 गणूची आई धावत धावत शाळेत आली,

बालवाडीचा वर्ग,

खेडेगाव, घराच्या जवळच शाळा भरे,

घराचं दार उघडलं की उजव्या बाजूला शाळा,

शाळेत काय चाललंय सगळं ऐकू येई..

गणू नुकताच शाळेत जायला लागला होता,

दोन तीन दिवस चांगला रुळला,

चौथ्या दिवशी अचानक शाळेत रडू लागला,

बाईंनी शांत करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला, 

रडण्याचं कारण विचारलं,

पण तो काही बोलेच ना,

शेवटी बाईंनी मालतीला- त्याच्याच वर्गातल्या आणि घराशेजारी राहणाऱ्या मुलीला त्याच्या घरी निरोप द्यायला लावला,

आईला बोलावण्यात आलं,

आई शेतात काम करत होती,

मालती ओरडली,

“ए सकूमावशी, गण्या रडून ऱ्हायला, ये लवकर..”

हे ऐकलं तसं गण्याची आई चार पावलं टाकत वर्गाकडे गेली,

बाई म्हणाल्या,

“हा आजारी असावा बहुतेक, घेऊन जा याला”

आईने गणूकडे नीट पाहिलं,

त्याच्या रडण्याचे सगळे प्रकार तिला माहीत होते,

हे रडणं आजारी असण्याचं नव्हतं,
