 नाहीच ऐकलं तर माहेरी राहीन, 

पण पुन्हा त्या माणसाचं तोंड पाहणार नाही..

ती माहेरी गेली,

तिला पाहून आईला आनंद झाला,

छोटंसं घर,

त्यात वडील अंथरुणाला खिळलेले,

भाऊ वहीनी चांगल्या मनाचे,

तिचं छान स्वागत केलं,

चहा नाष्टा झाला,

आईने वहिनीला सांगितलं,

छान खीर बनव आज गोड,

वहिनी आत गेली,

भावाला आत बोलावलं,

“अहो दूध आणता का थोडं? घरी कमी शिल्लक आहे..”

“दे बरं 100 रुपये..”

तो म्हणाला तसं ती थांबली,

पण लगेच पैसे काढून दिले,

“हे शामु च्या फी चे पैसे काढून ठेवलेले ना?”

“फी चं बघता येईल हो, तुम्ही जा आधी..”

मनीषाने सगळं ऐकलं..

वाईट वाटलं तिला..

नंतर आई जवळ येऊन बसली,

आईची विचारपूस केली,

“आई तब्येत काय म्हणते तुझी?”

“मी बरी आहे गं… थोडंफार दुखणं सुरू राहतं..”

“आईना म्हणतेय कधीचं, शहरात जाऊन दाखवू, पण ऐकतील तेव्हा..” वहिनी म्हणाली,

“कशाला एवढा खर्च? काही नाही होत मला..” आई म्हणाली,

घरात पैशांची चणचण, त्यात मुलाला अन सुनेला भार नको म्हणून आई अंगावर काढत होती,

वडिलांचा खर्च काय कमी होता? 

मनीषाजवळ शिक्षण नव्हतं, त्यामुळे नोकरीचा प्रश्नच नव्हता,

कमवायचं काही साधन नव्हतं,

त्यामुळे तीही काही मदत करू शकत नव्हती,

तेवढ्यात तिचा भाचा येऊन आत्याला बिलगला,

आत्याची पिशवी चाचपडू लागला,

दोन बिस्कीटपुडे त्याला सापडले तसा तो आनंदी झाला..

आईला म्हणाला,

“आई तुझ्याकडे नसतात पैसे पण माझ्या आत्याकडे खूप पैसे आहेत…बघ मला कसा खाऊ आणला तिने..”

वहिनी त्याला शांत बस म्हणून खुणावू लागली,

मनीषाला गलबलून आलं..

यांची परिस्थिती अशी, आपली काही मदत तर नाहीच,

वर आपलं दुःखं यांना सांगून सगळं अवघड करून ठेवायचं?

तिने विचार बदलला,

आईने विचारलं,

“तुझं बाकी सगळं ठीक ना?”

“एकदम मजेत आई, काहीच तक्रार नाही..”

डोळ्यातलं पाणी मोठ्या मुश्किलीने लपवून ती हसत म्हणाली,

आईच्या डोळ्यातलं समाधान तिला सुखावून गेलं,

निदान आपलं दुःखं लपवून माहेरी समाधान मिळत असेल तर अशी हजारो दुःखं लपवायची ताकद तिच्यात आली..

भाच्याच्या हातात पैसे टेकवले,

तेवढ्यात वाहिनीचे आई वडील आले,

त्यांच्या गप्पा झाल्या,

वहिनीच्या आईने विचारलं,

“कशी आहेस?”

“एकदम मजेत..” वहिनी हसतमुखाने म्हणाली,

पण तिने आतल्या आत गिळलेला आवंढा फक्त मनीषाला समजला..

दिवस सरला,

आणि सर्वांचा निरोप घेऊन ती निघाली,

स्वतःची लढाई एकटीनेच लढायला…
