आशिष चं वागणं एकदम बदलून जातं.. कालपर्यंत जो प्रेमळ, काळजी करणारा नवरा होता तो आज एकदम बदलून गेला..स्वराकडे सपशेल दुर्लक्ष करू लागला आणि कायम त्याच्याच विचारात गढून राहू लागला.
एके दिवशी आशिष सोफ्यावर tv समोर बसला होता…छोटी खुशी त्याचाजवळ जाऊन बसली, पप्पांचं लक्ष नाही पाहून त्यांचा मांडीवर जाऊन बसली.
“बाजूला बस गं… मोकळं सोड मला जरा..”
आशिषने चिडून तिला बाजूला केले…आशिष पहिल्यांदा असा वागला होता, खुशी हिरमुसून निघून जाते. स्वरा हे सगळं बघते आणि तिचा संयम सुटतो. स्वतःच्या बाबतीत हा असं वागतो ते सहन केलं मी पण खुशी च्या बाबतीत असं झालेलं तिला सहन झालं नाही…

स्वरा चा ताबा सुटलेला असतो, सासू सासरे देवळात गेलेले असल्याने निदान त्यांना याची खबर लागली नाही. स्वरा च्या या बोलण्याने आशिष भानावर आला, आपण असं का वागतोय हे त्याचं त्यालाच कळलं नाही…तो काहीही न बोलता मौन बाळगून होता..स्वरा चिडली, शांत झाली, काही वेळ रडली…पण आशिष फक्त मौन बाळगून होता.एरवी स्वरा च्या डोळ्यात एकही अश्रू न येऊ देणारा आशिष आज तिला खुशाल रडू देत होता.
स्वरा ला एकावर एक असे धक्के मिळत होते…अखेर तिने डोळे पुसले…आशिष जवळ गेली, त्याच्या गालावर हात ठेवले…आणि जिवाच्या आकांताने आशिष ला विचारलं…
“आशिष काय चुकलं माझं सांग..कुठे कमी पडले मी बायको म्हणून? काय कमी राहिली माझ्या प्रेमात? सांग…”

“मी स्पष्टच सांगतो…आम्ही लहानपणापासून एकत्र…मैत्रीतून प्रेम कधी झालं हे समजलच नाही…ती दुसऱ्या देशात निघून गेली आणि आत्ता परत आली..”
“तुम्ही प्रेमाची कबुली दिली नव्हती?”
“मी प्रयत्न केला होता, पण हिम्मत झालीच नाही माझी…आणि ती तिकडे गेल्यावर मला वाटलं की तिच्या मनात माझ्याबद्दल काहीही नसेल, नाहीतर तिने माझ्याशी संपर्क केला असता..”.
“मग आज असं का वाटलं तुम्हाला की तिचं तुमच्यावर प्रेम होतं?”
“तू पाहिलस ना? ती घरी आली होती, आणि माझं लग्न झालंय हे समजल्यावर तडकाफडकी निघून गेली..”
“बरं… पण आता आपलं लग्न झालंय, आपल्याला एक मुलगी आहे…अश्या परिस्थितीत काय करणार तुम्ही? “
आशिष रागाने तिला बोलतो…

स्वरा तिच्या खोलीत येते..खुशी ला कडेवर घेते आणि तिला कुरवाळते..तिचे मुके घेते..आरशात स्वतःला बघून ती खंबीर होते आणि आता यापुढे मिळमिळीत न राहता खंबीरपणे सामोरं जायचं असं ठरवते…
सासू सासरे देवळातून येतात, आल्या आल्या स्वरा त्यांना सांगते..
“आई मी काय म्हणते, ईशिका आलीच आहे तर तिला जेवायला बोलवूया संध्याकाळी….मी आज छान बेत करते…”
