“सोपं आहे का पिंकीला सांभाळून ऑफीसला येणं? काहीही काय बोलताय तुम्ही?”
“पिंकी 2 वर्षाची झाली आता, खेळते ती एकटी..आणि मी कुठे तिला घरी टाकून जायचं म्हणतोय, ऑफिस आपलं आहे, जागा आपली आहे..मालक आहोत आपण..”
सुयोगची स्वतःची सॉफ्टवेअर फर्म होती, स्वतःचा व्यवसाय असल्याने त्याला बऱ्याच चढ उतारांचा सामना करावा लागत होता, पण जेव्हापासून नलिनी ऑफिसमध्ये आली तेव्हापासून त्याच्या व्यवसायाची भरभराट झाली. नालीनीचं बोलणं, वागणं सुयोगला आवडायचं, तिलाच मागणी घालून त्याने तिला कायमचं आपलंसं केलं.
दोघांनी मिळून व्यवसायाची भरभराट केली, वर्षभरात गोड बातमी कळाली आणि घरात छानशी परी जन्मली. नलिनी पिंकीच्या मागे आता पूर्णवेळ असायची, त्यामुळे ऑफिसमध्ये तिचं काम करण्यासाठी दुसऱ्या एकीला नियुक्त केलं होतं. पण नलिनी सारखं काम तिला काही जमेना. त्यामुळे कधी एकदा नलिनी पुन्हा काम सांभाळते असं सुयोगला झालं.
पण नलिनी तयार नव्हती, तिला आता पिंकीला पूर्ण वेळ द्यायचा होता. सुयोग अन तिचा वाद होऊ लागला..
“सुयोग अरे नाही शक्य मला..”
“पिंकीचं कारण देऊच नकोस. तिला सोबत नेत जाऊ ना..खेळेल ती तिकडे. दुपारी झोपवत जा. सगळं शक्य होईल..”
“अरे पिंकी आता चालायला लागलीये. कुठेही धडपडत असते, तिच्या मागेच रहावं लागतं. वस्तू ओढते, पाडते.. काहीही उद्योग करते. “
“उगाच बाऊ करतेय तू..”
नलिनी विचार करते, सुयोगला म्हणते.
“तुला मी एक टास्क देते, तो पूर्ण केला की तुझं ऐकेन मी..”
“काय टास्क आहे?”
“तुझ्या हातात एक चॉकलेट देईन मी..”
“हा काय टास्क आहे?”
“पुढे तर ऐक.. ते चॉकलेट दिवसभर हातात ठेवायचं, एक मिनिटही खाली ठेवायचं नाही, त्याला वितळू द्यायचं नाही.. आकार बदलू द्यायचा नाही..”
“हे काय भलतंच..”
“बघा, करणार असाल तर मी ऑफिसचा विचार करू शकते..”
“ठीक आहे..त्यात काय इतकं..”
नलिनी एक चॉकलेट चा तुकडा त्याला हातात देते. सुयोग ते हातात घेतो आणि मुठीत आवळून धरतो. सुट्टीचा दिवस असतो, त्यामुळे नलिनी सुयोगवर पूर्ण दिवस लक्ष ठेवते. घरात AC असल्याने वातावरण थंड असतं, पण लाईट जाते आणि उकडायला लागतं. सुयोगच्या हातातलं चॉकलेट वितळू लागतं..
“अरे अरे. हात चिकट होताय..”
“त्याला पुन्हा पूर्ववत करा…फ्रिजरमध्ये हात ठेवून बसा 10 मिनिटं.. चॉकलेट कडक झालं की पुन्हा बाहेर काढा”
सुयोग तसं करतो, हात बर्फासारखा दगड होतो..पण चॉकलेट कडक होतं, सुयोग हात बाहेर काढतो आणि कामाला लागतो. चॉकलेट मुठीत बंद असल्याने कामं करायला बऱ्याच अडचणी येत होत्या, हातातल्या चॉकलेट मुळे त्याला सारखं उठावं लागे..3-4 वेळा फ्रीज मध्ये हात ठेवून होतो.. लाईट आली तसं सुयोगला बरं वाटतं. मूठ आवळलेली असल्याने हाताला खाज सुटते, पण मूठ सोडताही येईना. एका हातात चॉकलेट असल्याने त्याला दुसऱ्या एकट्या हातानेच कामं करावी लागली. सुयोग वैतागायचा, कंटाळायचा.. पण पर्याय नव्हता. दुपारी तो जरा पडला तेव्हा चॉकलेट हातातच होतं, त्याला झोप लागली अन चॉकलेट खाली पडलं. तो उठला तसं नलिनी त्याला म्हणाली..
“टास्क हरलात तुम्ही..”
सुयोग बघतो, चॉकलेट हातातून खाली पडलं होतं, AC बंद असल्याने वितळूनही गेलेलं..सुयोग डोक्याला हात लावतो.
“ते ठीक आहे पण याचा आणि तुझ्या ऑफीसला येण्याचा काय संबंध? हे असं कसं भलतंच टास्क?”
“तुम्हाला समजावं की पिंकीला सांभाळून काम करणं शक्य नाही म्हणून हा टास्क..”
“काहीही हा..”
“काहीही नाही, चॉकलेट हातात ठेवणं, वितळू न देणं, आकार बदलू न देणं.. एकंदरीत त्याला जपणं ही तुमची जबाबदारी होती, तेही 24 तास..ते करत असताना तुम्हाला दैनंदिन कामं जमली नाही, अडचणी आल्या, अर्ध्या दिवसातच तुम्ही टास्क हरलात.. पिंकीला सांभाळणं म्हणजे फक्त तिच्याकडे लक्ष ठेवणं इतकं नसतं..सकाळी उठल्यापासून तिचं खाणं, पिणं, अंघोळ करणं, जेऊ घालणं, झोपवणं हे सगळं असतं. त्यात तिचे प्रत्येक गोष्टीत हजार नखरे. कधी आजारी असली तर मला सोडत नाही, तिला घेऊन ऑफिसचं काम शक्य झालं तरी ते मनापासून नाही होणार, त्यामुळे मला थोडा वेळ दे..पिंकी उद्या स्वावलंबी होईल, पण तिचं बालपण आपण पुन्हा अनुभवू शकत नाही. “
“पटलं मला तुझं..एक चॉकलेट सांभाळून काम करणं इतकं अवघड होतं, पिंकीला घेऊन सगळं करणं खरंच सोपं नाहीये. पण तू उदाहरण म्हणून बरोबर वस्तू दिलीस हा..चॉकलेट, सांभाळणं अवघड असलं तरी खूपच गोड आहे, चॉकलेट अन पिंकीही..”
