वडिलांना घरी नेलं, त्याने सर्व काळजी घेतली आणि सर्व व्यवस्था लावून तो घरी आला,
एक प्रश्न सुटला असला तरी दुसरा आ वासून उभा होता,
घरात रोज डाळ शिजत होती, कारण भाजीपाला, किराणा यासाठी पैसेच नव्हते,
मुलाला शाळेत लागणाऱ्या वस्तू बायको इकडून तिकडून उसने आणत होती,
दुधवाल्याला विनंती करत बिल नंतर देण्याची मुदत मागून घेतली,
घरात येणारा पेपर बंद झाला,
महिना कसा काढावा हा मोठा प्रश्न होता,
तोच गावाहून फोन आला,
“डॉक्टर उरलेले पैसे लवकर द्या असं म्हणताय”
तो खचला, काय करावं समजेना,
“मी शेजारी धुणी भांडीची कामं घेऊ का?”
असं बायको म्हणाली आणि त्याच्या छातीत एकच कळ गेली,
ज्या शेजाऱ्यांच्या बायकांसोबत आपली बायको मांडीला मांडी लावून बसते त्यांच्याच घरी धुणी भांडी करायची? तिला काय वाटेल? नाही, मी इतका स्वार्थी नाही की माझ्या बायकोचा आत्मसन्मान वेशीला टांगेन..
“अहो काम हे काम असतं, मला काही वाटणार नाही”
“अजिबात नाही..”
त्याने निक्षून सांगितलं,
त्याच्याच घराजवळ त्याचा एक मित्र आणि त्याची बायको रहात होते,
त्याने मित्राला आपली परिस्थिती सांगितली,
मित्राने तात्काळ मदतीचा हात पुढे करून एक मोठी रक्कम त्याच्या हातात टेकवली,
त्याला पैसे घेताना संकोच वाटत होता, पण त्याचा नाईलाज होता,
“मित्र समजतोस ना मला? मग संकोच बाळगू नकोस”
त्याने पैसे घेतले आणि सोबतच मित्राला हमी दिली, की जमतील तसे तो सगळे पैसे हळूहळू परत करेन,
मित्राने हसून सांगितलं,
“काही घाई नाही..आरामात दे..”
त्या पैशात हॉस्पिटलचे पैसे भरले, घरात खर्चालाही पैसे शिल्लक राहिले,
एका मोठ्या संकटातून बाहेर यायला मित्राने मदत केली होती,
त्याने मित्राचे उपकार मानले..
आठवडा झाला, मित्राच्या बायकोचा त्याच्या बायकोला फोन..
“वहिनी अहो मला अर्जंट बाजारात जायचं आहे, मिनूला तुमच्याकडे सोडू का थोडावेळ?”
तिला उपकाराची जाण होती, अश्यावेळी आपण मदत करायलाच हवी..
“हे काय विचारणं झालं? सोडा की..”
मित्राच्या बायकोने त्यांच्या मुलीला हिच्याकडे सोडलं,
मिनू प्रचंड खोडकर, आई बाजारात गेक्यावर तिने यांच्या घरी खूप त्रास दिला, बायकोच्या नाकी नऊ आणले..तिची आई बाजारातून डायरेक्ट संध्याकाळी परतली..तोवर बायको जाम झालेली..
“आमच्या मिनूने काही त्रास तर दिला नाही ना?”
“नाही नाही, छान रमली ती..”
बायको थोडीच खरं सांगणार..
दोघी मायलेकी गेल्या तसा बायकोने सुस्कारा टाकला..
उपकार केलेत त्यांनी, मग एवढं तर करायलाच हवं..
काही दिवस उलटले,
तो दिवसभर काम करून थकून आलेला, आज जरा जास्तच दमला होता,
