सर्व चॅनेल वर बिल्डर सुधीरच्या अटकेची बातमी दाखवत होते, सुधीर नुकतीच वकिलांशी चर्चा करून बाहेर पडत होते तेवढ्यात मीडियाने त्यांना घेराव घातला..

“जमिनीच्या गैरव्यवहाराचा आरोप आपल्यावर आहे, काय सांगाल त्याबद्दल..”

“ती जमीन शेतकऱ्यांची आहे असं ऐकिवात आहे, तुम्ही खरंच शेतकऱ्यांच्या जमिनी बळकवल्या का??”

सुधीर कुणालाही उत्तर न देता आपल्या अंगरक्षकांआडून पुढे चालत होते… एवढ्यात मागून एक प्रश्न आला..

“सर्व आरोप मिटवण्यासाठी यंत्रणेला किती पैसे दिलेत??”

या सडेतोड प्रश्नाने सर्व पत्रकार एकदम शांत झाले…सर्वांनी मागे वळून पाहिलं…शिखा माईक घेत पुढे आली आणि कॅमेरामन तिच्या पाठोपाठ आला…
सुधीर चिडून बोलायला लागले..

“तुझी हिम्मत कशी..”

एवढ्यात त्यांचा अंगरक्षकाने त्यांना शांत केलं…

“साहेब , नको ते वाद ओढवून घेऊ नका….चला इथून..”

सुधीर चरफडत तिथून चालायला लागले आणि आपल्या गाडीत जाऊन बसले…सर्व पत्रकार शिखा च्या या बोल्ड वागण्याने आश्चर्यचकित झालेले…शिखा ने कॅमेरामन ला त्याचा जाईपर्यंत चा पूर्ण व्हिडीओ रेकॉर्ड करायला लावला…

शिखा ज्या मीडिया कंपनीत पत्रकार म्हणून काम करत होती तिथे तर आज माहोल बनला होता…तिच्या त्या प्रश्नाचा आणि त्यावर सुधीर यांनी दिलेल्या प्रतिक्रियेचा व्हिडीओ क्षणात व्हायरल झालेला…चॅनेल चा trp वाढला आणि शिखा च्या पत्रकारितेचं खूप कौतुक झालं…

“मिस शिखा…अभिनंदन… तुमच्यामुळे आज चॅनेल ला खूप फायदा झाला आहे…इतकंच नाही, पण तुमच्या या धीट प्रश्नाने संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात तुमचं कौतुक होत आहे…”

शिखा चं मन मात्र दुसरीकडेच होतं… कॅमेऱ्यात त्या बिल्डर चा व्हिडीओ रेकॉर्ड केलेला…त्यात त्याला अचानक एका माणसाने मागून येऊन एक कागद दिलेला..तो खिशात ठेऊन सुधीर निघाले होते… तिला या सगळ्याचा छडा लावायचा होता…

संध्याकाळी ती साहिल ला भेटायला हॉटेलवर गेली आणि त्याने मागे पुढे काहीही न बघता तिला मिठी मारली…

“अरे हो….काय हे..”

“तुला माहितीये, आज 2 आनंदाच्या बातम्या आहेत…”

“अरेवा…काय बरं??”

“एक तर तुझी आज संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात हवा झालीये…दुसरं म्हणजे माझ्या घरी आपल्या लग्नाची परवानगी मिळवली आहे मी..”

“काय? खरंच??”

“हो…”

“माझी अट लक्षात आहे ना?? लग्नानंतर मी माझं काम सोडणार नाही..”

“हो मॅडम..”

साहिल काहीसा तुटकपणे म्हणाला…

“नक्की ना??”

“हो गं… आणि ऐक, आपण तिथे फक्त 2 महिने राहणार आहोत…तोवर तू कामाला ब्रेक दे..नंतर आपण इकडे शिफ्ट होणार आहोत…. मग पुन्हा तुझं काम तू सुरू कर..”

“ठिके…दोनच महिन्याचा प्रश्न आहे ना? चालेल..”

शिखाने घरात पहिलं पाऊल टाकलं आणि आपलं सासरचा गोतावळा ती बघतच राहिली, एवढी माणसं पाहून खरं तर ती गोंधळून गेली होती…साहिल ने तिचा हात पकडून तिला धीर दिला तसं तिला हायसं वाटलं.

शिखा चं सासर दूरच्या एका खेडेगावात होतं… खेडेगाव असलं तरी 15 खोल्यांचा मोठा आलिशान बंगला होता..त्यात शहरापेक्षा अधिक सुविधा…आणि एकत्र कुटुंब…6 भाऊ, त्यांची मुलं, नातवंड सर्वजण एकत्र..ती हे सगळं पाहुन दडपून गेली…पण मनाला सतत समजूत घालत होती… दोनच महिन्याचा प्रश्न आहे…

दुसऱ्या दिवशी सासूबाई तिच्याजवळ आल्या, त्या म्हणाल्या…

“पोराने अगदी हिरा शोधून आणलाय बरं.. नशीबवान आहे माझा मुलगा..”

“अहो आई इतकं काय त्यात, तुमचा मुलगा इतका देखणा, शिक्षित…त्याला कुणीही मिळाली असती..”

“पण आमच्या अटीप्रमाणे मिळणं शक्यच नव्हतं ना..”

“कुठली अट??”

“या घराचा एक नियम आहे, घरात कुठलीही सून आणताना तिचं शिक्षण चौथीच्या वर नसावं..आता हेच बघ, मी..तुझ्या सगळ्या सासवा, पहिली पास ..आणि साहिल ला तर शिक्षित मुलींशीवाय स्थळ येतच नव्हती… पण विशेष बघ, तुझ्याशी त्याने प्रेमविवाह केला..आणि तेही आपल्या अटीला पकडून..”

शिखाच्या मनात वादळ उठलं, तीही धडधड वाढू लागली…तोंडातून एक शब्द फुटेना…साहिल ने चक्क फसवलं आपल्याला…
