रामू काका, जे नुकतेच घरात नोकर म्हणून कामाला येत असतात तेच गणपत रावांचे हेर असतात. रामू काका हात जोडून गयावया करतात…

“ताईसाहेब माफ करा… घरात फार गरिबी आहे माझ्या, पैशासाठी हे सगळं केलं…माफ करा…”

सानिका आणि रामू काकांचं दीर्घकाळ बोलणं होतं… आणि अखेर रामुकाका गाव सोडून निघून जातात. गणपतराव रामू काकांशी संपर्क करून करून थकतात…

“आकाश गायब, आता रामू काका गायब…अरे ही पोरगी आहे की कोण आहे??? सगळ्या चाली माझ्यावरच उलटताय….”

जोतिनगर भागात एकच कल्लोळ उठलेला असतो…अचानक जाळपोळ सुरू होते..दुकानं जाळली जातात… काही लोकं रस्त्यावर उतरलेली असतात…जोतिनगर चे नागरिक भयभीत झालेले असतात…कारण त्या भागातील एका ऐतिहासिक महापुरुषाच्या पुतळ्याची कुणीतरी रात्रीतून येऊन विटंबना केलेली असते…त्यामुळे लोकं संतापलेले असतात, वातावरण गढूळ झालेलं असतं…

बबन गणपतरावांजवळ येऊन सांगतो…

“साहेब… लवकर चला…जोतिनगर ला ऱ्हाडा झालाय…”

गणपतराव हसतात, आपल्या गाडीत बसून जायला निघतात.

सानिका ला ही खबर मिळते, ती अपल्या एका टीम मेम्बर ला तडक घटनास्थळी पाठवते…

“काय करायचं माहीत आहे ना?”

“हो मॅम…काळजी करू नका…काम फत्ते होईल…”

टीम मेम्बर आपल्या सोबत कॅमेरा, प्रोजेक्टर आणि इतर बरीच उपकरणं घेऊन गणपतरावांच्या सभेच्या ठिकाणी पोहोचतो..

गणपतराव सर्व जमावाला एकत्र करून भाषण द्यायला सुरुवात करतात…कार्यकर्त्यांनी आधीच सभेची तयारी केलेली असते, मंडप, स्टेज, गर्दीला दिसावं म्हणून मोठा प्रोजेक्टर…

“आपल्या राज्यात हे असलं काही खपवून घेतलं जाणार नाही…अरे पुतळ्याची विटंबना करताय काय? ज्याने कुणी हे केलं असेल त्याला चांगलाच तुडवला पाहिजे…मी हे खपवून घेणार नाही…उद्याच या ठिकाणी याहून मोठा पुतळा उभारला जाईल… सर्व खर्च मी करेन…पण प्रश्न पडतो हे कुणी केलं असेल? उघड्या डोळ्यांनी विचार करा…आजकालची तरुण पोरं पोरी..स्वतःला शिकलेले समजतात…आम्हाला फार येतं असं दाखवतात…रात्री अपरात्री नाच धिंगाणा घालत आणि दारू पिऊन झटके देणारी आजची कॉलेजची मुलं.. मुली पण काही कमी नाहीत बरं का…पण माझ्यासारखा तत्ववादी माणूस हे सहन करणार नाही.”

गणपतरावांचा इशारा सानिका कडे जात होता…

गणपतराव बोलत असतांनाच समोर असलेल्या गर्दीमध्ये एकच चुळबूळ सुरू झाली, सर्वजण कुजबुजु लागले. गणपतरावांकडे कुणाचंही लक्ष नव्हतं…

गणपतराव ते बघून गोंधळतात…काय प्रकार चालू आहे?

अचानक गणपतरावांच्या अंगावर एक दगड मारला जातो….हळूहळू लोकं हातात येईल ते गणपत रावांना मारायला सुरुवात करतात…गणपतराव आपला बचाव करत तिथून सुरक्षित ठिकाणी जातात…आणि थोड्याच वेळात सानिका चा आवाज ऐकू येतो…

असं नेमकं काय घडलेलं असतं?

स्टेजवर जो प्रोजेक्टर म्हणजेच मोठी स्क्रिन लावलेली असते त्यावर गणपत रावांचा लाईव्ह व्हिडीओ दिसत होता…पण भाषण चालू असताना मधेच एक दुसरा व्हिडीओ सुरू होतो…त्यात दिसतं की ..

प्रोजेक्टर वर अचानक हा व्हिडीओ दाखवला गेला..त्यात जी दोन कार्यकर्ते पुतळ्याची विटंबना करत होते तीच स्टेजवर उभी त्यांना दिसली…सर्वांना समजलं की हे गणपतरावांचंच काम आहे….जनतेत संताप उसळला….
