कुणालची आई पेढे द्यायला घरी आली होती, मोठ्या अभिमानाने कुणालच्या नव्या नोकरीच्या बढाया मारत होती..

जोशात कुणालच्या आईला आपण काय बोलत आहोत हे समजत नव्हतं, ओघाओघात सुरभीच्या आईला आपण दुखवतोय हे तिच्या लक्षातच आलं नाही..कुणालची आई निघून जाते, सुरभीच्या आईला त्यांचे शब्द कानात टोचू लागतात, एक तर मुलगी आहे म्हणून एक टोमणा अन दुसरीकडे अजून नीट नोकरी नाही म्हणून चिडचिड..

बॉस वरमतो, पण मान्य करत नाही की सुरभी निर्दोष आहे, चोरावर मोर अजून म्हणतो कसा..

“तू चांगली माणसं आणत नाहीस म्हणून ओळखीतल्या लोकांना बोलावतो आम्ही..”

सुरभीच्या डोळ्यात आग असते, वशिला अन पैशाच्या जोरावर आलेली मुलं हमखास आपटतात आणि खापर मात्र सुरभीवर..

ती घरी गेली..गेल्या गेल्या आईनेही सुरू केलं..

“अगं कुणालला म्हणे 20 लाखांचं पॅकेज मिळालं आहे, म्हणजे महिन्याला दीड एक लाखाच्या आसपास..”

“अरेवा..छान..”

“त्या म्हणत होत्या, सुरभी काय करतेय.. किती पगार आहे तिला..”

वैतागलेल्या सुरभीला पाहून आईला वाईट वाटलं, अपेक्षेच्या ओझ्याखाली सुरभीला दाबून तिचा आनंद आपण हिरावून घेतोय हे तिच्या लक्षात आलं..सगळं बाजूला ठेऊन आई म्हणाली.

“माफ कर मुली, हे बघ…कसलाच विचार करू नकोस..तू फक्त आनंदी रहा..या जगाची स्पर्धा कधीच संपणार नाही..या स्पर्धेत माणूस जगायचं विसरून जातो…तू भलेही चार पैसे कमी कमव पण आनंदी राहायला शिक. ”

आईच्या या शाब्दिक उबेने सुरभीला खूप आधार वाटला..ती आईच्या कुशीत शिरून रडू लागली..

“एक काम कर, माझ्यासोबत उद्या गावी चल..लग्न आहे माझ्या एका मावस भावाच्या मुलाचं..”

“पण बिन काही नाही..तुला यावच लागेल. तेवढाच जरा बदल..”

सुरभिलाही थोडा चेंज हवा होता सर्व व्यापातून.. ती तयार झाली.
