अखेर ती बस पकडून मंदिरात पोचली, सासूबाई तिचीच वाट बघत होत्या..

“घरी कढवलेलं…”

“अगं दिव्यासाठी बाजारातून स्वस्तातलं तूप आणायचं… आणि ह्या बांगड्या??”

“माझ्याच…नवीन घेतलेल्या, पण वापरल्या नाहीत..”

सासूबाई डोक्याला हात लावतात…देवीला हात जोडतात, “देवी माते…सुनबाई अजून नादान आहे, तिची चुकी माफ कर, आणि ओटीचा स्वीकार करून आम्हाला पाव बाई..”

गुरुजी सगळं बघत असतात, हे सगळं बघून म्हणतात..

“होय…तुम्ही पूजा करताना स्वस्त, टाकून दिलेल्या, आपल्याला उपयोगात नसलेल्या वस्तू देवाला वाहतात, पण तुमच्या सुनेने घरी काढवलेल्या तुपाचा दिवा लावला, तिचीच एक साडी देवीला दिली, स्वतःच्याच बांगड्या देवीला दिल्या…देवीला तुम्ही जे अर्पण करता त्याच्यामागचा भाव हवा असतो..तुमचा मोह तूप, साडी, बांगड्यांत आहे…पण तुमच्या सुनेने कसलाही मोह न धरता स्वतःच्याच वापरातील एक भाग काढून देवीला दिला…हेच महत्वाचं असत…एखादा लहान मुलगा आपला आवडता खाऊ खात असताना एक घास हळूच आईला भरवतो तेव्हा आईला किती कौतुक वाटतं, तेव्हा उष्टा घास भरवला म्हणून आई रागवत नाही…तसंच आहे हे…आणि देवीला मिळालेल्या चांगल्या वस्तू मी अनाथाश्रम मध्ये देऊन येतो, तुमच्या सुनेशी तिथेच भेट झालेली, ती दर महिन्याला तिथे देणगी देऊन येते…”

सासूबाईंना खूप वाईट वाटलं, देवाधर्माचं करत नाही म्हणून आपण सूनबाईला किती बोललो, पण खऱ्या अर्थाने तीच खरी भक्ती करतेय..आपण फक्त स्वार्थीपणाने मोहात अडकून यांत्रिक पूजा करतोय याची त्यांना जाणीव झाली…
