कैलास काकुळतीला येऊन आईला सांगत होता. त्याची बायको शेजारीच उभी होती. तिला कळेना हे काय चाललंय.
बदली झाली म्हणजे कैलासचं प्रमोशन झालं, पगार वाढला. मग ही गोष्ट इतक्या रडकुंडीला येऊन का सांगावी?
हे ऐकताच आईला रडू फुटलं. आईने स्वतःला सावरलं आणि म्हणाली, काळजी करू नको, माझं लेकरू एकटं नाही पडणार, मीही येईन तुझ्यासोबत.
वृंदाला धक्काच बसला. सासूबाई सुद्धा आपल्या सोबत येणार? त्यांचा तसा काही त्रास नव्हता. उलट त्या आपल्या सुनेला लेकीसारखं वागवत. कसलेही कष्ट पडू देत नसत. सुनेला त्या आईसमान होत्या, पण इथे तिचे सासरे एकटे राहतील त्याचं काय?
ती म्हणाली,
“आपण सगळेच जाऊयात, बाबा इथे एकटे कसे राहणार??”
बाबांच्या कानावर शब्द पडले तसे ते ओरडले,
