दोघी मैत्रिणी शेवटच्या बाकावर बसत,

शिक्षिका काय शिकवतात याकडे लक्ष देऊन ऐकत,

एके दिवशी बाईंनी दोघींना उभं राहायला लावलं,

दोघींना कळेना, त्यांची काय चूक…

“बघा या दोघी, नुसत्या ठोंब्यासारख्या बसून असतात”

मैत्रिणीला रडू कोसळलं,

पण सुमन…ती कसली रडते, तिने शिक्षिकेला रडवलं,

“काय ओ मॅडम? नुसत्या बसून राहतात म्हणजे काय? तुम्ही शिकवत असतांना आम्ही बाकावर उभं राहून नाचायला हवं का?  तुम्ही शिकवताना आम्ही शांतपणे लक्ष देऊन ऐकतो तर त्यात काय खटकलं तुम्हाला?”

तिच्या नादाला कुणी लागलं तर कुणालाच सोडायची नाही ती,

सगळा वर्ग हसायला लागला,

शिक्षिका अजून चिडली, घरी नवऱ्याशी भांडण करून आलेली आणि इथे मुलांवर राग काढत होती,

तिने पटकन तिला मुख्याध्यापकांकडे नेलं,

आणि सगळं सांगितलं,

मुख्याध्यापक म्हणाले,

“शिक्षिकेशी असं बोलतात का?”

“माझी ईच्छा नव्हती सर, पण माझी चूक काय हे त्यांनी सांगावं.. मी म्हणाल ती शिक्षा भोगायला मी तयार आहे..”

शिक्षिकेला प्रश्न पडला, काय सांगावं? पण काहीतरी सांगावं लागणार होतं,

“ही वर्गात लक्ष देत नाही, सतत चुळबूळ चालू असते”

“तुम्ही तर मला नुसती बसून असते म्हणून रागावल्या..”

शिक्षकेला उलट प्रश्न तिने विचारला,

“बघा..कशी उत्तर देते” शिक्षिका म्हणाल्या..

“चला लगेच सिद्ध करू, मला आज शिकवत असल्यापैकी कसलाही प्रश्न विचारा”

मुख्यध्यापकांनी पुस्तक मागवलं, तिला प्रश्न विचारले,

तिने सगळी उत्तरं बरोबर दिली,

मग शिक्षिकेनी तिला मुद्दाम तिला न झालेल्या पाठाचे प्रश्न विचारले तेव्हा ती म्हणाली,

“मॅडम तुम्ही हा धडा शिकवलेला नाही, आणि आज जो धडा शिकवत होतात तो मागच्या आठवड्यातच झालेला..तुमच्या धाकाने मुलं काही बोलत नव्हती एवढंच..

”

आता शिक्षिकेला घाम फुटला,

सुमन निर्दोष सुटका होऊन वर्गात गेली आणि तिकडे मुख्यध्यापकांनी शिक्षिकेची चांगलीच शाळा घेतली..

त्या दिवसापासून सुमनच्या वाट्याला कुणी जात नसे..

आता सासूबाईंची वेळ,

“माझा मुलगा बदलला, तिच्या ताटाखालचं मांजर झाला, तिचं ऐकायला लागला” हे ऐकून ऐकून तिचे कान पिकले..

त्या नवऱ्यालाही पटलं, नेहमीप्रमाणे सुम्भा सारखी मान हलवली,

दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी तो आईला म्हणाला,

“आई आम्ही हिच्या माहेरी जातो, नवीन घर बघून काही दिवसात तिथे राहायला जातो..”
