी”

त्याच्या या उत्तराने तिला बांध फुटायचाच राहिला,

एकमेकांना वचनं दिलेली त्यांनी,

आयुष्यभर साथ देण्याची, असशील तर तूच, नाहीतर ती जागा रिक्त राहील..

त्याने ते वचन पाळलं,

ती मात्र पुढे निघून गेली,

“असं कसं? लग्नाचं वय निघून जाईल..भूतकाळात जगून चालत नाही मित्रा, आयुष्य पुढे जगावं लागतं..” नवरा म्हणाला..

“आयुष्यातल्या काही जागा अढळ असतात, ते स्थान कधीही न बदलता येण्यासारखं असतं”

“हा आपला भ्रम आहे, सहवास आणि वास्तव..माणसाला समोरच्या व्यक्तीवर प्रेम करायला भाग पाडतं”

“आपलं प्रेम परिस्थितीच्या हातात का सोपवायचं?”

“कारण आपण त्याच्या आधीन आहोत, सगळ्या गोष्टी माणसाच्या मनाप्रमाणे घडल्या तर आयुष्याला किंमत राहणार नाही”

“निर्जीव वस्तूंचं ठीक आहे,

पण माणसांच्या जागा अढळ आहेत माझ्या आयुष्यात”

“ज्या माणसांची तू गोष्ट करतोय ती पुढे निघून गेली, तू अजूनही तिथेच घुटमळत बसलाय”

“कदाचित माझा काळ तिथेच थांबलाय, त्याच आठवणींपाशी घुटमळत राहतोय”

दोघांचं बोलणं ती ऐकत होती, एकीकडे मनात भीती आणि दुसरीकडे आपल्या प्रियकराचं विस्कटलेलं आयुष्य बघून गळा दाटून येत होता,

15 मिनिटं झाली, टेक्निशियनचा काम करण्याचा आवाज येत होता,

थोड्याच वेळात ते तिघे बाहेर पडणार होते,

बाहेर पाऊस पडत होता,

त्याचा वेग वाढतच होता,

वीज कडाडणार असे संकेत दिसत होते,
