 “जातो विकेन्ड्स ला..”

“सगळ्याच जाती धर्माची लोकं असतील..”

“हो…पूजा, अदिती, सुयश, मनजीत, अब्दुल, फारूक, क्रिस्टन..”

नावं ऐकताच बापाला धस्स झालं,

“मग ही मुलं जास्त जवळीक नाही ना करत?…म्हणजे…बोलणं, सोबत करणं..”

वडिलांना डायरेक्ट विचारताही येत नव्हतं,

भीती होती,

एक तर चुकीचं काही ऐकायला येऊ नये,

दुसरं एवढ्या शिकलेल्या मुलीला आपल्या जुनाट विचारांची किळस वाटेल की काय ही भीती…

भक्तीला रोख समजला,

ती वडिलांच्या जवळ आली,

वडिलांचा हात हातात घेतला आणि शांततेत म्हणाली,

“बाबा, तुमचा रोख समजतोय मला…फोनवरही तुमची काळजी कळत होती त्यामुळे ताबडतोब इकडे निघून आले, अरुणा ताईचं समजलल, वाईट झालं खूप…पण एका साच्यात सर्व गोष्टी टाकून बघू नका…”

बापाने मन मोकळं केलं,

“पोरी जे ऐकू येतं ते पाहून काळजात चर्र होतं बघ, तुझ्या बाबतीत असं काही झालं तर मी …”

वडिलांचं वाक्य अर्धवट तोडत ती म्हणाली,

“बाबा, शांत व्हा…आणि तुम्हाला मी आज माझी काही स्पष्ट मतं सांगते..”

वडील कान देऊन ऐकू लागले,

“या देशाला जसा आफताब सारखा राक्षस मिळाला असेल तर अब्दुल कलाम सारखे देवही मिळालेत…आमच्या ऑफिसमध्ये अब्दुल, फारूक यांच्यासारखे माझे मित्र तर एका हाकेवर धावत येतात.”

तिचं हे समर्थन ऐकून वडिलांची धडधड अजून वाढली,

पण ती पुढे म्हणाली,

“बाबा, काळजी करू नका, जोडीदार निवडण्याबाबत माझी काही परखड मतं आहेत ती मी सांगते. ही कदाचित कुणाला पटणार नाहीत किंवा धर्मांध वाटतील..पण मी ठाम आहे. 

आपली हिंदू संस्कृती जगातील सर्वात पुरातन संस्कृतीपैकी एक आहे. आपल्या ऋषींनी, संतांनी दिलेलं धार्मिक योगदान आणि आसेतूहीमाचल केलेलं कार्य अभिमानास्पद आहे. आपण हिंदू आहोत, एका भव्य आणि तेजस्वी संस्कृतीचे भाग आहोत. भगवान रामचंद्रांचा जन्मही अश्या वंशात झाला ज्यांच्या सात सात पिढ्या शुद्ध होत्या..या जन्मात कितीही चांगले संस्कार केले तरी काही संस्कार हे रक्तातच येतात, पिढ्यानूपिढ्यांच्या संस्कारांनी..आपली संस्कृती इतकी तेजस्वी आहे की या संस्कृतीत वाढलेला प्रत्येक व्यक्ती माणूस म्हणून उत्तम असतो, 

मला असा जोडीदार हवाय ज्याने लहानपणी रामायणातील गोष्टी ऐकल्या असतील, बायकोशी एकनिष्ठ राहण्यासाठी..

मला असा जोडीदार हवाय ज्याच्या तोंडी गायत्री मंत्राचे उच्चार असतील, शुद्ध वाणी असलेला..

मला असा जोडीदार हवाय जो आपल्या भगवद्गीतेला प्रमाण मानून तसं आचरण करण्याचा निदान प्रयत्न तरी करतो,

मला असा जोडीदार हवाय ज्याने घरातील आई वडिलांना प्रामाणिकपणे संसार करतांना, तडजोड करताना पाहिलंय..

दुसऱ्या धर्माबद्दल मला आदर आहे, प्रत्येक धर्मात योग्य आचरणच शिकवतात, 

पण धर्म आणि प्रेम यात निवड करायची असेल तर शिवरायांच्या स्वराज्याला स्मरून ही शिवकन्या तुम्हाला वचन देते की मी धर्मच निवडेन !

पण मला माझ्या धर्माचा प्रचंड अभिमान आहे आणि मी तोच कायम पुढे नेणार..

स्पष्टच सांगते,

आपली संस्कृती जपणारा, आपल्या संस्कृतीच्या संस्कारांनी घडलेला जोडीदारच मी निवडेन…

मुलीचे विचार ऐकून बापाला तिला शिकवून आणि स्वातंत्र्य देऊन कृतकृत्य झाल्यासारखं वाटलं..आणि आपल्या संस्कारांवर अजूनच विश्वास बसला..
