सिस्टर अनु, गिरीजा, दादा, लता, पंडितजी आणि गीतेश…
हे सर्वजण आता हॉस्पिटलमध्ये डॉक्टर शलाका ला भेटायला येतात…
डॉक्टर शलाका त्यांच्या केबिन मध्ये मुलीचा फोटो बघत बसलेल्या असतात…हे सर्वजण समोर येताच त्या डोळे पुसतात…आणि म्हणतात..
“मला माहित होतं, कधी ना कधी हा दिवस येईल म्हणून…”
“डॉक्टर, आमचं मूल आम्हाला परत द्या..” पंडितजी म्हणतात..
“अहो आता ते मूल राहिलेलं नाही, 18 वर्षाचा तरुण आहे तो..”
“हे आम्हाला आत्ता समजलं म्हणून, आम्ही कायदेशीर कारवाई करू तुमच्यावर..”
हे वातावरण पाहून अनु घाबरते…गिरीजाला समजत नाही काय चाललंय ते…अनु म्हणते..
“माझ्या पोटात वाढवलं आहे ते मूल… त्यावर माझा हक्क आहे..”
“तू फक्त सरोगेट होतीस, तो अंश आमचा आहे…” लताही भांडायला लागते…
“इतके दिवस नाकारलं आणि आत्ता अधिकार दाखवतेय??” पंडितजी चिडले..
वातावरण बिघडले…केबिन मधून भांडायचा आवाज येऊ लागला…
“शांत…शांत बसा…हा काही पोरखेळ नाही…माझा बाहुला मला परत द्या म्हणायला….आधी ऐकून घ्या नक्की काय झालंय ते..”
डॉक्टर शलाका त्या “24” तासांची कहाणी सांगायला सुरुवात करतात…
“सिस्टर अनु…माझ्याकडे 10 वर्षांपासून कामाला होत्या..कित्येकांच्या प्रसूती केल्या आहेत…पण स्वतः मात्र मातृत्वापासून वंचित राहिल्या…10 वर्ष त्यांनी माझ्या चिडण्याला, संतापाला न जुमानता माझ्यामागे आई व्हायला उपचार करण्यासाठी सतत तगादा लावला…नंतर लक्षात आलं की यांचं गर्भाशय निकामी आहे….काही केल्या सिस्टर अनुचा आई व्हायचा काहीही चान्स नव्हता…
मग एके दिवशी गिरीजा हॉस्पिटलमध्ये आली…तिला गर्भाशय काढून टाकायचं होतं…सिस्टर अनु ची बहीण, म्हणजे गिरीजा..सिस्टर अनु ला हे समजताच तिने गिरीजा चं गर्भाशय तिच्या शरीरात रोपण करण्यासाठी विचारलं…असं कुणाच्या परवानगी शिवाय कुणाचं अवयव दुसऱ्याला देता येत नाही…पण असही ते वायाच जाणार होतं, म्हणून आम्ही ते स्वीकारलं…या शस्त्रक्रिया अत्यंत अवघड असतात…पण सिस्टर अनु ने रिस्क घेतली..ते यशस्वी झालं…पण तरी मूल होण्यासाठी ivf ची मदत घ्यावी लागली..त्यातही समजलं की तिच्या पार्टनर चे बीज अशक्त आहे…तिला गर्भधारणा होऊ शकत नाही…आणि योगायोग म्हणजे त्याच वेळी लता आणि तिच्या मिस्टरांनी त्यांचा fertilize झालेला गर्भ नाकारला…आम्हाला तो डीस्पोज करायला लावला….अनुला हे समजताच नाकारला गेलेला गर्भ तिने तिच्या पोटात वाढवायचा ठरवला.. दुसऱ्याचं मूल स्वतःचं म्हणून वाढवायचं ठरवलं…आणि फक्त 7% चान्स असूनही तिची प्रसूती यशस्वी झाली…प्रत्येक प्रसूतीच्या वेळी मला माझ्या मुलीचा शेवटचा रडण्याचा आवाज कानात घुमायचा.. पण अनुच्या प्रसूतीच्या वेळी पहिल्यांदा मला माझ्या मुलीच्या हसण्याचा आवाज आलेला…जणू मी कुणालातरी मातृत्व बहाल केल्याचं समाधान तिने व्यक्त केलं होतं..आणि आज इतक्या वर्षांनी तुम्ही आलात…काय ईच्छा आहे तुमची आता??”
गिरीजा संतापाने लालबुंद होते..
“मॅडम, तुम्ही मला न विचारता माझं अवयव दुसऱ्याला दिलं… हा गुन्हा आहे…मी पोलीस कंप्लॅन्ट करेन..”
“करू शकता तुम्ही…नाकारली गेलेली गोष्ट तुम्हाला परत हवी असेल तर त्यात माझा दोष नाही..”
“गर्भाशय माझं होतं…अनु?? तू इतकी मोठी गोष्ट माझ्यापासून लपवली? स्वरांग माझ्या गर्भाशयात वाढलाय, तो मला हवा आहे…माझं मूल म्हणून….मला फक्त स्वरांग दे…मी कुणालाही काहीही बोलणार नाही, पोलिसातही जाणार नाही..”

हे सगळं होत असतांना अनुचा नवरा स्वरांग ला घेऊन हॉस्पिटलमध्ये आला…स्वरांग ला पूर्ण कल्पना दिली गेली होती…
त्याला पाहून पंडितजी मुग्ध होतात, तोच चेहरा…तोच आवाज…लता आपल्या मुलाला पाहून देहभान हरपते…गिरीजा मातृत्वाच्या आशेने त्याच्याकडे पाहते…आणि अनु बिचारी हतबल होऊन मान खाली घालून उभी राहते…
स्वरांग बोलू लागतो…
“आज मी 18 वर्षाचा सुजाण तरुण आहे…माझ्यावर हक्क दाखवायला इतक्या वर्षांनी सगळे आलात…आता मी कुणाकडे आपले आई वडील म्हणून बघणार हा निर्णय फक्त माझा असेल”
… तो अनुजवळ जातो…
“तू गर्भाशय उसनं आणलं….बीज उसनं घेतलं…कुठल्या अर्थाने मी तुझा मुलगा???”
अनु आणि तिचा नवरा मनाची तयारी करतात, की प्राणांहून प्रिय असा आपला मुलगा आता आपल्याला सोडून जाणार…
“तू सगळं उसनं घेतलंस…पण मातृत्व मात्र तुझं स्वतःचं होतं… मातृत्वाची आस, त्यासाठी केलेला तू संघर्ष, उचललेली रिस्क…हे उसनं नव्हतं…ज्यांनी मला नाकारलं अश्या मला तू तुझ्या हृदयात स्थान दिलंस… मला जीवापाड जपलं…फक्त मला मिळवण्यासाठी तू कायद्यापासून ते वैद्यकीय यंत्रणेला आव्हान दिलंस…हे कोण करू शकतं? हे फक्त आणि फक्त एक आई करू शकते…आई, मी कुणाच्या गर्भात वाढलो आहे, कुणाचं बीज आहे याच्याशी मला काही घेणं नाही…मला फक्त एवढं माहीत आहे, की जिच्या स्पर्शाने आई नावाचं रसायन मला कळलं, जिने माझ्या अस्तित्वाला उभारी दिली, जिने माझ्या पोटाची चिंता करून करून भूक काय असते हे कधी जाणवूच दिलं नाही, जिने स्वतःचं सगळं पणाला लावून माझ्यासारख्या परक्या जीवाला जीव दिला… तीच माझी आई….तूच माझी आई…तुला सोडून मी कुणाकडेही जाणार नाही…तू सोडून इतर कुणालाही मी ओळखत नाही…मी फक्त तुझा आहे… फक्त तुझा….”
