 तिने क्षणभर नीट पाहिलं आणि विचारलं,

याचं दप्तर कुठे आहे?

सगळे इकडेतिकडे बघू लागले,

आईचं लक्ष गेलं,

त्याचा मित्र पक्या त्याच्या दप्तरावर बसला होता,

तो पटकन उठला आणि दप्तर गणूकडे दिलं,

गणू एकदम शांत,

चिडीचूप..

बाईंनी डोक्यावर हात मारून घेतला,

“अरे मग तोंडाने सांगायचं तरी..”

“बाई तो बोलत नाही जास्त..आता चालुद्या तुमचं”

आई निघून गेली,

गाण्याला काय हवं काय नको,

त्याच्या मनात काय आहे,

हे सगळं आई त्याच्या डोळ्यातुन ओळखायची..

गणू शिकला, मोठा झाला..

शहरात बऱ्यापैकी नोकरी लागली,

आता लग्न करायची वेळ आली,

गण्या लाजाळू,

मुलगी पाहिली की तोच लाजे,

हो नाही अन नाहीही नाही..

त्याच्या मनात काय आहे सांगत नसे,

आईने ठरवलं, आपणच ठरवायचं,

मुली पाहायला गेल्यावर त्याचे हावभाव ती बघे,

मुलगी पसंत आहे की नाही त्याच्या डोळ्यातून ओळखे,

शेवटी रमाला पाहायला गेल्यावर त्याच्या डोळ्यातली चमक आईला दिसली,

रमा फायनल झाली,

लग्न झालं,

नवरा बायको शहरात आले,

आई गावीच,

आईने रमाला सांगितलं,

पोरगं शांत आहे, मनात काय आहे हे सांगत नाही,आपणच ओळखायचं..

शांत नवरा, त्यात काय हवं नको सांगत नाही..
