आत्ता पर्यंत काय झालं ते बघू
खुशी ऑफिस मधे जॉईन झाली. ती सत्य शोधु नये म्हणून कबीरने तिला खूप कामाला लावल. ती डोळ्यासमोर राहील. इतर चौकशी करणार नाही हाच त्याचा उद्देश असतो.
त्याच तिच्यावर प्रेम आहे. ती हवी पण तिच्या घरचे त्याला नको आहेत अस कॉप्लीकेशन आहे. सगळ्यांना वाटत तो का अस करतो? प्रेम आहे तर त्रास का देतो? बघु पुढे काय होतय ते.
…
आता पुढे.
विराज ऑफिस मधे आला सगळे त्याच्या कडे बघत होते. खुशी आश्चर्य चकित झाली.
हा खरच कबीरचा भाऊ आहे? त्याच्या सारखाच दिसतो आहे. खुशी त्याला काही विचारणार तेवढ्यात कबीर बाहेर आला. ” विराज चल आत.”
खुशी बघत राहिली. या कबीरने माझ्या पासून काय काय लपवल आहे. एक एक गोष्टी आता बाहेर येत आहेत. आता आमचा काहीही संबंध नाही. काहीही कर म्हणा.
दोघ आत गेले.
“तु इकडे काय करतो विराज? तुला ह्या ऑफिसचा पत्ता कोणी दिला? ” कबीर रागात होता.
“दादा परीक्षा झाली. थोडा वेळ होता म्हणून इकडे आलो. मामा ही गावाहून आला आहे.” त्याने सांगितल.
“कुठे आहे मामा?” कबीर इकडे तिकडे बघत होता.
“कोणी ओळखीचे आहेत त्यांच्या कडे गेला आहे.”
मामा नक्की त्या मुलीकडे गेला असेल जिच्याशी त्याला माझ लग्न जमवायच आहे. मामा खूप हट्टी आहे. तो पूर्वी पासून अस का करतो ते समजत नाही. मी आज बोलणार आहे त्याच्याशी. त्या आधी काहीही करून मला खुशीला मनवाव लागेल. एकंदरीत परिस्थिती बघता हे अवघड वाटत आहे. त्याला टेंशन आल होत. फॅमिली प्रेशर जास्त होत.
अंजली आत आली. ते तिघ बोलत होते.
” नवीन ऑफिस इथे का शिफ्ट केल दादा? हे ऑफिस छान आहे. ” विराजने सहज विचारल.
“शिफ्ट नाही केल .परांजपे इंडस्ट्रीज टेक ओव्हर केली ना.” अंजलीने सांगितल. कबीरने तिला डोळ्याने गप्प बस अस खुणावल.
“काय झालं दादा? टेक ओव्हर? अंजली तू काय म्हटली?”
“काही नाही विराज. तू जा बंगल्यावर मी थोड्या वेळाने येतो. मग आपण बोलू. ” कबीरला वाटत होत विराजला काही समजू नये.
“मला आता काही काम नाही. मी इथे थांबतो मला बघायच आहे इथे काय काम चालत. मला ही ऑफिस मधे यायच दादा.” विराज एक्साईटेड होता.
“आत्ता नाही विराज. तुझ कॉलेज पूर्ण होऊ दे. आम्हाला डीस्टर्ब करायच नाही. घरी जा. “
कबीर अंजली कडे बघत होता. “तुझ काम झाल का अंजु?”
” करते कबीर. ” ती उठून बाहेर गेली.
विराज कंपनी बद्दल माहिती विचारत होता. कबीरच्या कपाळावर आठ्या होत्या. “मला महत्वाची ईमेल करायची आहे विराज. “
” तू तुझ काम कर दादा मी बाहेर आहे. “
” नाही इथे माझ्या समोर बस विराज.” बाहेर ती खुशी दबा धरून असेल. तिला चान्स हवा. ती नक्की विराजशी बोलण्याचा प्रयत्न करेल.
खुशी बाहेर बसलेली होती. ती अजूनही विराज बद्दल विचार करत होती. हा कामाला येईल. पण त्याच्याशी बोलणार कस? आज नंतर तो परत या ऑफिस मधे येईल की नाही माहिती नाही. त्याला कॉफी नेवून देवू का? नको तिथे तो व्हीलन कबीर असेल. तो माझा जीव घेईल. मग तो विराज घरी जातांना त्याच्या मागे जावु का? तो कबीर सोबत घरी जाईल. किती मोठी भारी कार आहे कबीरची आमच्या कडे ही अशी नाही. कस काय पिछा करणार. त्यात तो कबीर अति हुशार त्याला पाच मिनिटात समजेल मी मागे येते आहे. तो मला पकडेल. यातून काहीच मार्ग सापडत नाही.
तिला एकदम काही तरी आठवल. ती बाहेर ऑफिस मधे आली. “राघव एक काम कर आता. केबिन मधून एक मुलगा निघेल त्याच्याशी बाहेर जावुन बोल. इथे येणार्‍या लोकांचे फोटो घे.” तिने पटापट सांगितल. ती निघून गेली.
“हो. ठीक आहे. पण कोण खुशी? पूर्ण माहिती तरी दे.” राघव आवाज देत होता. कोण मुलगा आता. बघाव लागेल.
खुशी जागेवर जाऊन बसली. कबीर केव्हाही आवाज देतो. तिला चुका करायच्या नव्हत्या.
साडे पाच झाले. अजुन का तो मुलगा घरी जात नाही. आत जावून बघू का? तीने सामान घेतल. ती केबिन मधे गेली. विराज नुसता बसला होता. कबीर त्याच काम करत होता.
” मी घरी जावू का कबीर सर? ” तिने विचारल.
विराज तिच्या कडे बघत होता. ती त्याच्याशी थोडी हसली.
“हो जा.”
“तुम्हाला दोघांना काही हव का चहा कॉफी?” खुशी बघत होती विराज काय म्हणतोय.
“काही नको. खुशी तू जा.” कबीर बिझी होता.
ती गेली.
“कोण आहे ही?” विराज ती गेली तिकडे बघत होता.
“ऑफिस मधे काम करते. माझी असिस्टंट आहे .” कबीर म्हणाला.
“वाह दादा.”
कबीरने त्याच्या कडे रागाने बघितल.
सॉरी.
……
खुशी बस स्टॉप वर आली. इथे थांबू का? कबीरची वाट बघू का? काही उपयोग होणार नाही. माझी रिक्षा त्यांच्या हाय एंड कार शी स्पर्धा करू शकणार नाही. ती विचार करत होती. एक माणूस तिच्या कडे बघत होता. हा तोच आहे का जो माझ्यावर लक्ष ठेवतो? कबीरचा माणुस? बोलून बघू का याच्याशी. तो लगेच गायब झाला.
ती इकडे तिकडे बघत होती. हा माणूस सारखा मागे येतो. माझी माहिती कबीरला देतो. याच्या मुळे मला काहीही करता येत नाही. ती त्याला शोधत होती. असेल इथे कुठे. कुठून तरी चोरून बघत असेल. कोणीतरी सापडायला हव या कबीरची माहिती देणार. मी हार माननार नाही.
…
खुशी घरी आली तिने चहा ठेवला. माई उठून आल्या. “खुशी बेटा तू का चहा करते? जा बस मी करते.”
“माई मी करते. मला सवय झाली.”
रश्मी ताई घरी आल्या. तिने सगळ्यांना चहा दिला.
“खुशी बेटा आज काय काम केल?” सतीश राव विचारत होते. त्यांच ऑफिस होत ते. त्यांना उत्सुकता होती की काय सुरू आहे तिकडे. त्यांना अस शांत बसायची सवय नव्हती. पण आता काही इलाज नव्हता. काय कराव ते सुचत नव्हत. जे त्यांच होत तिथून तर त्यांना निर्दयी पणे बाहेर काढल होत. कारण ही त्यांना माहिती नव्हतं. कठिण काळ होता.
“काही नाही बाबा. थोड अकाऊंटच काम होत.” खुशी दुसरीकडे बघत म्हणाली.
” कोणाच अकाऊंट त्यांच की आपल.” सतीश राव विचारत होते.
“बाबा त्यांनी मला थोड काम दिलेलं ते केल. त्या लोकांनी दीक्षित काकांना अजून बर्‍याच लोकांना कामावरून काढून टाकल.” खुशीने सांगितल नाही की तिला ऑफिस असिस्टंट केल आहे. असिस्टंट काय शिपाई आहे. चहा पाणी आणि साफसफाई हे माझ काम आहे. घरचे आधीच त्रासात आहेत. ते घाबरतील. दुःखी होतील. जास्त बोलायच नाही.
“काय सुरू आहे हे? दीक्षितला फोन लाव. “सतीश राव चिडले होते.
“हो ना दीक्षित काकां ऐवजी मला तरी काढून टाकायच होत. मी पूर्ण फसली आहे . माझी सुटका नाही.” खुशी खिन्न पणे म्हणाली. तिने फोन लावला. दीक्षित, सतीश राव बराच वेळ बोलत होते.
“आई तुझा कसा होता पहिला दिवस?” खुशी किचन मधे आली. रश्मी ताई कामात होत्या.
” चांगला होता काही प्रॉब्लेम नाही. नेहमीच हिशोबाच काम होत. तू खूप दमलेली वाटते आहे. ” त्या खुशी कडे बघत होत्या.
“हो आई ऑफिस कामाची सवय नाही. त्यात बस ने या.”
“हो खूप वेळ जातो तसा. “
” तुझ्या डोक्याला तेल लावून देवू का खुशी? ” माई म्हणाल्या.
“आता नको माई, रात्री.”
दिपू अभ्यास करत होती. “दिपू तू कस जातेस कॉलेजला? तुझे सगळे बूकस वगैरे आहेत ना?”
“बस ने खुशी दी .नंतर क्लास असतो तर तिथेच थांबते. सगळ आहे.”
“भरपूर डबा नेत जा.”
सगळे बघत होते खुशी वेगळीच समजूतदार झाली होती. गप्प झाली होती. आधीचा अल्लड पणा निरागसता कुठे तरी हरपली होती. याला म्हणतात परिस्थितीचे चटके. आता काहीही काम द्या खुशी तयार होती. फक्त आई, बाबा, दीपु, माई यांना त्रास व्हायला नको.
माई, रश्मी ताईंनी मिळून स्वयंपाक केला . खुशी लवकर जेवून झोपली. तिचे खूप पाय दुखत होते. झोपते ती कण्हत होती.
“काय झाल खुशी बेटा? त्रास होतो का?” माई डोक्यावरून हात फिरवत होत्या.
“ऑफिस मधे खुप काम असत माई. माझे हात पाय खूप दुखत आहेत.”
त्यांनी तिच्या पायावरून हात फिरवला.
…
खुशी घरी गेल्यावर कबीर रीलॅक्स झाला होता. विराज अंजली सोबत कॅन्टीन मध्ये जावुन आला. तो कंपनी बद्दल बरीच माहिती विचारात होता.
“मला ही विशेष माहिती नाही विराज. कबीरने रीक्वेस्ट केली म्हणून मी इथे जॉईन झाली. ” अंजली म्हणाली.
” ती मुलगी खुशी, ती का अस चहा पाणीच काम करते? चांगली वाटते ती?” विराजने विचारल.
” मी म्हटलं ना विराज मला ही काही माहिती नाही.” अंजली घाबरली होती उगीच मी या विराजला काही सांगितल तर कबीर चिडेल.
” मला तर काही तरी विचित्र वाटत आहे.” विराज म्हणाला.
” मला ही, पण कोण विचारेल कबीरला तो चिडतो. ” अंजली विचार करत होती उद्या खुशीला विचारू. अस वाटत ते दोघ एकमेकांना ओळखतात.
” हो ना. मला पण दादा ओरडला. मी आता इथे येणार नाही. “
कबीर विराज घरी यायला निघाले. तो पर्यंत राघव थांबला नाही. बराच उशीर झाला होता.
ते घरी आले. जेवण तयार होत. मामा पुढे बसुन बातम्या बघत होते.
“मामा तू ऑफिस मधे का नाही आलास?” कबीर त्याच्या जवळ बसला.
“तस महत्वाच काम होत. बाहेर गेलो होतो. “मामा म्हणाले.
” मी आवरून येतो.” विराज आत गेला.
“कबीर तुझ काम कस सुरू आहे ?”
“आता पर्यंत तरी ठीक. वैतागले ते लोक.” कबीर म्हणाला. त्याच्या डोळ्या समोर खुशी होती. आज किती थकली होती ती. तिला कामाची सवय नाही. पण ती माझ ऐकत नाही हट्ट करते. म्हणून तिच्या बाबतीत मी स्ट्रीक्ट होतो.
मामा हसत होता. “हेच हवं होत ना आपल्याला. “
कबीर विचार करत होता मला खरच हे हव होत? सुलक्षणा ताईंच्या शिकवणी प्रमाणे कधी कोणाला त्रास देवू नये अस त्या म्हणायच्या.
“तुझ्या साठी आनंदाची बातमी आहे कबीर . एक स्थळ आलं आहे. मुलगी खूप चांगली आहे. उद्या भेटून घे त्यांना. तुला योग्य वाटल तर मग आपल्या घरचे इकडे येतील.” मामा उत्साही होते.
” मामा हे करायला हव का? आता आपला वेगळा गोंधळ सुरू आहे ना. आधी हा प्रॉब्लेम नीट होवू दे ना. ” कबीर आश्चर्याने बघत होता.
” तू योग्य वयात आहेस. आणि मुलीकडचे मोठी पार्टी आहे. पैशावाली. तुला आयुष्यभर सपोर्ट राहील. त्यांच्या वरपर्यंत ओळखी आहेत. ताईची ही हीच इच्छा आहे. ” मामाने स्पष्ट सांगितल.
” मामा मला खुशी सोबत लग्न करायच आहे. ” कबीर म्हणाला.
” तू तिला इतका त्रास देतोस ती तुझ्या सोबत प्रेमाने राहील का? आणि ते लोक बरोबर नाहीत. काय झालं आहे तुला माहिती आहे ना. ते परांजपे जिवावर उठतात. मला रिस्क घ्यायची नाही. तू अस का करतोस. हट्ट सोड. का आयुष्य खराब करून घेतो. “
” मामा खुशी चांगली आहे. तिला काही माहिती नाही म्हणून ती माझ्या विरोधात आहे. झाल त्यात तिचा काय दोष.”कबीर म्हणाला.
” एवढ प्रेम आहे तर मग का त्रास देतो तिला. विसरून जा सगळं. जा वापस कर त्यांची फॅक्टरी घर. प्रेमाने रहा. मला काही अडचण नाही. ” मामा चिडले होते.
” मामा का अस म्हणतोस. प्रेम काही सांगून होत का? ती उगीच आपला प्लॅन खराब करेल म्हणून तिला डोळ्यासमोर ठेवलं. बाकी काही नाही. मी काही अस वागायला वाईट मुलगा नाही. थोडे दिवस. नंतर अस होणार नाही. मला खुशी सोबत नीट रहायच आहे. “कबीर मामाला समजावत होता.
” तुला आवडते ना ती. रहा तिच्या सोबत. अफेअर वगैरे ठीक आहे. पण हे लग्न नाही होणार. तिची आपली बरोबरी होऊ शकत नाही. तू विचार कर यावर. “
” मामा काय बोलतोस तू?”
“बरोबर आहे. तुला तिच्याशी प्रेम करायची परवानगी मी दिली नव्हती. सांगितल काय आणि तू केल काय?”
“परवानगी लागते का मामा? प्रेम आपोआप होत ना . तीच माझ्या बाबतीत काळजी घेण. व्यवस्थित वागण मी काय कोणीही तिच्या प्रेमात पडेल इतकी चांगली आहे ती. “
” तू काहीही सांगितल तरी जमणार नाही. काहीही असली तरी ती दुश्मन आहे. ” मामा ओरडले.
मामा…..
विराज बाहेर आला. दोघ गप्प बसले.
कबीर फ्रेश व्हायला रूम मधे गेला. त्याला मामा म्हटला ते अजिबात पटल नव्हत. त्यांनी सोफ्यावर कोट फेकला. ग्लासात पाणी घेवून घटाघट पिल. मला खुशी हवी. फॅमिली प्रेशर जास्त आहे. खुशी ही हो म्हणणार नाही. तिची एकच अट आहे फॅक्टरी घर वापस कर. ते शक्य नाही. मी खुशी साठी काहीही करेन.
ते तिघं जेवायला बसले. विराज समोर ते शांत होते.
“कबीर दादा तू ती कंपनी टेक ओव्हर केली का? म्हणजे काय केल?” विराजने विचारल.
कबीर आधीच चिडलेला होता. त्यात विराज उगीच प्रश्न विचारत होता. त्याने रागाने त्याच्या कडे बघितल.
“काही नाही भालेराव ग्रुप ने ती कंपनी आपल्याला चालवायला दिली .” मामा म्हणाले.
“त्यांनी का सांगितल आपल्याला. ते का नाही काम करत? ” विराजला वाटत होत काहीतरी गडबड आहे.
” बेटा मी तुला नंतर सांगेल तू जेव बर.” मामा म्हणाले.
मामाने विषय बदलला ते बर झाल.
“विराज तुझा पेपर कसा होता? ” कबीर विचारात होता.
” छान गेला. “
” कसला होता?” मामा म्हणाले.
” मी क्लास लावला आहे. एमबीए साठी. तो क्लास इतक्या दिवस ऑनलाईन होता. त्यांच्या प्रॅक्टिस टेस्ट होत्या. आता इथे राहून ऑफ लाइन क्लास आहे. ” विराजने सांगितल तस मामा कबीर एकमेकांकडे बघत होते.
” तु इथे राहणार?” कबीर म्हणाला.
“हो काही प्रॉब्लेम.” विराजला आश्चर्य वाटल हा दादा असा काय करतो आहे.
“काही प्रॉब्लेम नाही ,पण तुझ काम करायच ऑफिस मधे यायच नाही. ” त्याने स्पष्ट सांगितल.
“मामा दादाला सांग ना. हा का अस करतो. आजही तिकडे मला ओरडला.” विराज चिडला होता.
” बरोबर बोलतो आहे तो. तू एमबीए हो तुला दुसर ऑफिस देतो. ते ऑफिस कबीरच आहे. त्याला डीस्टर्ब करायच नाही. “मामा म्हणाले.
रात्री कबीर विचार करत होता. विराजला काही समजल तर? समजू दे सत्य आहे ते.
तो मोबाईल बघत होता. खुशीचा डीपी छान आहे. यात ती किती खुश दिसते आहे. बहुतेक तिच्या घरातला जुना फोटो आहे. आता ती वैतागली आहे. मी खुशी बरोबर कठोर वागतो आहे का? थोडे दिवस. जरा हा फेज जायला हवा. ती मला होकार देत नाही. तिच्याशी मोकळ बोलू का या विषयावर. काय झालं ते सांगू का? नको तिला खर वाटणार नाही. ती ऐकणार नाही. तिला तिच्या घरचे प्रिय आहेत. तिला मोकळ सोडल तर ती मला त्रास देईल. पण तिच्या कडून ऑफिस काम होत नाही. ऑफिस ही मोठ आहे. करू काहीतरी. मामा, खुशी, परांजपेच ऑफिस यात समन्वय साधायला हवा. आईला काही माहिती नाही तिला खुशी बद्दल सांगाव लागेल. विचार करत तो झोपला.
