मंगेशने डायऱ्यांची माहिती देऊन खूप मोठं काम केलं होतं. कारण त्या डायरीत प्रत्येकाने आपापल्या जीवनाबद्दल लिहिलं होतं, अगदी लहानपणापासून, आणि आज त्यातलं कुणीही हयात नव्हतं. आजोबांनी एक वाचनालय सुरू केलं होतं, त्यांचे सर्व विद्यार्थी तिथे येऊनच डायरी लिहीत आणि तिथेच एका कपाटात सर्वांच्या डायऱ्या कुलूपबंद असायच्या. अगदी शेवटपर्यंत सर्वजण डायरी लिहीत होते, आणि आज त्यांचा खऱ्या अर्थाने उपयोग होणार होता.

“मंगेश, त्या डायऱ्या पटापट आपल्या ताब्यात घे..आणि हो, आपल्याला अजून एक माणूस लागेल, डायरीतील सर्व माहिती डेटाबेस मध्ये भरायला एक माणूस लागेल, हे ऑटोमॅटिक नाही करता येणार, manually कुणालातरी बसवून हे काम करवून घ्यावं लागेल”

“मी बघतो असा एखादा मुलगा..आणि हो, सोबतच आपणही आपल्या आयुष्याच्या आठवतील तेवढ्या घडामोडी डेटाबेस मध्ये टाकूयात आणि आजपासून रोज, डायरी म्हणून याच डेटाबेस मध्ये दिनचर्या लिहून ठेवत जाऊया, जेवढी जास्त माहिती असेल तेवढं जास्त अचूक भाकित मिळेल..”  नरेंद्र म्हणाला..

“ठीक आहे, डेटाबेस तयार झाल्याशिवाय आपलं काम गतीने होणार नाही, तोवर इतर कामं करून घेऊया.. प्रोग्रॅमिंग आणि रिसर्च चालू देऊयात..”

“ईशानी अगं अगदी टोकाचा निर्णय घेतेय तू..इतकं काहीही झालेलं नाहीये, आणि सारंगने मनापासून माफी मगितलीय तुझी तरी का असं करतेय??” इशानीची मैत्रीण अनघा तिला समजावत होती.

“प्रश्न माफीचा नाही, विश्वासाचा आहे. मान्य की कॉलेजला असताना इंद्रजित आणि मी एकत्र होतो, पण नंतर आमच्या वाटा वेगळ्या झाल्या..प्रामाणिकपणे मी लग्नबंधनात अडकले. पण म्हणून असा अविश्वास??”

“अगं विश्वास असतो पण आंधळा विश्वास ठेवायला माणूसही कचरतो. इंद्रजित स्वतः आला आणि तुझ्याकडे परत येण्याची मागणी करू लागला..आणि सारंग आणि तुझं आधीच भांडण चालू असल्याने त्याला शंका येणं साहजिक आहे..माणसाचा डोळ्यांवर जास्त विश्वास असतो..मानवी मर्यादा आहे तिला आपण तरी काय करणार??”

“पण इंद्रजित असा का वागला असेल??जेवढं मी त्याला ओळखायची, आम्ही वेगळे झाल्यावर 2 महिन्यात दुसऱ्या मुलीसोबत दिसला होता तो. आणि आता एकदम एकतर्फी प्रेमात वेडा झाल्यासारखा का वागला?? सारंग समोर नाटक का केलं की मी त्याच्या संपर्कात आहे म्हणून??”

“तो तसा का वागला याहीपेक्षा महत्वाचं आहे तुझा संसार टिकवणं… बघ, अजूनही वेळ आहे, तुझ्या घरी अजून समजलेलं नाहीये, विचार कर पुन्हा..”

“मला वेळ हवाय..”

ईशानीने डिओर्स चे पेपर सारंगला पाठवले होतेच, पण मनोमन सारंगने कुठलाही निर्णय घेऊ नये असंच तिला वाटत होतं. सारंग मात्र त्याच्या कामात व्यस्त असल्याने बाकीच्या गोष्टींचा त्याला विसरच पडलेला. ईशानी आपल्या घरी सांगायला कचरत होती, कारण तिच्या वडिलांनी खूप चौकशी करून सारंगला निवडलं होतं. ईशानीचे वडील म्हणजे राज्यातले मोठे उद्योजक. प्रचंड श्रीमंतीत वाढलेली ईशानी सारंग सारख्या प्रामाणिक आणि कष्टाळू मुलासोबत सुखी राहील असाच विचार आबांनी केला होता.

मंगेशने डायऱ्या जमा केल्या, त्यात त्या 50-60 लोकांनी अगदी लहानपणापासून सर्व काही लिहून ठेवलं होतं. Excel sheet मध्ये मंगेशने हा सगळा डेटा कशाप्रकारे मांडावा, कोणत्या कॉलम मध्ये काय काय भरायचं याची पूर्वतयारी करून ठेवलेली. आता एखादा नवीन मुलगा शोधला की डेटाबेस एन्ट्री करायला सुरुवात करायची होती.

सर्वजण खुश होते, प्रोजेक्ट बऱ्यापैकी मार्गी लागलेला. मंगेशने आणलेल्या डायऱ्यांचा फायदा चांगलाच झालेला. मंगेशच्या आजोबांसकट त्याच्या वडिलांनाही डायरी लिहून ठेवलेली.

“शेजारची मालती आज माझ्याकडे बघून हसली, मी रोज तिला शाळेत जाताना बघतो..”

मंगेशच्या वडिलांनी ते लहान असताना लिहिलेलं हे वाचून मंगेशला जाम हसू आलं. घरी जाऊन वडिलांची चांगलीच फिरकी घ्यावी असं त्याला वाटलं, पण वडिलांना समजू द्यायचं नव्हतं की त्यांची डायरी आम्ही वाचतोय, म्हणून त्याने हा बेत रद्द केला.

सारंग कामात असताना अचानक फोन खानानला,

“हॅलो, सारंग..ईशानीचे वडील गेलेत. ताबडतोब इशानीला घेऊन ये..”

सारंगला धक्काच बसला, त्याने तडक इशानीला फोन केला. पण ती उचलत नव्हती, अखेर त्याने मेसेज टाकला..”ईशानी तुझे बाबा गेलेत, आपल्याला लवकर निघावं लागेल..”

ईशानी ते वाचून पुरती कोसळली, अनघाने कसबसं तिला सावरत बाहेर नेलं, सारंगची गाडी बाहेरच उभी होती..
