“तू तुझ्या प्रेमाला स्वीकार हे मीच तुला सांगितलं होतं, आता पुढचंही मीच सांगते..”

“सांग की..”

“कुठलाही व्यक्ती, त्याला मिळालेल्या वातावरणानुसार.. संस्कारानुसार वागत असतो..तुझ्या सासरी शिक्षणाचा मागमूस नाही यात त्यांची चूक नाही..उलट असं असतांना गरिबीतून ते वर आले याचा पहिले तू अभिमान बाळग..”

“हे खरं आहे..”

“दुसरी गोष्ट, त्यांना तुझं राहणं, वागणं, नोकरी करणं खटकतं.. याचं कारण माहितीये? कारण अश्याने त्यांना तू त्यांच्यातली वाटत नाहीस..आधी तुला त्यांच्यासारखं बनावं लागेल..त्यांना तू आपली वाटायला हवीस..”

“कशी?”

“त्यांच्या सारखं वाग, त्यांच्यासारखी रहा, त्यांना जे आवडतं ते कर…सासूने काही सांगितलं तर स्वतःचं डोकं वापरू नकोस, ते म्हणतील तसं कर…अनुभव असतो मोठ्यांना संसाराचा..आणि आपण नवीन आलेल्या मुली त्यांना ज्ञान शिकवायला गेलो तर नाही आवडत त्यांना…”

“बापरे, कठीण आहे..”

“पण हेच तुझं आयुष्य पुढे सोपं करणार आहे…सासरच्यांना तू आयुष्यभर त्यांची हाजी हाजी करावी, सेवा करावी, कामं करावी अशी अपेक्षा नसते…त्यांना फक्त आजमवायचं असतं की तू त्यांच्या चौकटीत बसू शकतेस का? त्यांच्या अपेक्षांना पूर्ण करू शकतेस का? एकदा का त्यांना याची खात्री झाली की पुढचा मार्ग मोकळा..”

तिने मनापासून सगळं ऐकलं, तिला पटलं..

तिला नोकरी बदलायची होती,

तिने विचार केला,

नवीन नोकरी बघतोय तर 2 महिने सुट्टी घेऊन घरीच बसू..घरच्यांना तेवढाच वेळ..

या वेळात तिने आपला प्रयोग सुरु केला..

सकाळी लवकर उठणं, साफसफाई करणं, स्वयंपाक, देवपूजा करणं..सगळं मनापासून करू लागली,

आवडीचं जेवण बनवणं, साफसफाई करणं…माहेरी जे तिने कधीही केलं नव्हतं ते सगळं ती करू लागली..

शिकलेली सून एवढं सगळं करतेय म्हटल्यावर सासरच्यांना आकाश ठेंगणे झाले..

त्यांना जाणीव झाली,

ही अपल्यातलीच..

आपलीच..

एके दिवशी सासू म्हणाली,

“एवढी शिकलेली आहेस, कशाला वाया घालवतेस..नोकरी कर चांगली..”

तिला आनंदाच्या उकळ्या फुटू लागल्या,

मैत्रीण बरोबर सांगत होती,

सासरच्यांना फक्त आजमवायचं असतं,

आपण त्यांच्या चौकटीत बसतो की नाही,

एकदा का त्यांना खात्री झाली, की पुढचा मार्ग मोकळा..

ती मुद्दाम म्हणाली,

“पण आता घराची सवय झालीये, घरकामाचा ताण तुमच्यावर नको..”

“मग काय घरीच बसणार काय? आणि हे बघ, तुझ्यासाठी नवीन कपडे आणलेत, स्लीवलेज पण आहेत. शेजारच्या मंदाबाई नावं ठेवायच्या, पण मीही सांगितलं…की माझी सून नोकरी करते..शिकलेली आहे पण घरातलं एकूनएक जमतं तिला..स्वयंपाक विचारु नका की साफसफाई विचारू नका…बारीकसारीक सगळं येतं तिला…एवढं असून नोकरी करणार आहे…बायकांना काय बाई, दुसऱ्याचं पाहवत नाही हेच खरं..”

ती मनातल्या मनात हसली,

तिने आता दोन्ही गोष्टी मिळवल्या,

तिचं प्रेमही,

आणि आपल्याशी जुळवून घेणारं सासरची..

तात्पर्य

आजकालच्या मुली नवीन घरी गेल्यावर त्यांनी आपलं राहणीमान, आपले विचार तात्काळ स्वीकारावे अशी अपेक्षा करतात. पण पूर्वापार बघत आलेल्या गोष्टींबाबत दृष्टिकोन बदलणं हे एका दिवसाचं काम नसतं..
त्यासाठी वेळ जाऊ द्यावा लागतो,
समोरच्याला आपलं म्हणणं पटवून द्यायचं असेल तर
आधी त्यांचं म्हणणं ऐकून घ्यावं लागतं..
त्यांच्या रस्त्याने चालावं लागतं…
मग एक वेळ अशी येते…
की तेच आपल्याला रस्ता विचारतात…
आपलं म्हणणं शिरोधार्य मानतात..
