चिंतनच्या ऍडमिशन साठी मेघा आणि दीपेश खूप वेळपर्यंत रांगेत उभे होते. सर्व महत्वाची कागदपत्रे एका हातात घेऊन मेघाची नजर पाय उंचावून रांग किती सरकतेय हे पाहण्यात होती…
“तुला म्हणतोय मी आपल्याच घराजवळच्या शाळेत टाकू त्याला, तिथे अशी रांगेत उभी राहायची वेळही आली नसती….”
“एका दिवसाच्या त्रासासाठी चिंतन च्या शिक्षणासाठी compromise करायचं? वा…”
मेघा ने ठरवलं होतं, काहीही झालं तरी चिंतन ला नावाजलेल्या शाळेतच टाकायचं..त्यासाठी तिनेच पै पै जमा करून मोठी रक्कम गाठीशी बांधली होती, पैसे कमी पडताय हे दिसताच तिचा एक दागिना मोडून रक्कम उभी केली..दीपेश पगाराची जी रक्कम द्यायचा त्यातूनच मेघा ने बचत केली होती… कारण ऍडमिशन साठी जर दीपेश कडे पैसे मागितले असते तर त्याच्या जीवावर येऊन त्याने जवळच्याच शाळेत चिंतन ला टाकायला भाग पाडलं असतं हे मेघा जाणून होती..
दीपेश हा आत्मकेंद्री व्यक्ती होता..नावाला संसार त्याचा होता पण सगळं मेघाच सावरत होती…चिंतन चा जन्म झाल्यावरही त्याने अर्ध्या तासाहून जास्त चिंतन ला सांभाळलं नव्हतं..घरातल्या बारीकसारीक गोष्टींकडे लक्ष कधीही दिलं नाही..दीपेश कायम आपलं ऑफिस, ऑफिसमधली मित्र, पार्ट्या, मोबाईल आणि झोप यातच व्यस्त असे…मेघा ने त्याच्या या वागण्याला कंटाळून अखेर आपल्यालाच सर्व करावं लागणार आहे अशी मनाची समजूत घालून घेतली..
चिंतन च्या भविष्यासाठी मेघा सगळं काही करत होती, चिंतन च्या शाळेची माहिती काढण्यापासून ते ऍडमिशन प्रोसेस तिने एकटीने जाणून घेतली होती…दीपेश ला मात्र असं काही करायचं झालं की जीवावर येई, पटकन कुठेतरी सोय लावून मोकळं व्हायचं असा त्याचा स्वभाव..म्हणूनच तो चिंतन ला जवळच्या शाळेत टाकून या जबाबदारी तुन पटकन मोकळं व्हायचं असं ठरवत होता पण यावेळी मात्र मेघाने त्याला चांगलंच खडसावलं आणि म्हणून तो नाईलाजाने तयार झाला..
लाईनमध्ये उभं असताना खूपदा त्याने मेघाला टोकलं, मधेच त्याला राग येई आणि तो मेघाला बोलायला लागे… मेघाने शांततेत सगळं ऐकलं, कारण मुलाच्या भविष्याचा प्रश्न होता..
अखेर त्यांचा नंबर आला, केबिन बाहेर ती दोघे उभी होती आणि आत काय चाललंय हे बघत होती. तिथे एक स्त्री आपल्या मुलाला घेऊन आलेली..
“हा फॉर्म भरा…”
“सिंगल मदर??”
“होय…मी सिंगल parent आहे..याचे वडील आम्हाला सोडून दुसरीकडे गेलेत, मीच याची आई आणि वडील दोघे…”
असं म्हणत त्या स्त्री ला रडू आलं…
“सॉरी…मॅम प्लिज शांत व्हा…तुमच्या procedure ला वेळ लागेल…तुम्ही इथे खर्चीवर बसा”
त्या स्त्री ला केबिन मधेच एका बाजूच्या खुर्चीवर बसवलं गेलं…दीपेशची त्याच्या ऑफिस मधल्या मित्रांशी whatsap ग्रुप वर चर्चा रंगत आलेली, दीपेश त्यातच व्यस्त होता…
“नेक्स्ट??”
मेघा घाईघाईत आत गेली, दीपेश अजूनही chat वरच गुंग…मेघाने आवाज देऊन त्याला मध्ये बोलावलं..
“हा फॉर्म घ्या, इथे हे भरा..”
मॅडम ने दीपेश पुढे फॉर्म धरला..दीपेश ने तो मेघा कडे सरकवला…मेघा फॉर्म भरत असताना मॅडम ने दीपेश ला काही प्रश्न विचारले…
“चिंतन प्ले ग्रुप मध्ये कसा होता? त्याला काही इतर activities मध्येही आवड आहे का?”
दीपेश च्या चेहऱ्यावर बारा वाजले, तो प्रत्येक प्रश्नाला मेघा कडे पाहू लागला….मेघाने एकेक प्रश्नाची उत्तरं दिली…
“मॅडम पालकांची सही कुठे करायची?”
“आण इकडे मी करतो…”
पालक म्हणून सही करायची वेळ आली तेव्हा दीपेश ने पटकन फॉर्म आपल्या पुढे ओढला…
“थांबा…”
मॅडम ओरडल्या..
“तूम्ही कशाला सही करताय? या सुद्धा सिंगल parent आहेत ना?”
“काहीही काय बोलताय? मी वडील आहे चिंतन चा…आम्ही दोघांनी वाढवलं आहे त्याला..”
“पण मला तर वेगळंच दिसलं…आल्यापासून बघतेय, चिंतन चं सगळं त्याची आईच करतेय, त्याच्या ऍडमिशन ची काळजी त्यांच्याच डोळ्यात दिसतेय…तुम्ही मात्र मोबाईल वर बिझी आहात…बरं, मला सांगा चिंतन च्या प्ले ग्रुप च्या टीचर चं नाव काय होतं? “
दीपेश ला उत्तर येत नव्हतं..
“बरं हे सांगा की दीपेश च्या ऍडमिशन साठी आत्ता काय काय documents सोबत आणली आहेत?”
