नाईक आणि जैन त्या 2 संशयितांना पकडण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात, ते हाती लागताच त्यांची चौकशी होते.. खूप मार खाल्ल्यानंतर ते कबूल होतात की या ठिकाणी हल्ला करणार होते. त्यांच्याकडून भरपूर बॉम्बसाठा जप्त करण्यात आला. नाईक आणि जैन एक सुस्कारा टाकतात, त्यांनी फार मोठी कामगिरी केली होती.

शौर्या नाईकांना फोन करून सगळं विचारते आणि माहिती घेते. ज्या पद्धतीने हे सगळं घडलं ते शौर्याला पटतच नव्हतं. या विचारात असतानाच तिचा नवरा येतो..

“मी दूध घेऊन येतो, घरातलं संपलं आहे, हॉस्पिटलमध्ये चहा आणायला लागेल..”

“तुम्ही इथे थांबा..मला जरा पाय मोकळे करायचे आहे…मी जाते..”

“ठीक आहे..”

शौर्या दरवेळी पिशवीतील दूध वापरत असे, पण थोडं पुढे गेलं की एक गोठा होता, तिथून ताजं दूध आणूया असं तिने ठरवलं…तिथे गेल्यावर तिला जरा प्रसन्न वाटलं, गायींच्या सहवासात तिचं मन जरा हलकं झालं, बाजूला शेती होती, त्यावरून थंडगार झुळूक तिच्या चेहऱ्यावरून गेली, गायींच्या गळ्यातील घंटीचा मधुर नाद घुमत होता..इतक्यात तिथला शेतकरी मालक तिथे आला..

“ताई काय हवंय??”

“दूध मिळेल का 1 लिटर??”

“हो ताई लगेच आणतो, तुम्ही बसा..”

शौर्या एका ठिकाणी बसली, बाजूला काही माणसं दूध काढत होती, काही गौऱ्या थापत होती…

“हे घ्या ताई, अजून काही लागलं की जरूर सांगा..”

“हो..ही सगळी तुमची माणसं आहेत का??”

“नाही ताई, राम मंदिरात जो कार्यक्रम आहे ना त्याच्या हवन साठी गौऱ्या तयार करताय…कडक ऊन आहे, एका दिवसात बनून जातील..आणि हे कामही भक्त मंडळीच करताय…”

शौर्या दूध घेऊन तिथून निघते…हॉस्पिटलमध्ये गडबड चाललेली असते…तिचा नवरा धावत येतो..

“बंटीची तब्येत बिघडली आहे, त्याला ऑक्सिजन वर ठेवण्यात आलंय.. चल तू लवकर..”

दोघेही ICU बाहेर असतात, डॉक्टर सांगतात की पुढील काही तास खूप महत्वाचे आहेत..

रात्र सरते…शौर्याला काही रात्री झोप लागेना..ती परत खिडकीपाशी आली…राम मंदिराची तयारी सुरूच होती..

रात्र सरते…सकाळी डॉक्टर बंटीला चेक करून काहीतरी सांगणार होते, शौर्या आणि तिचा नवरा ते ऐकण्यासाठी बाहेरच बसून राहिले…बसल्या बसल्या शौर्याला अचानक धडकी भरते..कुठल्या तरी विचाराने तिचा थरकाप उडतो…ती तातडीने तिथून उठून जाते..

“शौर्या कुठे जातेस..”

“माझ्या देशाचा प्रश्न आहे..माझी गरज आहे, मला जायला हवं..”

शौर्या तातडीने आपल्या ऑफिसमध्ये जाते, नाईक आणि जैन बसून आरामशीर चहा घेत असतात..

“म्हणजे??”

“म्हणजे आमदार साहेबांच्या कार्यक्रमाची माहिती गोळा करणारा इसम इतक्या सहजासहजी कसा सापडला?? आमदार साहेबांच्या स्टेज खाली नेमकं तुमच्या समोरच कसा बॉम्ब ठेवण्यात आला?? आणि ती लोकं इतक्या सहजासहजी कशी हातात आली??”

“तुम्हाला काय म्हणायचं आहे??”

“हे सगळं रचलेलं आहे , आपल्या शोधाला वेगळं वळण देण्याचा प्रयत्न केला गेलाय जेणेकरून दहशतवादी त्यांचं काम सहजपणे करू शकतील..त्यांनी आमदारांच्या कार्यक्रमात हल्ला करायचं कबुल केलं आणि तुम्ही विश्वास ठेवला?? दहशतवादी वेगळाच प्लॅन करत होते आणि आपल्याला वेगळ्याच शोधात त्यांनी गुंतवलं..”

“मग हल्ला कुठे??”

“राम मंदिराच्या रामनवमी सोहळ्यात..”

सर्व पोलीस त्या जागी जमा होतात…शौर्या आपल्या साडीतील वेशातच बंदूक घेऊन त्या ठिकाणी जाते…आसपास ती सगळी पाहणी करते…अखेर होमहवनच्या ठिकाणी ती पोचते..

गुरुजी होम पेटवतात, मंत्रोच्चार सुरू होतो…मागून एक इसम येतो आणि शौर्या त्याला पाहून अवाक होते..

हाच तो…किराणा दुकानात ज्याने मला वस्तू दिलेल्या आणि ते वर्तमानपत्र उर्दूत होतं… हाच तो जो त्या दिवशी खिडकीतून मला दिसलेला, राम मंदिराच्या कार्यक्रमासाठी धावपळ करत होता.. हाच तो जो गोठ्याच्या ठिकाणी गौऱ्या थापायचं काम करत होता…

त्याने गुरुजींजवळ एक गौरी दिली…गुरुजी ती हवनात टाकणार इतक्यात शौर्याने हवनावर झेप घेत तिला बाजूला फेकलं… सर्वजण उठून उभे राहिले…काय गोंधळ चालुये हा??

नाईक आणि जैन मिळून त्याला पकडतात…तो पळून जाण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो पण अखेर ताब्यात येतो…जैन त्या गौरीची तपासणी करतात, त्यातून एक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक वायर बाहेर आलेली असते, ते दचकतात…

“अत्यंत भयानक बॉम्ब आहे हा , हवनात जर पेटला असता तर अत्यंत गंभीर असे परिणाम झाले असते..”

दुसरा दहशतवादीही ते लवकर ताब्यात घेतात, एका मोठ्या हल्ल्यापासून देशाचे रक्षण झालेले , आणि तेही शौर्याच्या चाणाक्ष बुद्धीमुळे…

सर्वजण शौर्याचं कौतुक करायला पुढे येतात, मीडिया जमा होते, पण शौर्या सर्वांना बाजूला करत हॉस्पिटलमध्ये धाव घेते..

“बंटी…कसा आहे बंटी??”

“डॉक्टर म्हणाले तो धोक्याच्या बाहेर आहे..”

प्रचंड दमलेली शौर्या ते ऐकून दीर्घ श्वास घेते अन मटकन खाली बसते..तिचा नवरा डोक्यावरून हात फिरवतो,

“आता तू आराम कर…शेकडो लोकांना जीवनदान दिलं आहेस तू…आता शांत झोप लागेल तुला..”

दुसऱ्या दिवशी,

“शौर्या मॅडम, तुमच्या कामगिरी मुळे तुम्हाला राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार जाहीर झालाय…आणि मोठ्या शहरात तुमची बदली झालीये..विथ प्रमोशन..”

“अगबाई, कुठे??”

“मुंबईला..”

“अरेवा…म्हणजे आता मस्त कोळंबी करता येईल, इथे काय महाग मिळायची.. आणि हा, मी जरा पाच दिवस सुट्टी घेते हा..”

“कशाला??”

“आता तिथे लोणची पापडं कशी करणार?? इथूनच करून नेईल मी…नाईक, मिसेस नाईकांकडून मला तेवढं पापड दाबायचं मशीन तेवढं घरी पोचवून द्या..”

(कितीही झालं तरी लोणची पापडातून बाईचा जीव काही सुटत नाही…चला आता, मॅडम मुंबईत काय दिवे लावणार कुणास ठाऊक…तोपर्यंत निरोप घेते)
