#खेळ_मांडला (भाग 11)
सागर आणि खुशी निरोप देऊन निघतात. खुशीला आता जरा जोर देऊन या प्रकरणाची माहिती काढायची असते, कारण आरोहीचा नवरा नकुल आणि ती खास मित्र असतात, आपल्या मित्राचा हा त्रास खुशीला बघवत नसतो. प्रमिला कडे सर्व गुपितं असतात पण ती कुणाला कळू देणार नव्हती, आणि सागरला तिने वचन दिलं होतं की ही गोष्ट कुणालाही समजणार नाही याची काळजी घे.
सागर आपल्या बहिणीच्या वचनाला पुरेपूर बांधील होता. चुकूनही त्याने आरोहीच्या बाबतीत घडलेल्या घटनेची वाच्यता केली नव्हती.

“मानव, आर्वीचा वाढदिवस येतोय जवळ..काय प्लॅनिंग करायचं?”
“नेहमीप्रमाणेच..घरी तिचे मित्र मैत्रिणी बोलवायचे”
“आपण नेहमी तिचा वाढदिवस असा साधा साजरा करतो..कधीतरी एखादा भव्य कार्यक्रम करू की..हॉटेल बुक करू, लोकांना निमंत्रण देऊ..”
“तसं करणं अवघड आहे का आपल्याला काव्या? पण त्या मागचं कारण तुला माहितीये. आर्वी ला चुकून समजलं की ती आपली मुलगी नाहीये, तिला आपण दत्तक घेतले आहे तर काय परिणाम होईल तिच्यावर? ती 2 महिन्याची असताना नुकतीच अनाथाश्रमात दाखल झाली होती, माझ्या कंपनीत त्या आश्रमाला डोनेशन मागण्यासाठी काही लोकं आलेली, त्यांच्यासोबत आपण दोघेही गेलेलो. तिथे तुला ती दिसली आणि तुला राहवलं नाही, तू तिला घेऊन आलीस..”
“मानव, मी तिला नंतर बघितलं.. पण तुझं लक्ष मात्र सारखं तिच्याकडे जात होतं, तुझ्या डोळ्यात नकळतपणे आलेले अश्रू माझ्या नजरेतून सुटले नव्हते..या आधी मी कितीदा दत्तक मुलासाठी हट्ट केलेला पण तू नकार दिलेलास, पण या मुलीला बघताच तू तिला छातीशी धरलं..”
“खरंच, चमत्कारच आहे..रक्ताची नाती नसली तरी हृदयाची नातीही ठरलेली असावी..”
“पण बघ ना..आर्वीला बघून कुणीही म्हणणार नाही की ही आपली मुलगी नाही म्हणून, अगदी तुझ्यासारखी दिसते..काय योगायोग आहे ना..”
“आणि हट्टीही माझ्यासारखीच आहे बरं का..”
“गुण तर घेतलेच तिने तुझे..”
“बरं या वाढदिवसाला आपण पुन्हा त्या अनाथाश्रमाला भेट देऊया..काही दान करूया..”
“ही कल्पना मस्त आहे..”

“नकुल..अपघातात माझं गर्भाशय डॅमेज झालं, मी आई नाही होऊ शकत असे डॉक्टर म्हणाले, पण…मला आई व्हायचंय..”
“कसं शक्य आहे?”
“आपण मुल दत्तक घेऊया??”
“सोपं नाही ते..”
“असं निपुत्रिक राहण्यापेक्षा एक आधार असावा जीवाला..असं मला वाटतं..”
“ठीक आहे तू म्हणत असशील तर एका अनाथाश्रमात जाऊया आपण..”
नकुल सुमितला फोन लावतो..
“सुमित, तू ज्या अनाथाश्रमातून माहिती काढत होतास त्याचा पत्ता दे..माझे दोन्ही कामं होऊन जातील. आरोहीच्या मनाचं समाधान आणि दुसरं त्या बाळाची काही माहिती मिळतेय का ते..”
सुमित नकुलला पत्ता देतो. आरोही-नकुल, मानव-काव्या एकाच वेळी अनाथाश्रमात पोहोचतात. नकुल-आरोही ऑफिसमध्ये असलेल्या माणसाशी बोलत असतात तर दुसरीकडे मानव-काव्या आर्वीकडून मुलांना खाऊ वाटत असतात.
“आर्वी बाळा, आता त्या अंकललाही देऊन ये जा खाऊ..”
ऑफिसमध्ये बसलेल्या त्या माणसाला खाऊचे पॅकेट द्यायला आर्वी जाते. आरोही तिला बघून चमकते, शरीरात काहीतरी लहरी वाहू लागतात, असं वाटू लागतं जसं शरीराचा एक दूर गेलेला अंश जवळ घुटमळतोय, आरोहीने कसलाही विचार न करता तिला जवळ घेतलं आणि तिचे मुके घेतले. तिच्या डोक्यावरून हात फिरवला, आरोहीला स्वतःला समजत नव्हतं ती असं का करतेय..
“ही तीच ना? सागरच्या लग्नाला आपल्याला भेटली होती ती?”
“हो..खूपच गोड मुलगी आहे..”
आर्वी तिथून जायला लागते तसं आरोहीचा जीव कळवळतो. ती तिच्या मागे जाते, आर्वी मानवकडे जाताच मानव आणि आरोहीची नजरानजर होते. आर्वी मानवच्या कडेवर बसते आणि आरोहीला जाणीव होते, आर्वी तिच्या हक्काच्या माणसाकडे गेली आहे ते. आरोही मागे वळते पण मानव तिला अचानक बघून एकदम चकित होतो. तिच्याशी खूप बोलावसं वाटतं, तिला खूप काही सांगवसं वाटतं पण…नकुल तिच्याजवळ होता, आणि शेजारी काव्या उभी…आरोहीला तर या सर्वांची काहीएक कल्पना नव्हती. मानवाकडे अनोळखी माणसागत बघून ती पाठ फिरवते.
“मानव, भूतकाळ विसर आता..काही उपयोग नाहीये त्याचा..”
काव्या मानवकडे बघून म्हणते..मानवने प्रामाणिकपणे काव्याला आपला भूतकाळ सांगितला होता. काव्यानेही मानवला त्याच्या भूतकाळासकट स्वीकारलं होतं. आरोही आपल्या आयुष्यात कधीही परत येणार नाही हे त्याला समजलं होतं आणि शेवटी आईने पसंत केलेल्या काव्याशी त्याने तडजोड केली. मानव भूतकाळ विसरायचा प्रयत्न करत असतानाच आरोही पुन्हा समोर आली, पण ती अनोळखी असल्यासारखी का वागतेय हे काही त्याला समजेना..
इकडे नकुल त्या अनाथाश्रमात चौकशी करत असतो, अमुक एका साली इथे एक 2 महिन्याची मुलगी दाखल झालेली याची माहिती त्याला हवी होती. भोंगळ कारभारामुळे नोंद काही व्यवस्थित नव्हती. तरीही नकुल सखोल चौकशी करत होता.

“हॅलो, प्रमिला ताई..आज आरोहीच्या घरी गेलेलो..”
“आरोही कडे?”
“हो..तिचा नवरा नकुल, खुशीचा मित्र आहे..”
“कशी आहे आरोही? खुश आहे ना? तिला मागचं काही आठवत नाहीये ना? तिचा नवरा कसा आहे?”
“सगळं व्यवस्थित आहे ताई..काळजी करू नकोस..”
“व्यवस्थित करायलाच प्रयत्न केला होता मी काही वर्षांपूर्वी… पण..”
“जाऊदे ताई.. भूतकाळ झाला तो आता..वर्तमानाकडे बघ आता..”
“हो पण भूतकाळातील खुणा वर्तमानात डोकावून पाहताय त्याचं काय?”
“असं का म्हणतेय?”
“आठवतोय का तुला 15 वर्षापूर्वीचा काळ?”

प्रमिला तिच्या घरात भाकरी थापत असते, सागर शेतीची कामं आटोपून येतच होता, आल्या आल्या त्याला जेवायला लागत असे..पण आज त्याला जरा उशीरच झाला. प्रमिला स्वयंपाक आटोपून बाहेर येते, शेजारी अलका मावशीच्या घरी काहीतरी गडबड तिला ऐकू येते. घरासमोर एक गाडी उभी असते, त्यातून एक सुंदर मुलगी बाहेर येते आणि मामीच्या गळ्यात पडून रडत असते.
“मामी, फार वाईट वागले गं आई बाबा माझ्याशी..”
“बाळ, तू रडू नकोस, आम्ही आहोत ना? काय झालंय नक्की?”
“नंतर सांगेन सगळं..”
“आधी तू आत चल, हात पाय धू..”
मळ्यात अलका मावशी आणि प्रमिला अशी दोनच घरं जवळजवळ होती. कुणी नवीन पाहुणा आलाय म्हणून प्रमिला अलका मावशीच्या घरी गेली.
“मावशी..कोण गं?”
“अगं ही माझी भाची आहे बघ, आरोही..”
प्रमिला आरोही जवळ गेली, आरोही कुठल्या तरी दुःखात आहे हे तिला समजलं. तिने मायेने आरोहीचा हात धरला..
“कुणी नसलं तरी तुझी ही मैत्रीण तुझ्या जवळ असेल..”
प्रमिलाने झटक्यात आरोहीशी मैत्री केली, काय करणार, गावात या दोन्ही कुटुंबांना एकमेकांचाच आधार होता, आणि समवयस्क म्हणून या दोघींचं चांगलं पटायला लागलं. आरोही आता प्रमिला कडे येत जाऊ लागली, प्रमिला जवळ आपली सल बोलून दाखवावी असं आरोहीला नेहमी वाटे, पण तिला काय वाटेल हे ऐकून? याचा विचार करत ती मौन बाळगे.
महिना उलटला, प्रमिला आणि आरोही घट्ट मैत्रिणी झाल्या. दुपारच्या वेळी आरोही प्रमिलाकडे गेली असता तिला अचानक मळमळ होऊ लागली..प्रमिलाने तिला आधार देत पाठ टेकायला लावली.
“जेवण कमी जास्त झालं का गं? इकडचं पचत नसेल तुला..नाहीतर पाणी बदल झाला म्हणून..”
आरोही सुन्न झालेली.
“या महिन्यात…मला..प्रदर आलेला नाही..” आरोहीच्या कपाळावर घाम जमला होता, अंग थरथरत होतं..
प्रमिलाला सुरवातीला लक्षात आलं नाही, नंतर समजलं की…आरोहीला दिवस गेलेत..
