मोठा बंगला, चार चार गाड्या, घरात नोकर..

त्याचं स्थळ आलं आणि वडील हरखून गेले,

तिला हे लग्न कर म्हणून ते मागे लागले,

तिच्या मनात चलबिचल होती,

अनेक प्रश्न सतावत होते,

वडील म्हणाले,

“तुझी संघर्षवृत्ती आणि जिद्द बघूनच तू आवडली त्या मुलाला..”

नुसता फोटो बघून मुलाने आपल्याला पसंत करावं हे तिला पटतच नव्हतं,

अनेक चर्चा झाल्या, शेजारच्यांनी तिला समजावलं,

अखेर ती तयार झाली,

मुलाशी लग्नाआधी फारसं बोलणं झालं नाही,

संस्कारी असं बिरुद त्याला सर्वजण लावत होते..

लग्न करून ती सासरी आली,

हळूहळू तिला कळलं, की या लग्नाला त्या मुलाचे वडील तयार नव्हते,

मुलाचाच हट्ट होता फक्त,

तिला वाईट वाटलं, पण त्यांच्या मनात आपल्याबद्दल जिव्हाळा निर्माण व्हावा म्हणून ती आनंदाने त्यांचं करू लागली,

घरात दिवसभर काही काम नसायचं,

सासऱ्यांची सेवा ती करायची,

सासरे तिच्याशी प्रेमाने वागायचे, तिला कळेना..असं असताना त्यांनी लग्नाला विरोध का केला असावा?

अनेक प्रश्न मनातच ठेऊन तिचा संसार सुरू होता,

पण जे पाहिलं होतं तसं घडत नव्हतं,

नवरा मोजकच बोलायचा,

कामाचं निमित्त सांगून कितीतरी दिवस बाहेर असायचा,

घरात सगळं ठीक आहे ना एवढं विचारायचा…

हातात पैसे टेकवायचा..

तिला समजू लागलं, की याने केवळ घरात एक हक्काचा माणूस हवा म्हणून लग्न केलं आहे..बाकी नवरा म्हणून प्रेम, सहवास तिला मिळालाच नव्हता…याची तक्रार करणार तरी कुणाकडे?

सासऱ्यांची सेवा करायची आणि वडील आणि भावाकडे लक्ष ठेवायचं हेच तिचं जीवन बनून राहिलं..

एके दिवशी तिला वाटलं, चार दिवस माहेरी जाऊन यावं.

तिने नवऱ्याला तसं सांगितलं..

“बरं जा तू, मीही चार दिवस बाहेरगावी जाणार आहे..बाबांकडे लक्ष द्यायला घरातले नोकर आहेत..”

“तसं असेल तर नाही जात मी..”

“अगं किती दिवस झाले तू गेली नाहीस, तेही तुझे वडील आहेत.तू गेलीस तर बरं वाटेल त्यांना..”
