जलद कथा (भाग १)आज रविवार, सुट्टीचा दिवस, सकाळी सकाळी मी आणि सौभाग्यवती मस्त गरम गरम विफाळलेला चहा एंजॉय करत गप्पा मारत होतो. तेवढ्यात रघुच आवाज आला, “अग यायाया मेलो मेलो” मी घाबरून गॅलरीतून डोकावून पाहू लागलो. तर बायकोने मला मागे खेचले, “ उगाच नाही त्या भानगडीत पडू नका. फुकट ओरडून घ्याल. “ स्वाती (आमची सौभाग्यवती) म्हणाली.“अग त्याला काहीतरी लागले असेल, एवढा ओरडतो आहे, बघायला नको का? “ मी विचारले.
“ अहो, नेहमीचेच आहे हे. त्या महामायेने चिमटा काढला असेल नाहीतर हाणल असेल लाटण्याने.” इती सौ.
“ अग काहीही काय बोलतात? अशी कोणती बायको मारेल लाटण्याने? “ मी विचारल्यावर सौ. हसतच सुटली.“अहो तुम्ही नव्हता इथे तुम्हांला काहीच माहिती नाही. बरीच पडझड झाली आहे इथे. इथे म्हणजे भाऊजींच्या घरी. “ स्वाती सांगू लागली.“कोरोना काळात अनेकांच्या नोकरीवर गदा आली तशी भाऊजींच्या नोकरीवर ही आली आणि त्यानंतर त्यांच्या घरातले वातावरण एकदम बदलले, दिवस दिवस भाऊजींच्या दिसेनासे झाले आणि त्यांच्या ओरडण्याचा आवाजही वरचेवर येऊ लागला. कुणी काही विचारले, तर रश्मीच्या बोलण्याने अपमानीत होऊन मान खाली घालून येऊ लागला. ““बिचारा रघू” इतकच मनाशी म्हणत मी माझे आवरायला गेलो.आता रिटायरमेंट जवळ आली होती म्हणून मी इकडे बदली करून घेतली असली तरी फार कुणाच्या भानगडीत पडत नव्हतो. पण रघूची गोष्ट वेगळी होती. एकतर आम्ही दोघे शाळेतले मित्र आणि आम्ही दोघेच पहिल्यांदा या इमारतीत रहायला आलो होतो. तेव्हा रघू चे लग्न ठरलेले होते. माझे झाले होते. संध्याकाळी खालच्या ट्रॅकवर आम्ही गप्पा मारत फेर्यांची मारत असायचो. त्यामुळे जरा रघू बद्दल ऐकून जरा वाईट वाटले. आणि खरं काय आहे ते समजून घेऊन रघू ला मदत करावी हे ठरवून ही टाकले.
मनात ठरवले तरी ऑफिसच्या कामाच्या व्यापात रघूकडे पाहणे काही जमले नाही. थोड्या दिवसांनी आमचा रविवार, चहा घेऊन गॅलरीत बसलो होतो, अर्थात दोघेही. दारावरची बेल वाजली. हीने जाऊन उघडले व मला हाक मारली. दारात रघुची बायको, रश्मी वहिनी उभ्या होत्या. “ यांना काहितरी झालयं, दहा वेळा उठवले सकाळपासून, उठतच नाहीत. “ वहिनींच्या चेहर्यावर त्रासिक भाव होते. कधीही कुठलेही सुख मिळाले नसल्यासारखे. मी म्हणालो, “म्हणजे काही होतयं का त्याला? “ मी विचारले.“ काय माहिती. रोज उठतात, आज उठलेच नाहीत, किती उठवले तरी. “ रश्मी वहिनी करवादल्या.“ चला बघू. “ मी.जाऊन बघतो तर रघू पूर्ण घामाने भिजलेला. आधी नाडी पाहिली. ठीक होती, मग तोंडावर पाणी मारून जागे करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. नुसते डोळे किलकिले करून परत गच्च मिटून घेतले, लहान घाबरलेल्या मुलासारखे.“ह्याला दवाखान्यात न्यायला हवे. मी रुग्णवाहिका बोलावतो. “ मी सगळी तजवीज केली, रघूला नेऊन दवाखान्यात दाखल केले. त्याच्यावर उपचार सुरू झाले. मी निघणार इतक्यात माझा हात रघूने पकडला, “ कशाला एवढा खटाटोप केलास? मेलो असतो तर सुटलो असतो ती आणि मीही. “ रघू रडायला लागला.“ असे बोलू नये रे, काय धाड भरलीय तुला? चांगला ठणठणीत तर आहेस? “ मी म्हणालो.“नाही रे, खरचं. निदान जिवंतपणी यमयातना तरी भोगायला लागल्या नसत्या. “ रघूने डोळे पुसले.“अरे पण एवढे झालयं तरी काय? काही प्राॅब्लेम आहे तर सांग, आपण मार्ग काढू त्याच्यावर. पण असा हतबल होऊन मरणाच्या गोष्टी करू नकोस. “ मी जरा ओरडलोच.“ सांगेन कधीतरी. ती येणार नाही, येऊ शकणार नाही दवाखान्यात. आजच्या दिवस तिला जेवायला द्यायला सांगशील का वहिनीला?” रघूने विचारले.“आणि तुझे काय?….सकाळी चहा पण झाला नसेल तुमचा. त्यांना जेवण देतोच, पण तू उपाशीच रहाणार आहेस का? मी येतो तुलाही डबा घेऊन आणि त्यांनाही देतो. “ मी म्हणालो आणि घरी जायला निघालो, तर समोर स्वाती उभी होती, रघूसाठी चहा आणि खायला घेऊन आली होती. माझ्या मनातले न सांगता देखील तिला समजले होते आणि मी सांगण्या आधीच ती दवाखान्यात हजर होती.क्रमशः©️®️ सौ. हर्षाली प्रसन्न कर्वेमिरज
जलद कथा (भाग २)स्वाती रघूला चहा आणि खायला देऊन घरी गेली. रविवार असला तरी डॉक्टर ओळखीचे असल्यामुळे रघूला लगेच उपचार सुरू झाले होते. मी डॉक्टरांच्या केबीनमधे गेलो. “ नमस्कार, रघूला काही विशेष आहे का? “ मी डॉक्टरांना विचारले“ नाही, काहीही नाही.” मला बसायची खूण करत डाक्टर बोलू लागू. “मला वाटते त्यांना फिवर असावा, आणि त्यात काल काही खाल्ले नसावे. आज एक दिवस सलाईन गेले की बरे होतील ते. ““ओके, काही टेस्ट वगैरे करायला हव्यात का? “ मी.“आज रविवार आहे, त्यामुळे काहीच होणार नाही. उद्या सकाळी त्यांचे चेक अप आले की बघू. “ डॉक्टर म्हणाले तसे मी बाहेर पडलो आणि रघू च्या खोलीजवळ आलो तर मला रडण्याचा आवाज आला. रघू मोबाईलवर कोणाशीतरी बोलत होता आणि रडत होता. “नाही, आता त्राण नाही उरले ग माझ्यात, सहनशक्ती संपलीय माझी. मी नाही आता तुला सांभाळू शकत. तू जा कुठे ही निघून जा. मी घरी येणार नाही. मीही जाणार आहे दूर कुठेतरी निघून. “ बोलण्यावरून तो बायकोशी बोलत आहे असे वाटत होते. मी पटकन आत जाऊन त्याच्या हातातून फोन काढून घेतला. “ कोणाशी बोलत होतास, हे काय बोलणे झाले “तू निघून जा आणि मी ही निघून जातो म्हणे. “ मी दरडावले.“नाही, कुणाचीच नाही. “ रघू.“ खरं बोल रघू. मी ऐकलयं. ” मी“ फक्त कानाशी फोन धरून बोलत होतो. कुणाशी बोलणार मी? आहेच कोण मला? सगळ्यांनी संबंध तोडले आहेत आमच्याशी. हिला किंवा हिच्याशी काही बोलणे शक्य नाही, कारण तिला काही समजतच नाही. “ रघू गप्प बसला.“ रघू, काय अवस्था करून घेतली आहेस ही स्वतःची? बघ जरा स्वतःकडे. बोल रे, बोल काहीतरी, मोकळा हो. मगच बरं वाटेल तुला. “ मी रघूला बोलत करण्याचा प्रयत्न करत म्हणालो.
“ सांगतो. माझ्या लग्नाच्या आधीपासून तू मला ओळखतो आहेस. चार चौघात मिळून मिसळून रहात असे मी. जग मित्र होते माझे. पण लग्न झाले आणि सगळेच बदलले. लग्नाच्या वेळी ही नाॅर्मल होती कारण हिला औषध चालू होते. पहिले चार पाच महिने मला कशाचाही थांग पत्ता लागला नाही. नंतर हिला अटॅक आला तेव्हा कळले की ही मनोरुग्ण आहे. मनोरुग्ण असली तरी एरवी तिचे वागणे व्यवस्थित होते. आमच्या लग्नानंतर काही दिवसांतच तिची आई गेली आणि तिच्या भावाने आमच्याशी सर्व संबंध तोडले. लग्नानंतर आठदहा वर्षे ती बरी होती. औषध चालू होती. रोजची काम व्यवस्थित करत होती. औषधे न विसरता घेत होती. फक्त आम्हांला मूल होऊ द्यायचे नाही हा नियम आम्हांला होता. हे सगळे माझ्यासाठी अवघड होते, तितकेच तिच्यासाठी सुद्धा अवघड होते. काहीतरी गडबड झाली, तिला दिवस राहिले. त्यात माझा काही हात नव्हता, त्यामुळे हे झाले कसे हे खरचं मला माहिती नाही. त्यावेळी मला राग अनावर झाला आणि मी तिला एक मुस्कटात ठेऊन दिली. तिने खूप आरडाओरडा केला, रडली. तरी पण आम्ही हे मूल जन्माला घालायचे ठरवले. कसं का असेना, आपल्या घरात चिमणे बोल ऐकून येणार ह्याच आनंदात मी होतो. पण तिला सातवा चालू असताना मी घरी आलो तर, ही रक्ताच्या थारोळ्यात पडली होती. तसाच तिला उचलून दवाखान्यात घेऊन गेलो. दवाखान्यात न्यायला उशीर झाल्यामुळे बाळ गेले आणि ही मरता मरता वाचली. पण तेव्हापासून हिची मानसिक अवस्था बिघडली ती कायमचीच. त्यात कोरोना काळात माझी नोकरी गेली. त्यामुळे मी कायम घरात रहायला लागलो. मग माझा वेळ घालवण्यासाठी मी केर फरशी, भांडी सगळे घरात करायला लागलो. कुणाशी बोलायचे, वेळ कसा घालवायचा? मोठा प्रश्न होता. मग हिच्याबरोबर सतत राहून तिच्यातल उणेपण जास्त जाणवू लागले. पण पहिल्यापासून आईची शिकवण जे दान पदरात पडले आहे ते स्वीकारायचे. ते लक्षात ठेऊन “आलीया भोगासी असावे सादर
देवावरी भार घालुनीया! “ असे म्हणून सगळे स्विकारून जगायला शिकलो. पण आता आता.. “ रघू परत रडायला लागला.
“ तू मागे एकदा रविवारी मेलो मेलो म्हणून ओरडत का होतास? “ मी विचारले.“तो खेळ आहे आमचा. मी उगाच असा ओरडला की तिला खूप हसायला येते. आणि मग जरा दिवस चांगला जातो… “ थोडे थांबून रघू पुढे सांगू लागला. “आता तिची सोय मला एखाद्या आश्रमात करावी लागणार आहे. मी नाही तिला पाहू शकणार यापुढे. ““ हं. कंटाळला असशील सगळे करून करून. मी सहजपणे उत्तरलो.“ कंटाळा नाही आला, एकदा सगळे स्वीकारल्यावर. पण मीच आता फार दिवस काही करू शकणार नाही. तिची सोय काय करावी ह्या टेन्शनमुळे मी आजारी पडले. मला ब्लड कॅन्सर झालाय. लास्ट स्टेज. “हे ऐकून मी सून्न झालो. आलीया भोगासी म्हंटल तरी किती सहन करायचे ह्यालाही मर्यादा आहेच. पण रघू मात्र हे भोग, हा वनवास भोगत होता.समाप्त©️®️ सौ. हर्षाली प्रसन्न कर्वेमिरज
