“नाही म्हणजे तो तसा राहतो माझ्याशिवाय, पण आता शाळेतून आला की विचारेल, आई कुठे गेलीये ते..”

“अगं लहान नाहीये तो, राहील बरोबर, मी सांभाळेल त्याला”

“तुम्ही खूप छान सांभाळतात, यात शंकाच नाही..पण काही गोष्टी सांगून जाते तेवढ्या फक्त लक्षात घ्या”

“कोणत्या?” नवऱ्याने त्रासिक भाव करत तिच्याकडे पाहिलं..

“त्याला आठवडाभर चुकूनही दूध देऊ नका..दूध चांगलं असलं तरी दुधाने त्याचा कफ वर येतो…त्रास होतो त्याला..फळांमध्ये फक्त पपई द्या एवढ्या दिवसात…”

“बरं..” नवरा मोबाईल मध्ये बघत म्हणाला..

तो लक्ष देत नाहीये हे बघत ती परत म्हणाली,

“लक्ष आहे का तुमचं?

आणि त्याला रात्री लवकर झोपवत जा, तो जागरण करण्यासाठी कारण शोधतो आणि सकाळी उठायला त्रास होतो त्याला..परत दिवसभर धावपळ..हे वाढत राहिलं की ताप चढतो त्याला. आणि रात्री सॉक्स घालूनच झोपवत जा त्याला, नाहीतर लगेच सर्दी पकडतो..”

“अगं तुझा नवरा डॉकटर आहे त्याला काय सांगतेस तू?” सासुबाई हसू लागल्या आणि नवराही..

आणि मी चार चार मुलं सांभाळली आहेत, हा एक सांभाळणार नाही का?”

ती काळजी करत निघून गेली..

संध्याकाळी दिवेश घरी आला, आल्या आल्या सासूबाईंनी त्याला खायला दिलं, पुरेपूर काळजी घेतली…

रात्री सर्वजण मिळून पेरू खात होते, दिवेशला नवऱ्याने आग्रह केला..
