“देवाने एक मुलगा मलाही दिला असता तर काय बिघडलं असतं…”
ऑफिस ची तयारी करत असताना शेजारच्याच्या लहान मुलाचा आवाज ऐकू आला, त्यांना मोठाही मुलगाच होता..दुसऱ्या खेपेला त्यांना मुलीची अपेक्षा असताना परत मुलगाच झाला..
“ज्यांना मुलगी हवी त्यांना द्यावी ना…देवपण कसला न्याय करतो कुणास ठाऊक…”
मानव चं आपल्या दोन्ही मुलींवर प्रेम होतं यात शंका नाही, पण त्याहून अधिक सल होती ती मुलगा नसल्याची. नातेवाईक, मित्र आणि शेजारी…सर्वजण आपापल्या मुलांचं कौतुक करत…मानवलाही मग थोडं वाईट वाटायचं.
त्यात भर म्हणून गावाकडची मंडळी हळहळ व्यक्त करायची, दुसरा मुलगा झाला असता तर बरं झालं असतं…
एक दिवशी मानव असाच ड्युटी वर निघालेला असताना शेजारचा माणूसही आपली गाडी काढत होता..त्याचा मुलगा पळतच बाहेर आला,
“बाबा मला पण यायचं..” म्हणून मागे लागू लागला, हट्ट करू लागला…आईने ओढत त्याला मध्ये नेलं तरी काही ऐकेना..
“फार हट्टी आहे बुवा..” असं म्हणत आई आणि वडिलांचं कौतुक त्यांचा चेहऱ्यावर झळकत होतं…
शेवटी चॉकलेट चं आमिष दाखवून त्याला कसंतरी सावरलं…आई वडिलांना मुलाच्या कृष्णलीला पाहून अभिमान वाटत होता, दुसरीकडे मानवला त्यांचाबद्दल ईर्षा अजून वाढू लागली…
इतक्यात आतून लहान सई धावत आली…
आता हिपण आकांडतांडव करते की काय, मानव ने वळून बघितलं..
“पप्पा पप्पा…तुमचं स्वेटर राहिलं होतं… घालून घ्या…”
“नको बेटा, थंडी नाहीये आज इतकी..”
“पप्पा घ्या हो…घालून घ्या हो…”
“नको हो…”
“घ्या हो..”
बाप लेकीचा प्रेमळ संवाद चालू होता…इवल्याश्या लेकीला बापाबद्दलची काळजी तिच्या चेहऱ्यावर दिसत होती…
मी जवळून हे सगळं बघत होतो..
“काय मानव साहेब…फार हौस ना मुलाची? मुलगा असता तर घेतली असती का अशी काळजी?”
त्या दिवसापासून मानव च्या चेहऱ्यावर एक वेगळीच झळाळी आली होती…

(मुलं वाईट असतात असं नाही, त्यांनाही माया असते , पण लेकीच्या मायेची सर त्याला नाही हेही खरे..)
