शबाना ने सर्व हत्यारं चाचपुन पहिली…मोठ्या बंदुकीत गोळी ठासली आणि तावातावाने नासिर वर रोखली…सर्वजण मागे झाले… नासिर हात वर करून उभा होता… प्रचंड घाबरला… काही वेळ शांतता पसरली… शबाना ने बंदूक खाली घेतली आणि म्हणाली..
“अल्लाह…दम आहे हत्यारात…”
सर्वांचा जीव भांड्यात पडला…शबाना कधी कधी असंच विचित्र वागायची…टोळीतल्या सहकाऱ्यांवर अचानक भडकायची…त्यांचा अंगावर धावून जायची… टोळीतील सर्वजण अब्दुल साठी गप बसले होते…अब्दुल चे दोन भाऊ…कायम शबाना च्या सोबत असत…तिचे अंगरक्षक बनून….आणि अब्दुल भाईचा शब्द शेवटपर्यंत पाळायचा म्हणून शबाना ला ते पाठीशी घालत होते…
अब्दूलचे दोन्ही भाऊ…यासिन आणि अहमद…अब्दुलच्या टोळी बनवण्याच्या प्रक्रियेत त्यांचा मोठा सहभाग होता…यासिन भावाच्या शब्दाबाहेर नव्हता…पण अहमद ला वाटायचं की अब्दुल भाई नंतर संघटनेचं काम आपल्याकडे यावं…पण तसं झालंच नाही..शबाना ने सर्व आपल्या हातात घेतलं… इच्छा नसून अहमद अब्दुल भाई साठी सगळं करत होता…यासिन ला नेता बनण्याची ईच्छा नव्हती… त्याचं एकच ध्येय…”जिहाद…”
रात्रीच्या वेळी सर्वजण आपापल्या वस्तीत गेले…एका सुनसान जागेवर शबाना चं घर होतं… घर कसलं..अड्डाच तो…तिथे यासिन, अहमद, शबाना आणि घरातलं बघायला एक वृद्ध स्त्री रहात होती…अबिदाजान म्हणत तिला…शबाना ला ती एकच व्यक्ती जवळची होती…शबाना ची ती मुलीसारखी काळजी घेत असे…
अबिदाजान ची मुलंसुद्धा या जिहाद संघटनेत काम करत असताना एका हल्ल्यात मारली गेली…नवरा कधीच सोडून गेलेला…ती एकटी पडली होती, तेव्हा शबाना ने तिला आधार देऊन घरात आणलं होतं…
शबाना च्या खोलीत तिच्याशिवाय कुणीही घुसणार नाही अशी घरात सक्त ताकीद होती…अब्दुल आणि तिच्या आठवणींना तिने जपून ठेवलंय सांगत ती कुणालाही येऊ देत नसायची…
पण नासिर आता इरेला पेटला होता…शबाना ची सत्यता त्याला जाणून घ्यायची होती…त्या रात्री संघटनेची मिटिंग बाहेरच्या आवारात सुरू असताना घरात कुणीही नव्हतं… अबिदाजान स्वयंपाक करत होती…नासिर ने हीच संधी साधून घरात प्रवेश केला… शबाना च्या खोलीला बाहेरून कडी होती..नासिर ने जसा कडी या हात लावला तसा घरात सायरन सुरू झाला आणि सर्वजण घाबरले…शबाना ला समजलं, की कुणीतरी तिच्या खोलीत जाऊ पाहत आहे…कुणी ना कुणी हे उपद्व्याप करणारच हे तिला माहीत होतं..म्हणून तिने आधीच सेन्सर चा वापर करून एक सायरन तयार करून घेतला होता…ज्यात फक्त तिच्या हाताचे फिंगरप्रिंटस allow असतील…

हल्ल्याची तयारी झाली…सर्वजण आपापल्या वस्तीत गेले..शबाना घरी आली..पाठोपाठ यासिन आणि अहमद आले…तिने नमाज अदा केला..आणि आपल्या खोलीत जाऊन दाराची कडी लावून घेतली…
