“त्या दोघी मायलेकीत वाद नको म्हणून…”

“समजलं, नेहमीप्रमाणे मिताली तुझी बाजू घेऊन बोलली असणार आणि तू वाद मिटवला असणार..”

“तेच योग्य वाटतं मला..”

“स्वतःचा विचार कधी केलाच नाहीस तू…कॅनडाला जायला मी तयार होतो पण तू आई वडिलांकडे बघून मला थांबवलं…आणि तिकडे मी हे सत्य आई बाबांना सांगूनही तर मान्य करत नाहीत..त्यांच्या मते मीच त्यांचा श्रावण बाळ असल्याने माझाच नकार होता..”

“तुम्ही दोघे भाऊ बहीण ना, माझ्यासाठी एक दिवस युद्ध कराल असं वाटतंय..”

दोघेही हसायला लागले,

“अहो मी काय म्हणते, ताई थोड्या दिवसांसाठी आल्या आहेत तर नको ना उगाच वाद…”

“बरं बाई, तू म्हणशील तसं..”

त्या दिवशी वहिनीला कणकण वाटत होती, अशक्तपणा जाणवत होता. आशुतोष आणि मितालीने तिला आराम करायला लावला पण ती ऐकते कुठे…

नेमकं त्याच दिवशी मितालीला भेटायला तिची मावशी आली, आपल्या सुनेला घेऊन…त्या दोघी येताच मितालीच्या आईने वहिनीला कामाला लावलं..

“पुरण टाक, आमटी कर, भजी तळ..”

“अगं आई वहिनीला बरं नाहीये…”

“इतकं काही नाही झालं तिला, करेल ती…”

मावशीने हे ऐकताच आपल्या सुनेला तिची मदत करायला पाठवलं.. मावशीची सून एक नंबरची कामचुकार. ती अनिच्छेनेच उठली आणि किचनमध्ये बसून घेतलं. नावाला फक्त लसूण सोलून दिला आणि कांदे चिरून दिले.

वहिनीने सगळा स्वयंपाक केला, जेवायला वाढलं. स्वयंपाक छान झाला तसं मावशी कौतुक करू लागली,

“छान स्वयंपाक करते हा तुझी सून..”

“हम्म…सवय आहे तिला..” आई पुटपुटली..

वहिनी म्हणाली, “केतकीने कांदे चिरून दिले, छान बारीक कापले तिने म्हणजन भजी छान जमली..”

मावशीने हे ऐकलं आणि आपल्या सुनेचे कौतुक सुरू केले,

“आमची केतकी सुद्धा छान करते हो स्वयंपाक.. भाज्या करते तर असं वाटतं हॉटेल मधेच जेवतोय की काय…मी बाकीचं आवरते त्यातही फार मदत करते मला..” थोडक्यात त्यांची सून फक्त हातभार लावते, स्वतःहून काही करत नाही हे स्पष्ट दिसत होतं..

मिताली वाट बघत होती किनारी सुद्धा आपल्या वहिनीबद्दल दोन शब्द कौतुकाचे बोलेल, पण कसलं काय..आईच्या तोंडून एक शब्द फुटला नाही…

मितालीला ते खूप खटकलं..
