तर शांतीने अश्या प्रकारे आपल्या खोडकरपणाला वाट करून दिली होती..बरं स्वतःच्या लग्नात तरी शांत बसावं ना…पण नाही..
कार्यालयात वऱ्हाडी जमलेली, नातेवाईकांना आपापल्या खोल्या नेमून देण्यात आलेल्या… हळदीच्या सर्वजण नाचगाण्यासाठी बाहेर आलेले…शांती हळूच त्या खोल्यांमध्ये गेली, आणि तिच्यात पुन्हा एकदा खोड्या करायचं भूत घुसलं…सर्वांच्या बॅग मधील कपडे तिने आदलाबदल करून दिले.
पाहुणे जेव्हा आपापल्या खोलीत आले तेव्हा..”चोर..चोर…माझे कपडे…माझे दागिने..” म्हणून एकच कल्लोळ माजला….
शांती च्या आईने शांती ला बाजूला बोलावून समजवलं..
“बाळा..आता तुझं लग्न होणार आहे, तेव्हा असं काही चालणार नाही..तू शहाणी ना?”
शांती नावाचं बाळ कधी शहाणं झालंच नाही, काही विचित्र मुलं सुधारावी म्हणून त्यांची लग्न लावून दिली जातात…इथे उलटा प्रकार होता….शांती सुधारावी म्हणून तिचं लग्न लावलं जात होतं…
लग्नात तिच्या होणाऱ्या नवऱ्याच्या सूट मध्ये खाजेची पावडर कोणी टाकली याचं उत्तर नवरदेव अजून शोधत आहे..
तिच्या मैत्रिणी तिला चिडवत होत्या…
“आता शांती सासरी जाणार, तिथे तुझं कुणीही नसेल, काय होईल तुझं??”
“मग मी नवरदेवलाच माझ्या घरी घेऊन येते की..”
हे ऐकून मैत्रिणी हसायला लागतात…पण त्यांना काय माहीत, शांती serious होती ते….

ज्या स्पीड ने गाड्यांचे ड्राइवर गाडीकडे गेले त्याच स्पीड ने परत आले…

“जाऊद्या, पवारांची गाडी घ्या..”

“हिरे भाऊ…तुमची?”

अखेर नाईलाजाने सर्वांना जवळच असलेल्या नवरीच्या घरी मुक्काम करावा लागला…
शांती तिच्या मैत्रिणींकडे बघून छद्मी हसत होती…
सासरी आल्यानंतर सासूबाईंनी आदेश सोडायला सुरवात केली,
“सुनबाई…चहा करायचा आहे..”
“करा की मग…मी कुठे चहाच्या पातेल्यात जाऊन बसलीये..”
सासूबाई जवळ जवळ उडाल्याच…त्यांनी शांतीच्या घरी फोन लावला, पण त्या नंबरची सेवा आता अस्तित्वात नव्हती…कारण त्यांची सेवा आता यांच्या पदरात पडली होती…
आता जे काही होतं ते शांतीच्या सासरच्यांना भोगायचं होतं..
शांती ज्या ठिकाणी रहात होती तो एरिया मोठा गजबजलेला होता. रहदारीचा रस्ता, पोलीस स्टेशन, बस स्टॅण्ड सगळं अगदी जवळ होतं. सासर माहेरपासून बरंच लांब असल्याने शांतीला इकडच्या वातावरणाशी…. सॉरी सॉरी… इकडच्या वातावरणाला शांतीशी जुळवून घ्यायला वेळ लागणार होता…
कितीही झालं तरी स्त्रीची जात, संसार करायला आपसूक शिकली. सोबत टोमणे मारणारी सासू आणि प्रेमळ नवरा होताच. शांती ला सासरी शेजारी एक मैत्रीण मिळाली होती…मानसी नाव तिचं. सतत दुःखी, सतत नकारात्मक भाव, सतत रडगाणे सुरू…शांती ने तिला आयुष्याकडे बघण्याचा सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोन देण्याचं ठरवलं.
एक दिवस अचानक पाऊस आला आणि दोन्ही शेजारीनि टेरेस वर कपडे काढायला गेल्या.
मानसीचं रडगाणं सुरू झालं, लग्नाआधी मला इतकं आवडायचं पावसात भिजायला, काय सांगू…. पण आता मेलं कोण भिजू देतंय…
“तुला भिजायचंय पावसात??”
“आत्ता आवाज देतील बघ, चहा ठेव म्हणून..”
“सुनबाई चहा ठेव..”
“पाहिलंस??”
“चल….तुझ्या घरी..”
शांती तिचा हात पकडून तिला तिच्या घरी नेते…
