ती माहेरी गेली..वडील आणि भावासोबत चांगले क्षण घालवले, आपल्या सासरचं कौतुक कटाक्षाने करू लागली,

दोन दिवसांनी एका नोकराचा फोन आला,

“सासरे खुर्चीवरून पडले..”

ती तडक घरी धावत गेली,

नोकरांनी त्यांना उचलून बेडवर ठेवलं होतं, फारसं काही लागलं नव्हतं, पण तिला काळजी वाटत होती..

“बाबा मी जायला नको होतं माहेरी..”

“अगं तू असतीस तरी पडलो असतोच की मी, तुझ्या जाण्याने पडलो असं काही नाही, स्वतःला दोष देऊ नकोस”

सासऱ्यांना औषध देऊन ती बॅग उचलत आपल्या खोलीकडे निघाली,

ती गोंधळात पडली,

“म्हणून तर एका चाळीतली दरिद्री मुलगी आणलीय उचलून, बाबांना माझी लफडी माहीत होती, मी लग्न करून एखादीचं आयुष्य खराब करेल म्हणून लग्नाला नाही म्हणत होता म्हातारा.. मग मी टिच्चून लग्न केलं त्यांच्यासमोर.. आता बघ, माझी बायको घरात आहे नावाला..पण मी मात्र खुशाल बाहेर अय्याशी करतो..कोणाची हिम्मत नाही मला अडवायची..बायकोला गुलाम बनवलं आहे मी…एका तालावर नाचते, कधी प्रश्न विचारायची हिम्मत केली नाही तिने..आणि तुला कशाला गं इतके प्रश्न? तुला तुझी किंमत मिळाली ना? की अजून पाहिजे??”

हे सगळं ती बाहेरून ऐकत होती,

तिच्या पायाखालची जमीनच सरकली,

इकडे याची अय्याशी सुरू होती,

दोन दिवस झाले,

तिचा यायचा पत्ताच नव्हता,

फोनही उचलत नव्हती,

तो काहीसा घाबरला,

तो त्याच्या वडिलांकडे गेला..ते तिथे नव्हते,

तो अजून घाबरला,

घरात नोकर चाकर गायब..

कुणाचा फोन लागेना..त्याच्या घामाने धारा वाहू लागल्या,

एके दिवशी घरात पोलीस आले,

“घरावर तुम्ही बेकायदेशीरपणे राहत असल्याची तक्रार आलीये, तुम्हाला दोन दिवसात घर खाली करावं लागेल.”

“काय चाललंय हे? हे माझं घर आहे..”

“हे तुमच्या वडिलांचं घर आहे, त्यांनी रीतसर तक्रार नोंदवली आहे तुमची, तुमच्या बायकोने घटस्पोटाचा अर्ज केलाय, तुमचे वडील।तिच्याच घरी आहेत..सगळी संपत्ती, घर आणि बिझनेस तुमच्या बायकोच्या नावे केला आहे तुमच्या वडिलांनी..”

तो दोन पावलं मागे सरकला..

हे असं काही होईल याची त्याला जाणीवच नव्हती,

काही क्षणात तो राजाचा रंक झालेला..
