 एके दिवशी तिच्या माहेराहून फोन आला,

जावईबापू आणि तू जेवायला ये,

त्याची इच्छा नव्हती,

पण जावं लागलं..

अधिक मास होता,

जावयाला काहीतरी द्यावं म्हणून आई वडिलांनी सोन्याच्या वस्तू बनवून आणलेल्या,

दोघेही घरी गेले,

पाहुणचार झाला,

जेवणं झाली,

पण पेरलेल्या विषाचे त्याचे मन प्रत्येक गोष्टीत कुरापत शोधत होती..

जेवणात, बसवलेल्या खुर्चीत..अगदी पाणी प्यायला दिलेल्या पेल्यातही..

जावयाला सोन्याची चेन आणि तिला अंगठी देऊ केली गेली,

नको नको म्हणत त्याने घेतलं,

गप्पा चालू होत्या,

वडिलांना फोन आला अन ते बाहेर गेले,

जावयाला अचानक लक्षात आलं,

चावी गाडीलाच राहिली,

तोही बाहेर आला,

पण वडिलांचे फोनवर बोलतानाचे शब्द कानी पडले,

“अहो साहेब देतो मी पैसे…हवं तर माझी गाडी गहाण ठेवतो, मग तर झालं? साहेब आधीचेही देतो परत माझ्यावर विश्वास ठेवा.. यावेळी कांद्याचं पीक घेतलं होतं, पण भाव घसरला आणि सगळं वाया गेलं..त्यात हा अवकाळी पाऊस..”

तिच्या वडिलांना इतकं लाचार झालेलं त्याने कधीच पाहिलं नव्हतं..

त्याला त्याच्या बहिणीच्या लग्नातले दिवस आठवले,

त्याचे वडील साधे कामगार,

जमवलेली पुंजी मुलीच्या लग्नात खर्ची घातली,

पण मुलाकडचे चांगले होते,

लग्नाचा अर्धा खर्च ते करणार होते,

बदल्यात काहीही मागितलं नाही,

त्याची बहीण सुखात नांदत होती,

त्यामुळे त्याच्या वडिलांच्या चेहऱ्यावर आयुष्यभर एक समाधान पुरलं..

त्या मुलाकडच्यांनी खर्च केला नसता आणि वर मोठमोठ्या अपेक्षा ठेवल्या असत्या तर?

वडील आजही कर्ज फेडत बसले असते,

आणि आपण काय वागतोय?

काय बोलतोय?

कोणत्या गोष्टींना नावं ठेवतोय?

त्याच्या डोळ्यात चटकन पाणी आलं..

त्याला समजलं,

प्रत्येक बाप सारखाच असतो,

आपापल्या परीने उत्तम देण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो,

बहिणीच्या सासरच्यांमुळे आपला बाप समाधानी आयुष्य जगला..

आणि एक मी,

माझ्यामुळे या बापाला वेदना पोचताय,

त्याला चूक कळली,

त्याने तात्काळ दिलेलं सोनं परत केलं,

आणि फक्त आशीर्वाद मागितला,

बाप भरून पावला..

त्याच्या बहिणीच्या वाट्याला आलेली चांगली माणसं आता बायकोच्याही वाट्याला आली..

तिचा बाप समाधान पावला,

आणि त्यांच्या डोळ्यात त्याला स्वतःचा बाप दिसला..
